That's a joke, it has to be. It's not even the superior 1994-1995 model!! Hell, I bought my 1995 XE with 96k on it for $3200... B

Yes, runs like crap and maybe. First, see if the ECU has a fault code for the knock sensor. Second, test the sensor per the FSM, downloadable in the Garage section. Third, look up the knock sensor+maritimeman B

Cool, glad you had the easy fix scenario. I just messed with it one day and can't see why anyone with screwdriver would not at least trying the same before going to the stealership or without... B

Yes, from what I can tell you can run the SuperLift UCAs at stock height but that is true stock height, not 15 years old sagged T-bars 'stock height'. Yes, I have messed with the UCAs quite a bit, here is a thread to enlighten you. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=30104&st=0&p=570012&hl=upper&fromsearch=1entry570012 I never determined the angle but it would be easy enough to do with a protractor. I'm guessing about 25-30 degrees. No those UCAs have 0 angle, look at the machined slot in the rod end, it is parallel to the flat milled on the top and bottom. I have about a 2" lift and used the SuperLift UCAs and JGC springs, works out perfectly for me but the JGC springs are known to vary quite a bit. Nope, I've never heard of Fabtech but they seem a lot like the AC versions with additional gussets... B

VG34........3.5L enigne build w/ supercharger
Precise1 replied to smoke's topic in Solid Axle Swaps, Hardcore Custom Fab
He has a point, but to answer your questions, Mr510 just finished building up a VG34 a few weeks ago and did a full technical write up. I'm sure all of your answers are there... In the Garage section if IIRC. No superchargers in California... B -
Good idea and they look well made but I don't see any angle to the ball joint plate which is needed. What/who is the source of these, perhaps you can have some properly angled ends made for the pathfinder application. B

I believe beastpath did the swap so when you search, enter that name in the author field. Yes, the search function isn't so great, but by playing with variables like quotes and tranny+swap and so forth will yield results. No you don't have to change the gearing, I had a thread where people listed their vehicle with tranny and gear info and there was almost no rhyme or reason to the results. Yes, a donor vehicle is highly recommended, but remember, old 5 speeds can have issues also. There is a TSB about 'overfilling' the trannys with 5.1 liters of gear oil so the rear bearing set is properly lubed in all conditions. B

I personally do not endorse wheel spacers but recommend you go with a wider rim and/or more backspacing. A common size rim people put on the early pathfinders are 15" diameter X 8" wide X 4" back spacing, but if you are going to run 235/75/15 tires, I'd recommend going with a 7" rim instead since that size roughly equates to 29" diameter X 9" wide. B Oh, I deleted the double posted thread.

You are welcome. Please do and good luck, hopefully it needs nothing more than a fluid change and an aftermarket cooler... B

That is not a lot and normal if you actually filled it. The only time this is a problem is when you are doing something else and you rub against it... B

There is a comprehensive trouble shooting section in the Factory Service Manual, available for free download in the Garage section. This would be the best place to start IMO. B

Of course you do. Just tell him you had someone else look at it and that they were able to determine... It is not insuling him, it is educating him and unless he is a fool, that is the way he will take it. Don't be so quick to avoid the pagan method of mechanics, it can be rather... exhilarating. Besides, it's not like I told you to slaughter a chicken... B

Hey Nunya, you should have a Mod pin this in the How To section!! B
-
I don't know the answer personally, but I recall there being a few good write ups on locker installs and this must be covered in them. Check the Garage/How To section or do a general search. Let me know if you can't find anything... B

Paint- Narrow down to 2. Need opinions
Precise1 replied to brix542's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Of what you posted and with everything else going to be flat black, I vote for the ODB. B -
thought of a good decal to make for my pathy
Precise1 replied to jeremy's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Down Boy!! I think that most people wouldn't notice or get it and from some who do, a bit of ribbing. It's all about what you like... B -
I hope it goes smoothly... B

Welcome Bud!! I see you've met Nunya and he's filled you in on the tire carrier other than I believe it was 4x4parts.com who carried the install brackets? B

It sounds like you have resonance for one reason or another. First, I would make sure it is well anchored but with vibration mounts (not hard anchored). Second, make sure that it isn't contacting when the load on the drive train, ie the motor/tranny moves sideways due to damaged/aged mounts and it is enough to push the exhaust against something. Third, dance around a bonfire naked wearing a goat's head while chanting "Nissan... Nissan". B

Agreed Dowser, I need a place for some gauges and there ain't no rice about it!! I'm thinking 'with' because it will fit both and without. I'd guess that there are fewer without than with. I'll try to verify that... B Waffles

I agree that this doesn't sound like a transfer case/tranny issue. but a hub issue. Assuming we are wrong, changing an automatic tranny is not much harder than a manual tranny and there are several write ups here that will walk you through it. That said, you do need a garage or shop with plenty of tools and jacks to make it easier... You are wrong, I have done it myself. I believe it is harder to pull the motor without at least moving the tranny, but I have not done this task. B
-
This is a symptom that the tranny is failing, but keep reading. #1 is don't drive it!! From what I have read, reverse needs the highest pressure to operate so there is an issue with clogging or the pump. The stock radiator is also prone to clogging, making the tranny overheat, so many of us bypass that into an after market cooler. A few questions: How many miles on the vehicle and when was the tranny fluid last changed? What does it look/smell like?? Also, in the Garage section, there is a pinned topic on the Factory Service Manual. You can download a PDF version and there is a section on automatic trannies/trouble shooting that should help you out. Depending on what you learn, some people have gotten lucky with dropping the pan and look for bits in bottom, check/clean out the tranny lines in the radiator or bypass it into an aftermarket cooler and flush the tranny or replace the fluid. B

At 130k it is not even 1/2 way used up. We actually consider anything barely over 100k just broken in... Tune up, fuel filter, lube the chassis, clean the MAF and enjoy the trouble free driving!! B
-
Exactly. Also, go to the Garage section and look in the pinned topic for Factory Service Manual and download it for free. Invaluable reference and has sketches and diagrams too... B

If I understand correctly, this is a known issue of the drag link (center link here in NA) failing. It rotates under load, ovaling the tie rod end holes and twisting the same. There are several fixes from SAS, grassroots4x4 rebuild, twist stop brackets and slow down... Which one would you like a link to?? B
