  1. MaritimeMan relocated the stock KS to the bell housing, close to the motor where he drilled and tapped a hole. It seemed to work fine... Getting to the stock location is a lot of work, I'll post a picture of the actual location later if I can find it. You do want to have the KS set up, but I wouldn't put it on the intake; the closer to the cylinders the better. B
  2. 'Jesus clamps' didn't pop up anything 1 minute useful from Google, so... I used common worm gear drive clamps, but I suppose spring clamps would be the best way to do it. I put the filter first in line from the tranny output for 2 reasons. 1) I have the temp sensor in the same place and I want to most accurate reading. 2) Why filter after the coolers when cooler clogging is 1/2 the issue? B
  3. Seems like everyone did, or deleted. So, I'm seriously considering running my cooling configuration like this: Tranny out into an inline filter/temp sensor, into the radiator cooler, into a front mounted stacked plate style cooler, back to tranny. I also have a new radiator, and besides, the inline filter will trap anything before it can clog the coolers so its a non-issue. That way I get more consistent tranny temps with faster warm ups (I do notice it in the winter) but run cooler than stock without any of the risk. Seems like a win all around... B

  6. Yes, you need to supply a description of the type (stacked plate, fin and tube, etc), make and model if possible, a picture and the measurements I mounted the gauge in the lower dash of my 95. I used a hole saw, but goofed the first time (1/4" to high so it wouldn't mount). Thank the parts truck for the second try... Wiring was simple. It will help a lot run in series like that and since you don't wheel or tow a lot it should be all you could even need/want. Yeah, that should work just fine also. 140 is because most trannys run at 180+ degrees; the gauge I got starts at 100. That kit is very similiar to what I have set up.   7. Thanks much for the heads up! I bought a set last year for $90 under a similar sale IIRC. Had to wait for a back order, but no grief from them when I exchanged them after installation because one was binding. For most people who want manual hubs, this is a great deal. B
  8. The key here is the width and that one is only 5.75", I'll have to measure mine when I get home, but I run the same type and plan to go one size larger. You can use the stock tranny cooler if you use an inline filter that will catch any debris before it can enter the cooler and clog it. Also I have heard that some aftermarket coolers have bigger lines that don't clog as well, but how do you really tell that? By running the stock cooler the tranny will heat up faster, but will only cool to 180 degrees (what ever the radiator is at) and will actually dump heat into the cooling system, especially on hot days, towing, etc exactly when you don't want that. I'm still trying to figure out the best system to cool an auto tranny, but so far an inline filter, bypassing the stock cooler and running a straight aftermarket coller in font of the radiator with an inline temp gauge seems to work fine. B
  9. I just read about this last night, and all I can say is STOP IT!! Seriously, that is so abnormal, I'd be thinking long and hard about getting the hell out of there. That said, best of luck Bud and stay the hell out of that building. That prefab doesn't have much left holding it together; they don't handle being moved around well at all. B
  10. Fools!! Color wouldn't change it!! Some .50 cals would though... A 7.62 for the passenger, a 20mm auto cannon turret and a free form .50 cal would set it off nicely, not to mention some head cover... B

  12. I've heard the arguement that an autodarkening visor is better for a novice, meaning that you will be all lined up and in position and just start welding; ie you'll get better results. B
  13. Stick with the 33" tires, fix the UCA bolt issue, crank it up as appropriate and enjoy. Bigger tires aren't always the answer... B
  14. No, virtually none that I know of. Vengeful was going to try IIRC, I made a few solid models of some parts, DavefromOZ does CAD and modeled some bit, but I'm afraid that is all that I know of. MR510 may have some stuff, but probably more exhaust and armor. I don't know of any body/chassis CAD files though... B
  15. I have not heard of Pathfinders being targeted specifically, but my buddy's 4 runner's cat was stolen. To make it worse, he paid $700 for a stealership to install and OEM unit. When he told me that, I said that if he had told me I could have set him up with a high flow cat installed for about $200. B
  16. Don't let the age fool you, both my 1995 pathys (132k & 106k miles respectively) and my wif'es 1999.0 (160k miles) all have the original valve cover gaskets and don't leak. Hers were leaking so badly when we bought it, the spark plug wells were partially filled and all I did was snug them back down. They certainly can be damaged like WarehouseRat said, but my experience is that Nissan used very good material for the valve cover and oil fill gaskets. For replacements, check out Alkorahil (aka Rob Lacy) who runs an online parts department in Texas.   17. Grade 8 bolts for valve covers?!? Sorry Bud, but that is overkill like swatting a fly with a tractor trailer!! B
  18. Also, in hilly country, especially when towing, it is a good idea to disengage the overdrive. It is better for the tranny and the VG30 motor has no issues with revving high. Personally I run 10-40 oil out here in Cali. B
