  1. Whooooo, those Bushwacker flares are slick. More than a few sweet options as well And yes, OEM flares are hard to find... NAPA can get them but they aren't cheap.
  2. 1/8 steel is pretty thick, and is stupid heavy. That being said, it would be great for serious armour but I think that gauge is pretty much overkill. 4x4parts.com sells skids made of 3/16 steel but I have yet to hear any freeback on them. I've got 10 gauge for my skid plate and it has proven itself both in strength and weight time and again (Black Panther is excellent). A diff cover, as far as I've been told, is virtually useless but it's totally your choice to go with one or not. Again, 4x4parts.com has an entire set available so take a look at theirs and see what you can blueprint. Best of luck with your armour project!
  3. I'll chime in R50's are tha bomb
  4. Thanks! I'm hoping for some kick-ass results myself. I'm thinking I'll need at least 3 gallons to do 2 layers on the body. I am going to double-check with Durabak once I finalize everything just to be sure. It won't be until late spring 2009 but I can't wait!
  5. Not to push my way into this thread or anything but I've got KYB GR-2 struts on my '98 and they are wicked both on and off the road. I've yet to experience the Rancho RSX struts but have heard they leave a lot to be desired when compared to the KYB's...
  6. Thanks for the info ya'll! Always love the uber wicked support on this forum. It is second to none Now that I know the centre bore is 4" I was able to contact an offroad shop here and confirm the appropriate wheel. Both models fit the bill so now the only choice is which one to go with...? The wheels in my head keep turning...
  7. Sweet, good experimentation That's always a key element when trying out new stuff I've got several buddies here who've done this paint app to their rigs and it's been nothing but positive feedback. They go wheeling every weekend and their paint remains unchanged. And that's really saying something where rust is a nasty reality for a good part of the year. I'm going to contact Durabak again and plead with them to ship me the goods. I haven't been able to find the stuff locally anywhere, even for it to be shipped...
  8. What up ya'll?! Ordered new CV axles for my '98 (went with the beefed up AC set from 4x4parts.com) and my mechanic suggested going with Warn Premium Locking Hubs to get the most out of the CV axles and supposedly improve fuel effeciency (?). So I went and ordered the Warn hubs but I failed to realize whehter or not they will fit my current wheels (Helo Maxx 8). I figured with snow on the way these Helo's are take a beating so I'm contemplating some steelies for the winter. Seeing how I've got hubs on the way, I'm not sure which wheels allow for them... Rock Crawler Series 51 or American Racing 767? If anyone can offer some advice that would be sweet BTW, the beefier AC CV axles are great
  9. Yup, rear diff cover is useless... About the AC skid plates, there isn't much info on the site... Best to just ask them
  10. Dean, your set up is killer and doesn't require much space. I like that Where did you find a battery like that?
  11. Thanks for the pics TNZ It looks to me like it is a direct swap, and I contacted an import diesel shop in Vancouver and they're pretty sure both engines use the same mounts. Let's hope that's the case
  12. Wow, kudos to ya'll down under! That solar panel stuff is an incredible idea! I would have never thought of that. Seriously, that would be a handy system to have virtually anytime. Holy wow is all I can say. BTW Geoff, that dual battery set-up on your Terrano is definitely badass
  13. Toyo makes Open Country AT with these dimensions: 235/70R17. Are those measurements similar to the stock rubbers on the R51? Here's the link: http://www.tiredeals4less.com/?CFID=779271...FTOKEN=31973003
  14. Are those load leveling spacers? Got any pics?
  15. Thanks for the info guys! You're all awesome!!! The engine I am researching is the turbo diesel model off the R50 JDM Terrano G3m-R, which is the QD32ETI. That's the turbo model produced for the Japanese market. The non-turbo model was an industrial application only, for forklifts, etc. The numbers are similar to the VG33E and the diesel does have a flatter torque band but I'm not sure how the turbo would affect that. I was also doing some further research and their is a turbo kit by AXT which on paper increases output by a supposed 50%. If that theory holds true I'd be stoked! The big issue is money, of course...
  16. Stick with your 17's a look into Toyo Open Country tires
  17. But isn't a 4x4 made for being functional on and off the road? Having 22's looks good, I'll give you that. But the 4x4 capability is shot with bling wheels
  18. Needs a lift and bigger rubbers! Looks badass though
  19. I've been researching sites around the globe about this and haven't had much luck yet. It's in regards to swapping my R50's stock VG33E for the JDM diesel engine (Neo-Di QD32) and I just hope to get some info about: 1) If the swap is possible, and 2) If it is a worthwhile idea and/or modification. I started this thread in the diesel engine section (http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19985) but thought maybe it'll get better coverage in the R50 section... Still pricing it out and looking at possible mods but any advice or info would be uber-valuable!
  20. I agree with XLPOR (Dean) on this one. The stock ride height on the R50 definitely leaves the off-road-going individual wanting more. Having an extra few inches of clearance comes in handy just about anywhere. I have yet to install a locker and haven't had any problems when I hit the trails... yet, that is. I think having both would be a deadly combo. I plan on installing a locker down the road but if I had to choose, the lift is it
  21. How's this for an idea: keep the red but Durabak it?
  22. Yo, nope, just the OEM flares. They're plastic so no need to replace them. The fenders I will pick up new though because it'll cost less anyway. Welcome to NPORA btw
  23. Thanks Harvey Unfortunately, there is little information on the engine itself, much less anything concerning a swap on this side of the globe... everywhere else had the diesel option so I might be SOL here... However, the tranny, rear and front diffs are exactly the same If only I could get my hands on a JDM R50...
  24. Not to be a huge post-hog or anything, but any word on if Marcel is alright, or back in business for that matter? Been doing my research on armor for my rig, and I dunno what other options there are for high quality stuff...
