That works ok, but I prefer the buddy system... You know, a buddy in the cab, drinking a beer, pushing the petal when you tell him. The GF is a valid substitute if you are low on beer... That way you can actually see what is comming out of the bleeder. Take some picts, add them to the write up, and I can put it in the How To section under something like "How some people bleed their brakes"... B

LOL Dowser... You beat the tar out of that poor truck !! I agree with the general damage assessment. It can be basically fixed relatively easily, but new parts are required. I'd suggest not driving it 5 hours to get them if you have other options though... Glad you had fun and love the attitude !!!! B

Cool, glad you got it changed out and that it shifts normally !! I like to start on the maintenance end and go from there when issues arise... A little steep price for the oil, I just run dino and change it regularly. I think I chaanged all the oils for about $60... Still, $150 is a lot cheaper than a tranny rebuild... B

Have the timing set properly first... Then see how it is. Then run some injector cleaner. Then inspect/replace spark parts.... Have you run the ECU codes ? Look in the Garage\How to... B

I personally am a big fan of of custom disable switches. I believe them to be much more hidden or confusing than a market alarm system, but then I have never had problems with car thieves. One thing I do have is a shotgun shell/.357 mobile hanging from the rear view mirror. I figure it is fair to ask the would be thief if it's worth the possible trouble... The demon mask may help also. As said before, if a pro wants it and has a few minutes to play with things, your baby is gone. The more odd ball (and effective) devices are going to annoy him the most. Again, how much finess goes into stealing a used Pathfinder ? Who the hell would steal that vehicle ? Sounds more like drug related or a repo... B

I'm also about to install a factory roof rack on my 95. I plan to use Jacknuts or Plusnuts. Personally, I think the rack rails are useful for many different set ups, and there is no harm in drilling the holes in the roof if you do a good job. I hear applying masking tape then drilling will keep the paint from chipping badly. B

Sorry abomb1, but I have a 95. I have little idea what yours looks like, just describing how I would approach it. A manual should show it ? Tips... make sure you loosen the filler plug before the drain plug. I like to put some teflon tape on the threads just for good luck. Overfilling is not bad. If you can get the truck tilted a little bit, do it. With the clutch, just bleed it well. B

From how you describe the engagement or the gears relative to the shifter position, my guess would be syncros also. But, what I would do first is drain the tranny oil and look at it and the drain plug for metal particles. If not real bad, just replace with appropriate weight oil for the driving temps (synthetic, and or oil treatment is a good idea) . Bleed the clutch hydraulics, and check petal height/engagement. See what it is like from there. B

Good points, and as I'm pretty new here, I have nothing to compare it to... Yes, I definitely would like more people to perk up and post. Newbies are great for fresh out look and bringing up old topics that sometimes leads to clarification or new input. Perhaps less sarcasm or less 'use search' posts would help..? Don't see it as bad now, but food for thought... Oldies are needed for experience and knowledge and could return due to the mailer idea, but I suspect many of them have gone other directions for many possible reasons. Still, it couldnt hurt... Just a little patience and self control spread evenly would be a nice touch also... B

Glad I could explain it edta1. I stock 5 kinds of grease, but only 1 for bearings and that is the high temp kind. I wouldn't be suprised if a Chemical Engineer was to point out that Hi temp grease is not the best for drums, but I've never had a problem and prefer to run the higher temp stuff. I live in Cali. so it may be different in the land of ice and snow...
