  1. I hear ya bro. Sometimes the best thing you can do is step away. I changed the starter on my g/f's 4Runner ~ couldn't get the dang thing back in there, no matter how hard I tried. Went and had a brew, came out & the thing almost fell into place throwing it at the rig. Wished I'd taken a break earlier...
  2. Possibly tweaked a CV joint prior to backing your T-bars back down ? Might try a retorque on your various front suspension bolts, too. They're notorious for "popping" noises as you turn if they've loostened at all. You really should go through & check the torgue on them anyway after having work done, nothing says they got them all, or got them right. Might be tire rub on the stops, too... -thnkboutit-
  3. Welcome to the forums ! You'd have beter luck posting your questions in the "Garage" section, not a lot of peeps look in here. I'm no tranny expert, besides, I've got a 5 speed... and Merry Christmas !
  4. Welcome to the forums! Being a 2-door owner myself, I'd like to see your "conversion" ~ send some pics... Merry Christmas, too...
  5. Wasn't making fun ~ simply an observation... -study- Now that it's been mentioned, I've got a couple of old 'puters sitting in the garage... :type: As far as spellchecker, I thought that's what I had in my head... -thnkboutit- Browser Use Statistics
  6. Yeah, I worry 'bout going into California... no tint allowed by law on front door windows at all...
  7. I'm with IE just 'cause I'm lazy, too, even though most worms, etc. are designed to hit it being the standard browser. Isn't Firefox an outgrowth of the original Mozilla? Or was it Netscape ? :type:  Interesting to find this in the "garage"...

    Any gamers

<--- Lextronics Hope it's worth the wait, got lost in the first one for many a tense hour... Try the Sniper Armoury V1.3 for GR, Precise ~ if you don't already have it that is... also "One Shot One Kill"... for a lark try "Dangerous Babes" ~ take on the PMS baddies... here:GhostRecon.net
  9. HOLY SMOKES ! I paid $125. for mine, that was going with 5% "limo" tint on everything except my 2 doors ~ they got 25% or 30%, not sure. Whatever's legal in Nevada, anyhoo... I guess doing an '87 would be cheaper, there's less glass area than '90 & up... :contract:
  10. I'd imagine you'd end up with a lower-geared 2-wheel drive... if you take it all the way to 4-wheel lo...
  11. Wish I'd known that when mine went like 6 years ago in the middle of a 3 week vacation travelling... ended up going to a stealer & buying the new line (with all the multiple connectors) and replacing the whole ball of wax thinking it was something magical... I think it cost like 80 bucks (then) or something... :furious:

    Any gamers

I do the Ghost Recon (PC) thing. With the realism mods available, it get's pretty realistic ~ wounds based on battlefield autopsies, etc. Prefer recon ops in sniper mode... nothing like "reaching out & touching" someone from 1000 meters with a Barrett M-82 or a SVD Dragunov... I know PS2, Xbox, etc. have all greatly improved graphics-wise, online play, etc., but they'd be hardpressed to catch up with me on my trusty PC ~ ATI Radeon 9800 256Mb DDR, SoundBlaster Live! with Logitech 2.1 speakers, etc.
  13. Lets see, not really too much for it being an '87... little stuff mostly... Both the rear hatch and rear window struts need replacing ~ they do this--> so my head get's Both armrests on the doors are pretty much toast... Backup light switch needs replacing... Tires are reaching the end of their useful life... The dreaded exaust leak ~ not so little... Trying to time it so I can do a bunch at once, I want to put in a 3" BL, figure that will give me more room to install Thorleys ~ doing away with the leak. Planning on moving up to 32's on new rims, so that needs to wait on the BL as well. Maybe I'll have more room for the B/U switch while the body's loose, too...
  14. I'm running 31x10.50x15 on my stock Legos, no body lift ~ '87SE... I see no problemos...
  15. Personally I think alot of the probs with American iron is the fact that Detroit very seldom ever follow a design out (other than the ubiquitous small-block Fords & Chevys). Think about it ~ they're constantly coming out with something that's "all new for (name the year)". Toyota's been building on the Camry for what ? 25+ years ? Porsche has built their 900 series since 1965, Honda has it's Prelude, yadda, yadda, yadda. All of them refined to where they're virtually bulletproof. Planned obsolesence is Detroit's mainstay ~ it dies, you buy a new one... losing 10 large the first year. :contract: It takes years & years to refine a total engineering package, you can't just keep coming out with another one every 3-5 years. To me it's more a "sucker" deal for the "one up on the Joneses" people that have to have the latest & supposedly greatest. If Detroit cared more about reliability & quality than 6-way power ashtrays & 42 cupholders in their "Limited Edition" Loony Tunes minivan, you might see me in one (except an Aztec, of course  ). Until that day they can kiss my a$$... :X Really pay attention the next time you're out driving ~ take a note on how many GM (any brand) vehicles, whether they're truck, car, SUV, whatever, that have paint peeling off of them at 3 years old. Read the classifieds, how many 1990's Detroit rigs in there that have 125,000 miles or less that also have "new engine" or "new tranny" in the ad ? -study- A straight 6 will put out more torque than a V6, ask any BMW owner or Supra owner (me).
  16. Anybody try feeding the squirrells ?
  17. My exboss has one and a coworker's g/f has one, both of them say it's the worst rig they've ever owned ~ a true POS ~ cheap build quality, fit & finish is crap, reliabilty is questionable, you'll take it in the shorts while you own it & worse when you try to unload it... :contract: "BUY AMERICAN"... no thanks ! On the otherhand, I like the styling of the 2-doors, if that's any consolation...
  18. Don't believe the stealer for a minute, TrailChaser. The combo switch is easily changed by anyone that can figure out the right end of a screwdriver... a 10 minute fix at most ~ I know, I've replaced mine ~ they're trying to ream you. Buy a new one & do it yourself ~ it's a piece of cake if they ever quit again or you end up having the "disappearing" headlight thing. Might try getting in there & cleaning the contacts first... -thnkboutit-
  19. Are you using an isolator between the 2 batteries ? I'm assuming (ya, I know) you are for charging purposes. Did you just use a "generic" kit, or fab something up yourself ? -study-
  20. This will probably result in your going back in there (not enough fun the 1st time ?), the white spacer is to insure the yellow-thing-a-ma-bob stays in place. Otherwise it'll just fall right out of the hole after a short period. Just leave your door panel off... -bounce-
  21. Well, O.K., I may have been exagerating about the 3-6 month thing... Point I was making was that mine were wore out, after all, they were 6 years old when your Pathy was born. Then again, near as I can tell I use my directionals more than most people I see on the road, so maybe that contributed to their early demise... -thnkboutit-
