  1. There are two temp sensors right next to one another. One to the temp gauge, one to the ECU. The ECU one is what Adam is talking aboot. The FSM is available for download, pinned in the Garage section for the details and it is worth doing... B
  2. Impressive amount of work and knowledge in that build along with a great write up. Good job... Now, let's see how it runs... B
  3. 11.5" wide?? Unlikely on a stock truck with fender flares and no suspension lift. It's bound to rub somewhere, just where and how bad is in question. Tire size fitment is well documented here... B
  4. Another victim of rust, that sucks!! I do marvel at the number of people who drive until the frame snaps though... B
  5. I hit it's ARB several times with a ladder. B
  6. Actually, the rear ends have a surprising amount of flex for an older SUV simply by removing the sway bar and installing longer shocks. I can only imagine this mod being equally effective. This is beyond my meager skills right now as I haven't taught myself to weld yet. I have been looking for a local used unit though... B

    Codes

Definitely check the ecu for codes first, there is a write up in the Garage/How To section... B
  8. Umm, define done... It is in the garage, awaiting the final angled cut and mounting. I do recall that there didn't seem to be any factory mounting points so drilling the top of the dash and self tapping sheet metal screws are probably going to be what is done. I just can't bring myself to tape it to the dash... My new house has totally consumed my time this year so I probably won't make any headway until winter or next year. B
  9. I'll remember that next time I go to the JY. Thanks!! B
  10. That's your problem because if you can't follow these simple directions, you can go be unsettled somewhere else. Consider not what you ask, but how. Realize that the common denominator is you. B
  11. FYI the stock tranny cooler in the radiator is prone to clogging so many of us bypass it or install external filters. This may be why the tranny acts up occasionally, and is certainly worth considering and checking. Checking the ECU for codes, cleaning the MAF wires (and checking the connection, check the TPS for proper functioning. There is a temp sensor for the ECU that can send bad info also. You can download the factory service manual in the Garage section that will have all of this info... B
  12. You can put all the VG30 parts on the VG33 with a few modifications such as A/C or alternator bracket and such. Someone did a write up here on exactly this, but if my memory serves me, it was a VG30E, not VG30I but it shouldn't make a difference. If I ever blow my motor, I'll probably swap, but with 106,000 miles on it, I may have to wait a while... B
  13. Yep, it'll will only be good for holding the signal lights... ARB has discontinued the bumper for the WD21 so unless you have a line on one already, don't count on it. The bumpers for the D21 are rumored to be still available, but they fit a 2" lift, not a 3" lift... B
  14. You can ask all you want, but saying 'no' to settling down is not an option. Consider this... B
  15. Weld a nut to it and pull it out... B
  16. For what it is worth, I have had great service from Steevo at RR for exactly this part. I'm sorry that you don't have your part yet and I totally understand the time constraints you have, but if the error lies with RR it is unusual. B
  17. So after all of that, you didn't even remove the stud yourself?? B
  18. Great news!! You got lucky!! Did we learn anything?? Just razzing you, I'm glad there wasn't major damage... B

    V-Belts

Always error on the side of too loose VS too tight, the components will last longer. B
  20. Ahh, I suppose that explains it. Not really though, you take it to a much higher level that that... I went to one of those college prep schools which set me up well for everything but hands on type work. Most of that I've figured out the hard (and wrong) way, but I'm not afraid of tearing into something and getting my hands dirty. Still, designing/fabbing my own suspension doesn't seem like anything I'm going to do any time soon... Keep up the great work, it's nice to read up on. B
  21. Who looked anything up?? Well, I did look up the range of the M6 minor diameter, but here is a handy bit of knowledge: with metric internal threads, subtract the pitch from the major diameter and that is the correct minor diameter. M6x1. would equal 5mm or .197"... Machine screw major diameters are (#x.013")+.06" so a 0-80=.06" and a 10-32=.190" (with a minor diameter of .156-.164") I could ramble for hours, but in all honesty I have probably tapped and cut more threads than most people have seen...
