  1. Hey everyone, good thread as this is an important topic for the R50 After checking out 4x4parts.com, I've done some serious thinking concerning the whole manual hub issue to ease wear on the CV axles. My Pathy is lifted and, after I noticed how angled the CV axles are, I've been wondering what I should do to alleviate my worries. Manual hubs are easily the best idea, but how about switching to a beefier set of CV axles as well? I've found these: https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_in...roducts_id=4305 Maybe these and the hubs would be uber tough... Any suggestions?
  2. Where did you find your snorkel? The one for the R50 on 4x4parts.com is for the JDM Terrano. The horizontal portion makes space for the antenna which would look kind of silly on a LHD North American R50...
  3. Really...? 3/16 steel seems pretty beefy... Marcel must be damn good if he makes his skid plates tougher than that. Damn! I wish he'd return 'cause I'd love a set of famed Black Panther skid plates Rumour has it he's from around these parts too... That would be boss for shipping. Hell, I'd just go pick them up
  4. Hey y'all Not to intrude on this thread or anything but I found a set of skid plates for the R50 online. Does Marcel also make these ones? Here's the link: https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_in...roducts_id=3456 This set seems pretty sweet; the price does not though
  5. Thanks for the advice I was wondering the same thing myself considering most paints are relatively thinner. Luckily I have the necessary equipment for this type of application ...or rather can borrow it when I go through with this project. I can't bear to watch any vehicle rust, let alone my own... That's why this paint seems to be a good, long-term idea: durability and rust-proofability (is that even a word?)
  6. Yes indeed my friend That or http://www.gowarn.com
  7. If purchased as a parts vehicle not necessarily You have a ton of sweet mods I'd like to put on my R50
  8. So 4 gallons you say? Werd, that sounds good to me As for the application process I don't think rolling would have the best results. My girlfriend's brother used a spray gun to apply the paint on his ride and it looks just deadly So I think for the same kind of results I'd do the same thing.
  9. I'd like to buy your truck but I doubt I could make it down to your area to do so... Your R50 is so badass
  10. What is up my fellow enthusiasts? After noticing the effects of winter roads (salt, sand and snow) on my R50 (not to mention many other imports), I have to invest in some serious body work, namely my rear quarter panels and fenders. I hate rust! It sucks! Boo-urns to rust! Anyhoo, I've come across a body paint called Durabak, and this stuff looks tough. It was originally designed as a truck bed liner but there are now several colours available. I've seen a offroad trucks in Winnipeg with this paint job and not only does it look badass, it serves a truly useful offroad purpose. On top of that, its texture makes it highly durable and virtually rust proof To that end, I was checking out the website tonight, and orders for this stuff are to be made by the gallon. I'm wondering if anyone might know how much paint is necessary to paint a R50... I have absolutely no idea what quantity would be required, so any help would be just uber sweet! Thanks PS - Here's the site in case anyone is interested
  11. Those diagrams are awesome! They're gonna come in mighty handy when I change my timing belt in the coming weeks. Thanks
  12. Word of advice to anyone interested in these premium hubs... Don't buy them from NAPA!!! I got a jobber price listing and it was about $230 Regular price was $300... That's brutal... just to let y'all know, you can buy 'em online for about $160... shipping might be $20-$30 Research goes a long way sometimes
  13. Lol no worries. Name's Tyler btw... but it's all good
  14. I agree with Rinat. Better off just getting OME springs.
  15. Ooops... I guess I failed to mention the most important part of this thread. I would love some mock TJM or authentic TJM bumpers... Those would provide some kick-ass functionality to armoring up the Pathy
  16. Damn right buddy! I don't know any Manitoban who would say no to that kid of offer
  17. Sweet! That's probably all I need. Thanks man
  18. Does anyone know the part # for the Warn Manual Hubs at NAPA? If so please let me know. I will love you forever!!!
  19. Well then, that makes a whole lot of sense and explains why it's so unique. Looks damn sexy Thanks for the info Fukinitupagain
  20. Good question buddy, and an important one when modding a rig I've got 32" tires on my R50 and thus far the stock brakes have worked great. Granted they are new pads and rotors... I bought the rig in April and drove it over 2000 km from where I bought it back to my home city and the brakes never failed me once in any way. In fact, in comparison to a stock R50 (my buddy also has a '98 rolling on the stock wheels and tires), I find my truck handles the stops much better, which is due to better quality rubbers which of course are in contact with the ground For argument's sake, you could beef up the fronts. That's always a good application on any vehicle anyway. But you could do that regardless of whether or not you wanted to throw on some larger rubbers. As for the ABS, I'll have to get back to you on that. In the rain it seems to work just fine but I have yet to put that feature to any real use. Once winter rolls in I'll have much more to tell about it. I think with the right tires though, the ABS would probably end up having to work less in those ulgy situations where stock tires might make the brakes and ABS work harder than they should. I guess what I'm saying is tire quality is as equally important as brake quality when it comes to stopping to your rig
  21. Awww, that is wicked!!! I contacted a company here in Canada that can import those lights; I'm still waiting on the price however If I do get lucky enough to get a set, I may ask for your help. After all, your R50 is quite well known for setting some amazing benchmarks! You're like a R50 pioneer man!!! Me jealous Thanks for the info
  22. Ah yes... good point. I guess I am a bit late eh? In any case, that's a nice snorkel... it's so flush with the fender... The one sold on 4x4parts.com looks quite different in comparison
  23. Yee yee, I think the biggest issue at hand is cost... but I'm trying to be uber-optimistic in the hopes that it could be done without me having to sell my soul Regardless of the rear disc conversion I am definitely going to beef up the front brakes come spring. I bought the truck with all new pads, rotors, etc. up front so I'll run 'em through winter and wait till spring. I'm still wondering if the Terrano (JDM Pathy) did come with 4-way discs or not... If that were the case, it wouldn't be that crazy expensive to ship in the JDM rear and just swap it on... shipping would be pretty nasty but meh... I just thought about this idea and my mind kept running with it Ooops... This thread is gonna live on until I find out the truth! It must be known!!!
  24. DooD!!! You have the JDM Terrano headlights!!!! I gotta ask you, where did you find them? Was it easy to install? I've been wanting to do that mod since I picked up my Pathy...
