  1. This is all new to me as well. Thanks for the info though
  2. Oh for sure, money is always an issue... My Pathy isn't the only thing to which that applies. But for that axle swap I wonder which would fit. A Nissan donor would be ideal... right?
  3. I noticed tmorgan's wicked R50 has, among other badass things, a rear axle with... wait for it... disc brakes! I wonder where that came from and if that swap would be possible without the whole SAS application.
  4. The cab intake seems like a unique and good idea but noise would be a huge issue no? For wheelin' in water it would serve a purpose: I don't know why anyone would wanna risk getting water in their cab and consequently in their engine. But on the badassness meter, the snorkel stills takes the cake
  5. Not even if I put spacers in the front and rear?
  6. Lol true enough... Forgive me, my forum abbrevations are pretty much non-existent... But yeah, the wreckers rarely have a R50 with fenders intact. At least around these parts. The only option remains NAPA... alas, the tundra be a lonely place.
  7. I got the price from NAPA today on the fenders. Non-flare type is 135.33 per side, flare-type is 155.33 per side. Beats the heck out of dealer pricing any day!
  8. On the fenders it started at random points near the anchors... All it took was a little dust, salt and moisture to start the rust... Only option now is to get it fixed.
  9. I don't know where they live... but that's because I'm totally clueless on what a JY is... lol
  10. Tow truck look eh...? It does look raked for sure but that is bad ass I love how my Pathy sits... it's a truck, but has a real sporty look and feel to it... Oh wait, it's an SUV
  11. Tow truck look? I was thinking strut spacers up front and maybe polyurethane coil spacers for the back... still totally unsure 'cuz 2" has been better than alright for me so far. Do you have both apps on your Pathy?
  12. True enough... It's almost best to have someone inform you as soon as a Pathy comes into the wrecker so you can get first dibs... Otherwise I'd say meh... As for NAPA, it is a gazillion times better than dealer "pricing"... "Gouging" seems more appropriate to me. And I've been going to NAPA since I picked up my Pathy in April and I've been able to haggle prices. It may help save you a few bucks, which always add up in the long run. Try your best to get them to give you a deal
  13. Oh sweet! So then a spacer app would be a good way to add extra space...?! That's awesome!
  14. Well wreckers tend to be really good price-wise but kind of infrequent and results are purely luck... So I did the next best thing: went to NAPA and got a set on back-order. Just be sure to let them know whether your fenders have the OEM flares or not, as the part #'s vary They end up about $400 for the set with flares... Without was $300-something-ish... And you're totally right Pezzy, rust is cancer for vehicles... It's quite sad Why they still use salt on the roads in winter is waaaay beyond me... it's totally useless!!!
  15. ***Important notice to R50 owners with detachable fender flares*** So I noticed a small rust bubble on my right-side quarter panel a while back and finally decided to take my flares off yesterday... Oh man I nearly started to cry! I knew I had to get some body work done but whoa... The quarter panel will need, without any doubt in my mind, some serious welding done... The left-side quarter panel was has some minor surface rust (which is no big deal to repair). And both fenders will need to be replaced due to rust penetration on both. Luckily, fenders are cheap to buy and pretty easy to replace, and with my plans to apply Durabak paint I'll wait that out till spring (please see Paint thread http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19811 for more info), but the body work on the rear quarter panels will have to be done asap. More money I have to spend that I don't have... I've noticed this rust issue on many R50's in Winnipeg and I would imagine the fender flares only accelerate the problem. To that end, I'm gonna experiment with some ideas to rust-proof those rust target areas once the body work is done. PS - I'll post pics of before and after of my progress. I would now but it's waaaay dark out
  16. Rondex, you say? No, that hadn't even crossed my mind... But I will call and see what they can do
  17. So with a 2" lift kit already installed, I'd probably have to do a sub-frame drop in order to intall spacers?
  18. I've been thinking of combining both apps to make way for 33" tires... that is, strut tower spacers and and polyurethane coil spacers in the rear... Still thinking about it with the other stuff I have to get done beforehand... But with spacers installed won't the CV axles get even more angled, resulting in more stress on them? But just for the record, I'd still go with a lift kit just because it mean in beefier springs (which make a HUGE difference off-road) and plushier struts and shocks (which really improve on-road handling and off-road damping when absorbing bumps and such).
  19. Are those Black Panther skids? I'd like 'em if possible! That's a sweet-ass Sube by the way. Nice colour and excellent off-road capability. It does reminds me of that commerical with the sumos though... *shudder*
  20. Against it... too many nasty accidents in Winnipeg due to drinking and driving. On the trails though, to eash his/her own. As long as it doesn't put anyone else at risk but the person drinking. Riding shotty on trails while being half in the bag is quite a good time though
  21. Lol I agree with you there 100% 88... Although doing that would look pretty, um, interesting...? I contacted Durabak, and they won't ship directly to a Canadian address...! That means I'd have to go to the border to pick it up. Just wanted to let any other Canucks know this in case any of y'all would want to do this paint app. So 2 gallons it is... Seeing as how I need to mix in Xylene to thin it out in order to spray it, that amount should do the trick
  22. Hope everything is okay... Hoping you can make me some armor :D

  23. Thanks guys! :D I'm hoping to go through with this project... but it will require some serious work. I'm thinking I'll actually take the panels, hatch and doors off... Paint 'em all separate as to avoid clearance issues... Hopefully I can get some help from a paintshop or the like, either for the app or just suggestions to make it easy. Of course I'll post pics! I'm hoping to do some real sweet-ass custom work with the paint, in the ultimate hopes of rendering my Pathy's body and chassis invincible from rust... I just hate rust so damn much...!
