Ok, you are forgiven then... I have a spoiler in the garage, needing paint before install. Maybe next year along with the xterra roof rack... It's the 3rd light version of course. B
-
That isn't normal from my experiences. Has anyone taken that truck for a dip in the ocean or something?? N
-
Yep, looks like it too. You have the non 3rd brake light spoiler... B

How much came out?? Just trying to establish a baseline for drain/refill VS stock capacity for a percentage of fluid change... I've been told by a Nissan/Infinity mechanic that Dextron3/Mercon is perfectly suitable but might need to be replaced slightly more often than compared to the Nissan M(D?) fluid due to quicker break down at higher temperatures. If you have a tranny cooler installed (highly recommended) this may be a non issue and the benefit of Dextron3/Mercon is a lower cost and far greater availability. B

I have not had the issue myself so I don't know it intimately, but yes, what you describe the knock sensor doing is correct. MaritimeMan replaced his knock sensor and put it on the bell housing instead of digging it out of the valley. Seemed to work just fine... There have been a few others with code 34 but I can't quote from them. I do recall the knock sensor code being a symptom, not the cause in some cases. The O2 might be part of the issue or a symptom also. For example, my wife's R50 had an intermittently failing injector (when it was hot ) that would cause it to stumble, and throw codes. Codes for the injector and the O2 sensor after the cat on that side. Replaced the injector and the O2 code went away... Check your O2 sensor resistance, hot and cold; that is how I verified the injector problem. The info is pinned in the Garage IIRC (or WD21 section?) or is certainly in the FSM. B

LOL, I meant winch bumper, that's the whole point... B

It is very common and fairly easy to modify the mounts on the ARB to accommodate a lift, but extending them 6" without considerable reinforcement may not be sturdy enough to winch from. You may be better served by buying a bumper for some other vehicle (the right length and shape of course) and making custom mounts for it. That would be cheaper and most of the harder work is done... It's an option, trim level independent, like almost every option available other than sunroof. Sounds like you have the front end back in shape... B
-
None. It is a taper fit designed to be snug. Generally speaking, any slop in the front end components is bad and has a cumulative negative effect on handling. B

Electric and hydraulic lockers for a wd21?? Maybe, but I have never heard of them. Yes, I forgot the ARB air locker, but I rarely consider a $1000 locker. Too rich for my blood... B
-
So, if this is still active, I'd be interested in the price for both rear springs, both rear shocks, both front coil/strut assemblies with the top bearing mount and plate. Thanks, B
-
Yes, it is. Remove the 6 (8?) cap screws and it slides off. simply pay attention to the order and direction of the 6 or so internal components, clean them one by one, inspect for any damage or wear, lightly lube with grease and reinstall in the proper order. Reinstall the hex bolts and test. Wait a minute. When you tried to put it into 4x4, did you engage the lever and roll forward 1 rotation of the tires to lock in the hubs, or were you 'stuck', engage the 4x4 shifter and not have the front hubs engage because you didn't move forward? With the auto locking hubs you generally need to engage them before you you need them. B

Arse in the air drag racer stance... B

LSD works quite well and in my opinion only has two draw backs compared to an open (1 wheel drive) differential. 1) With LSD you may have to be careful turning on slick surfaces at slow speeds. Not as much as a locker, but it can still spin you around. 2) You can't install a locker in the LSD carrier so to upgrade from LSD to locker you have to source an open 3rd member. A locker trumps LSD for effectiveness but has worse road manners and may promote faster tire wear. The LSD is adequate for most circumstances as it was designed and with the good articulation of the rear suspension it is less likely to lift a wheel and freespin. B

HooRay for the Napa guy why gave you good advice. The Pitman arm goes from the steering box to the center link (which attaches to the tie rod end on that side and the idler arm and the other tie rod on the other end. The pitman arm can only bend (rare), break (extremely rare) or have the hole in it ovaled out (unusual). SOunds like someone was trying to work you, definitely get a second opinion. B

Looks good!! So what rims did you wind up getting, how much, and where?? B
-
Cool, I'm glad it was only a simple mistake. Make sure to loosen up that belt though, a few people have had their tensioner stud break and I think one person snapped off a cam sprocket... B

I thought that Laxman got a 3.5L manual... I could be completely deranged too... B

Ultimately it comes down to air, fuel, spark and compression. Does it even splutter and try to catch or does it just crank? Check that you have spark (the easiest) I'll assume you have air so spray some starter fluid into the intake and see if that makes any change. Check to make sure you have fuel and depending how long the truck has been sitting, any existing gas may be crap. If all that checks out, check the compression. As an after thought, does your rotor spin when you turn the motor over?? B

It's under a little cap, isn't it?? It hinges up and back towards the wiper with a 10 or 12mm nut underneath. In Russia, the wiper arms fool you... B

235/75-15 are essentially 29x8" tires so remember, they make 30x9" and of course 31x10.5". 30x9" tires would be a nice intermediate and be in the 'recommended range' by the manufacturer for those rims. B

Nige is finishing up a bumper with a pal called Bender, it'll probably be worth searching up... B

Good job, you can't tell that it isn't stock... Personally, I hate having dome lights come on when the doors open, much less the map lights. If I want a light, I'll turn it on, but hey, to each their own. B
