  1. I've noticed the same too... If the tranny is cold (except in summer), 1st->2nd shift is always a bid hard; the rest are like butter. Once it warms up though, it's all gravy. Maybe a tranny flush and then throw in some Posi-trak? My buddy's '98 had that issue: he flushed it, refilled it and added Posi-trak, and now it shifts without a hitch. His tranny has well over 300k where mine only has 168k and his shifts as nicely as mine does.
  2. That's a lousy deal... I feel your pain! I plan to part ways with my OEM roof rack on my '98 sometime in the coming spring. Let me know if you're still interested cuz it's the same gen R50. Best of luck in your endeavour
  3. Hehe yeah, when I walked in to pick them up, he had completely forgotten about me and my order... He thought I had ordered 22's... I burst out laughing and told him I had ordered the 16X8 steelies for a Pathfinder. Then he knew who I was and what I ordered. And yes, they look great. I am partial to the pinstripes too, the add a nice touch. The OEM hubs are a huge eyesore, as well as the exposed drum in the rear. The centre caps I got with the deal are kind of imposing... I need to look for better ones, preferably smaller with some kind of shape. Any suggestions?
  4. LOL, gladly! The JDM R50 Terrano came with digital auto-climate control, electronic rear-glass switch/actuator, HID/projector headlights with self-adjusting foglights, a 3.2L Neo-Di diesel engine option, electronic folding mirrors (most JDM vehicles come with this standard). The R50 Terrano Regulus (Infiniti QX4) had all these same features but had All-Mode standard from 98-04 and rear LSD standard (optional for the Terrano). Through Nissan, other optional parts included vent visors (over-sized and nasty I find), OEM hood deflector, rear back-up mirror, and OEM grill/bumper guard with light mounts. My research is still in progress; I'll update when I've come across new info. Lucky Japanese, keeping all the goodies to themselves!
  5. Scratch that... Buddy ordered the AR767's instead... They look badass in any case. Now just waiting on the dang hubs.
  6. R51 isn't a 6x5.5 bolt pattern? That's odd... Oh well, that's clearly not an option at all then. As for the Titan/Armada approach, I had a feeling it'd be pricey. Maybe just going the wrecker and finding a WD21 rear set would be best. I have yet to install cross-drilled/slotted rotors but it goes without saying a brake upgrade is a good investment, especially when other mods are in place (suspension, drivetrain, etc.). If only Brembo made a R50 brake kit...
  7. If I can afford it by next spring, you might have a taker! BTW, would R51 discs or Titan/Armada discs be easier?
  8. An awesome application but incredibly expensive!
  9. There are many goodies the North American models never had but came standard on most JDM models. I'm not sure why this is but keep in mind they are available and are pretty much direct bolt-ons. The Jimmy doesn't have such an option. Good comparison on two similarly-classed vehicles. I had the opportunity to own both and I must say I'm all for the Japanese workmanship. The little details and the added creature comforts are what sell me, not to mention the purely genuine effort put into their automotive manufacturing.
  10. The rear doesn't change much as long as you've upgraded from OEM springs... I was able to custom build detachable sway bar links but I still need to to figure out a way to to fasten them and the sway bar when disconnected... For the moment it just hang there so it's a little nerve-wracking when going off-road. As for the the front, I figure the OEM springs wouldn't provide enough support so aftermarket parts would be necessary. Gonna try all this when spring rolls around... For now, it's just too damn cold!
  11. That is by far a R50 for the ages... A thousand years from now stories will be told about this legendary machine. That's almost too much to look at pics... The videos are pure beauty... Truly an ode that impossible is nothing if you apply oneself. Kudos to you Tyler!
  12. LOL, that would be an awesome idea! To import it from Japan plus the turbo upgrade I'm looking at $5K which is just silly... If I had that sorta money I'd prolly do a V8 swap and subframe drop. Or buy me a Titan and mod the piss out of it. But I digress, if the price was right and the engine was in good shape and with reasonable mileage, I would consider that a realistic approach. I wouldn't be surprised if they would stuff the engine full of drugs though...
  13. It's just an opinion. I'm not here to knock anyone; I am here to express my opinion as this is essentially the purpose of a forum.
  14. I challenge you to a duel. Pistols at dawn! I can only afford the water-shooting type though...
  15. Fuel efficiency aside, you're right. And props to you for not being oblivious to it because Koren cars just bite. Kia and Hyundai would do us all a favour and just stop making vehicles altogether. No disrespect to Koreans but leave the Asian automaking to those who do it best and have done it best for over 100 years
  16. Agreed! Maybe the makers of Dirt will stumble across this thread and that'll get the ball rolling. Or a petition!! Hehe
  17. LOL, I couldn't agree with you more Petrus! The only argument would be the pimps... They only drive Escalades or Yukon Denali XLs... And yeah, posers don't just hide behind 24's. There are guys everywhere who jack up a pick-up but never take it off the pavement. That is the epitome of a poser. You're 10,000% right though. Blades and low-profile rubbers on a 4x4 is about as functional as putting dirtbike tires on a crotch rocket.
  18. LOL, that would be pretty rough if that were the case. Actually, the layout on my desktop at work only makes half of the typing space visible and I just got lazy and chose not to scroll... Hitting Enter was just an easy way out. However, I have figured out how to fix it so now I'm able to see the whole area. Sorry for being a lazy douche
  19. As a matter of fact, Dirt is probably the latest entry which really only skims the surface of the 4x4 truck category. It's predominantly a rally car game; there are, however, a few trucks available in the Rally Raid category, and only one from Nissan: the Frontier. Dirt is easily the pinnacle in terms of games in the off-road category and it is a pure blast to play; it does leave me wanting way more. There is no actual modification/customization in terms of parts and upgrades; the tuning is pretty in-depth which is good. But I'm talking a game where you can choose from dozens of real-life 4x4 rigs and modify and tune them for numerous off-road events, where speed isn't always the way to win (Need for Speed ain't my cup o' tea) and some actual vehicle knowledge makes the difference. I'm wondering if CodeMasters (the makers of Dirt and Grid) have thought about this because their two latest racing entries are excellent games. It would be pretty sweet to immortalize my R50 by being able to use it in a video game. It be equally sweet to mod a Patrol... they aren't available in Canada.
  20. What's up everyone? Being a NPORA member these last few months, I've come to feel part of a really unique and exciting phenomenon in regards to Nissan fans and 4x4 enthusiasts. To some degree or another, each of us adore the Pathfinder (therefore Nissan) as well as other Nissan vehicles, and we all enjoy making the most of our experience wheelin' in our rigs. I've had my R50 since April of this year, and in that time I've come to love it in just about every way, modifying it to suit my interests and my day-to-day needs (the former easily takes precdence however). Owning a Nissan for the first time has also peaked my interest in Nissan vehicles, especially the trucks. In all honesty, I've been a die-hard Nissan fan since I was a no-good adolescent: with the launch of the Gran Turismo series back in '98 (same year as my Pathy!), I fell into a deep obsession with Nissan's JDM line-up, specifically the Skyline GT-R and Silvia... Back then, nothing was cooler than getting 930+ horses out of a R33 GT-R V-Spec and rippin' it on Special Stage R11. Ahhh, memories... But I digress... the reason I'm bringing up GT is for the sole fact as to how much of an impact it had on car enthusiasm. Take a look at GT5 Prologue now and it's practically real life. Serious R&D which, for over a decade, actually helped design Japan's latest (and second in production terms) supercar: the beastly GT-R. That makes me wonder: if a 4x4 game of this calibre existed, would there be a similar result? Would we see a production Pathfinder capable of handling serious off-road duties but still function as a day-to-day city driver? Or a 'supertruck' in the form of a Nissan Titan? Considering the benefits of CAD (computer-assisted design), wouldn't it be just as beneficial to have a off-roading simulation game? Imagine a Gran Turismo 4x4 edition... The speed and excitement of mud racing, the technique and meticulousness of rock-crawling and hill-climbing, the endurance and calculation of rally expeditions... It's seriously mind-boggling such a game has not yet been made. I can't afford to own all the toys I want (the list is stupid long) and having a game like GT has at least allowed for some idea how it feels to drive a GT-R... The same would be cool for a jacked-up Titan rollin' on 40" mudders and tearing sh*t up. Anyhoo, forgive me for the lengthy post... Just wondering if anyone else has ever thought of this. It would be boss for this dream to become a reality.
  21. LOL sorry... just became a natural reflex texting... In that regard I'm a bit OCD.
  22. So they won't ship here as it is HAZMAT. Fair enough reason, I suppose. That still blows goats because no one in Canada carries it. So if you could ship it for me that would be stellar
  23. Ordered the Rock Crawler Series 51 in a 16x8" with 5" backspacing.
