-
tru dat and if the struts/shocks are that old...and your replacing the springs...you might as well do it all and enjoy the wonderful new ride. Unless everything is OkieDokie... Tye

THAT is one of the best comments ive heard latley!!!! Nevermind supporting the local guy here or there or wherever...how about supporting "ANYONE" especially commercially tht makes parts for our poor little R50's. Im ordering mine as soon as i can find the $!!!!! Tye -

Hawzzy replied to Boosted's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
those kyb rear shocks are probably too short, probably for stock replacement with no lift. I did a lift on my 01 last month and i have lots of info/specs if you want em..i think i might even have some stock and longer shock lengths and specs. Tye Of course cant locate them right this second darnit... -
thats nice and neat...i have a ? tho...does it seal tight against your hood and such??? and if it does...did you remove the stock air/water reservoir thats under the airbox? (that plastice tubular thingy thats in the wheel well and the front fender. In my 01 its very restrictive with the airflow..only series of small holes for air to come in!!! Tye

a bit of a side note...sort of related....can i remove/detach the stabilzer/antisway bar without consequence when i go off roading???? And what about the Pan Hard Rod...i lost 1-1.5 " of lift when i had to reconnect that thing...still dont have a longer one or a drop down bracket!! Tye -
LMFAO..." I dont care WHO you R....DAT DER WAS FUNNY!!!!" My rear seals are fine...just my driver side at the bottm of door...noticed some rust in edge of cab..upon further inspection most of the "tabs" holding the seal on the door had been torn away...obvioulsy not sealing too well anymore. Tye
-
i didnt do the converting...but the best ive ever gotten was 500 or so km/per tank and now just after lift i got 400 km almost all highway....i know the truck isnt running right too!!! Tye How many gallons capacity???
-
actually better than i thought...turns out that when i prepared to switch hubs, realized the ball joint nut wasnt tight enuff..(new ones have nylon nut instead of cotter pin)...i had to clamp the ball joint tight to the control arm and then was able to tighten the stud nut properly, saved me switching the whole spindle...took the spare back for a refund. Didnt replace the hubs yet...going to tho...FOR SURE! Tires are 31x 10.5 roughrider M+S on 15" steelies. There is definately room for 33" tires there tho!!! Tye

im curious too.. i have a large cone shaped K&N from a previous ride...thought bought tryin too adapt it to the pathy...think ill wait for the input here...also i could use a little throttle response. Lately the pathy is down on power... ses light on and very noticeable lag in power...nother thread thou right???? Tye

i was thinkin...y not get sometone to make that up for me (dont have the means myself)...but really...can someone make it for less money...not for a retail price...i doubt it! Unless you have friends tht have metal shops eh???? I think ill look into it, even tho after replacing my TOTAL suspension and links...i couldnt imagine it handling better of stiffer!!!!! Tye P.S. just looked...thats my "69th" post...closer to 100. tee hee -
for the 2001...they only offer the MD coils...no HD or theyd be on there now!!! Thats the only reason for me. Besides the HD coils in the back would raise it significantly more than the front therefore causing extreme "RAKE" which everyone seems to try and avoid! (the "tow truck" or "drag car" look) The mfr only recommends the HD coils up front if you have bumper/winch combo as well! I dont yet and the ride is just fine!! Tye
-
nicely put...i couldnt agree more!!! TYE
-
if you go the way i did...OME HD coils up front...you dont need spacers..the heavier spring carries the front end high enuf not to need spacers...people just get them to "level"out the look of the truck. They are a heavier spring rate tan the AC's so i dont think they will tire or sag as soon personally!! Tye Just parked my pathy next to a stock one of the same year today...im at least 3-4 inches taller with lift and 31" tires!!! Oh yeah... its the struts and shocks from OME that are sooooo much more$$$ the springs are actually cheaper!!!

Had to replace the tranny in my 01 last year...my wife brings it home and its pissing out oil...(didnt before)then she takes it back and they say they "adressed" it! Say its a crack in the upper oil pan and the tranny needs to come out again or the motor to be lifted (2000.00$$$ on top of the 5500.00 already!!)It comes back pissing out oil. I take it back with her a couple days later show it to the mechanics...they say must have been a crack in the pan an its just gotten worse. (SUDDENLY???) I yell saying that they coulda mentioned it when they had the FREAKIN tranny out 3 days ago and saved the 2000.00$$$...later a mechanic says he "bandaided" the crack with some silcone of something...admitting they new bout the oil leak...WHICH WASNT THERE B4!!! So I ask to spaeak with the shop manager...he comes with no resolution...so i ask for the owner...ITS THE SHOP MANGERS WIFE! They are co-owners!!!!! Needles to say i still have an oil leak from somewhere mysterious!!!! And im pretty bitter bout it too!!! EXPERIENCE NISSAN ORLLIA (SUCKS)

so ill add my two cents worth now too...ive only had my OME lift for 3wks now...LUV IT! GR-2 struts not OME. LUV them...stiff like sports car in turns...i measured my rear fender height when i installed and i gained 2.5" + another full inch with new tires. Then i hooked up the panhard rod and lost over an inch of lift!!! Need longer Rod or a Rod drop down bracket to realign rear end. (not a big deal now) If you read about the lift it is actually a .5" lift (rated for .5" over stock height with "X" number of lbs over stock) "X" varied by the spring rate...light, medium or heavy duty. One other useful piece of info is that the stock springs on my '01 were rated 115#/inch...the "1.75" OME HD coils are rated 200#/inch, the MD coils are 145 #/inch and the 2" AC ccoils are 165#/inch. So far ive tested mine out on and off road and i am pleased with my setup so far!! Just wish that HD coils were avail for the back of my 01.

I think you are in the 1 millionth percentile of persons in your position...never knew someone whos lost a vehicle EVER get it back in mostly one piece. Lucky you, good luck getting it back in shape and better than ever!! Sucks bout the tools tho...did they let you keep the new knife???LOL Tye
-
VERY well put...braking does suck either way......... sooooooooo there!!! Tye Then again...now that i think about it...when i had the thing apart last week...the pads were low and the rotors were really glazed over!! my bad!!
-
Well, i dont have the same truck, and i havent "replaced" my half shafts but ill give you a vote of confidence. Im in the same boat..only done brakes, minor tuneups etc...just finished a COMPLETE suspension replacement and upgrade in my truck. Only basic tools,(and a couple borrowed ones) a Haynes manual and a whole lotta determination is what got me by. I did have to remove the C.V's once and if you can get all the old fasteners off...its really not that bad!!!!!!! So if I can do it so can YOU! Trust me on this one!!!! Tye
