  1. Hey flnl, um, yeah.... Like MM said, a frame alignment should not be necessary unless the truck was damaged considerably, kind of like mine I've had quotes for $100-$280 just to measure the frame, thats not repairing anything.... Still looking for someone I trust... B
  2. Good info 88, thanks ! I be happy with a straight frame first, so it may be a while before I futz with the headlights... B
  3. Whats the difference between the "optional NISMO" engine and tranny mounts and the factory ?? B
  4. Hey Z_Pilot, looks like you may have found a decent one, the milage is nice anyway... It appears that 93-95 have the potential for frame rust, but my 95XE seems perfectly fine out here in Ca so I'm sure it has to do with the local environment, and I dont think the roads get salted in MD, it has to snow regularly for that, right ? Generally speaking, no, no problem with the motor if the timing belt hasn't been changed, only a problem if it breaks or skips teeth so have it changed/change it right away if you buy it. Also, depending on the driver/conditions, the clutch could be worn or still have 50K left on it... These two 'fixes' are moderately expensive and should detract from the sale price. I thought Pathys were cheaper back there, $5K seems like a mint price, but then maybe it is... Good Luck ! Bernard
  5. Ok, appearance does matter to some degree and in some circumstances, but I've noticed for a few years that perceptions are becoming far more important then reality... Here is a perfect example. WTF are things comming to ? http://www.wired.com/news/autotech/0,2554,...tw=wn_tophead_4 B
  6. Feel like I just talked to a travel agent... B
  7. Happy B-day man !! Do something nice for yourself !! B
  8. Hey Kevin, I have a 95XE 4x4 with 114K and 31" tires. At 3000 RPM, the speedo indicates 65 MPH. It reads a but low, about 6-7%, so I'm really running at 68-70 MPH. I consider that cruising speed for this vehicle. Maybe you just need to mount 31" tires for that little extra. I think the truck pulls them just fine; what size tires do you have now ? Bernard
  9. Yo, 88, dont you mean hundredths of an inch, or were you trying to say something like "even only in a few tens of thousandths of an inch" ??? You are going to confuse people and they are going to go out looking for Kenworth springs.... Sheesh... norcaljoe, if you think Marysville is a stinking town, you aught to try Lincoln !! My front end is still messed up from an accident, but I hope to get that finished soon. I could show you a few places off of hwy 80... B
  10. Hey norcaljoe, my guess is that you have some combo of wrong springs, cut them too short, or insane flex... I looked at some of your pictures, and you do seem to get a lot, but maybe it is the 3" body lift fooling me. I know that 88 when through some effort to keep the springs as long as possible (heating the pigtail and bending it rather than cutting) AND added a 1" stiff rubber spacer, so maybe that is your answer. If you lose one again, or just pull it, measure the length of the spring; I'm sure someone will chime in with theirs... Also, measure the coil thickness. I seem to remember .51"-.57" as a variance that 88 has noted between sets. Marysville eh, I lived in Lincoln for a year, and rode dirt bikes under the bridge out there when I was a kid. Good to hear from another 'local'. Maybe this summer we go for a trip, I miss the foothills. Ever been to lake Sterling or Lola Montez off of cisco grove (Hwy 80) or gone to Forrest Hill ?? Good luck, and let us know what you find. Bernard
  11. Sorry Bud... But then, you know the old "If it's too good to be True, it probably is..." B
  12. Yeah, I definitely want to get a CB... Some time soon I hope... Slick, where in Petaluma did your friend go ? I'm not just close, I live there... Could be good info. B
  13. LOL MM, that goes for any motor... Breathing and farting is #1 performance restrictor. Over the years, I have mod'd many vehicles (trucks, VWs, motorcycles) and have never done any motor mods... Just intake and exhaust; maximum gain for minimum $ and it doesn't screw with reliability, longevity and can increase gas milage, depending on how you drive... My take is why mess with a reliable motor (unless you plan to race), just set it up for good air flow... B
  14. I remembered someone saying they had a hard clunking like that and it was the bushings for the rod that goes from the A arm to the frame... apparently they can be WASTED and not appear to be... Check those, I'm sure mine are on the way out... B
  15. Have you tried threatening him ? You know, with say, a baseball bat to the knee cap ? How about you just tell him to buy it from you at running condition value, and then you can go get another one ? Dont want to go to far here, but I think your mom has her priorities F'ed up. How does she think its ok that someone keeps your truck for more than 11/2 year ? How about she talks to her 'friend' about leaning on her son to get the job done ? You have far more patience than I do. GL B
  16. Yes, thats what he meant... Turning a rotor just means cutting it on a lathe type machine where the rotor its self is spinning, ie. turning... B

    Crunch

Sorry k9sar, but it doesn't look like the damage is too bad... I'm sure you'll have her in shape in no time... I think I have an extra turn signal lense if you need it. B
  18. I second google, and NOPRA on fav list B
  19. Um, 88 is right, I have dropped the ball... All I need to do is CAD it out, but I have soo many projects and problems right now that it is low on my list. Hopefully in a few months I will get it done and post a 'do it your self' version. It will be very close to what 88 has done. Sorry about the lag, but life is not cooperating right now... Repack, bash away !! You are right about learning to weld, I was going to take a JC course this spring, but they were full already; hopefully in the fall. Same thing isn't it, bending and flexing ? But yes, I agree although I'm sure the aluminum one would last for quite a long time. I could CNC them or hand mill them, I have free access to both. It's more which is easier... You are lucky you have some friends who can/will teach you; I have to figure everything out myself ! Bernard

    Lsd

Ditto to Repack... I know I have LSD that works correctly. If your truck likes to spin out with little effort in the rain, you have LSD Open diff, you will hear 1 tire spin, LSD you will pivot... :o B

    RUST RUST

Well, I doubt you should/could/would drive a truck with the frame cracked completely in half. I know I wouldn't even if it seemed drivable, which I doubt would be the case. Couldn't imagine getting in an accident, that'd be serious bad news... Don't try to push it when life and limb (yours and others) could be at stake. I'm just going to assume you are joking. Search for rust issues, many people have had them and some have 'fixed' them. B
  22. Yeah, I'm still breathing, just been busy/absent for a bit, I'll call ya tonite... B
  23. Naw, I didn't make that one, but it is similiar to my second gen design. I think he got tired of waiting... I can tell you how to make one easy... B
