Okay, brief update: The manual box out of a 1994 2wd HB pickup WILL work without chopping the case. My initial measurements were flawed due to an excess of unnecessary items in the way. (IE body lift bumper relo bracket, trans lines, etc.) Once those items were moved or removed, the box was test fitted, and then notched out appropriately in order to utilize all four mounting bolts. The cap was welded, and the box along with the hoohaa, two pitman arms and some TRE adjustment sleeves were sandblasted and are now awaiting powder coating at my buddies shop... Ready to be sandblasted, the pitman that is colored was rattle canned to see how the blue would look. All sandblasted and ready to powder coat. Still hunting a seal...hopefully today....

I have ran 31's, and now run 33's with the 3+3 lift. There is a link to my website with all the pics and info in my profile. I have heard good and bad about the PS headers. But then again, the same about the Thorley's. I need to replace my manifolds as they leak bad, and headers are the logical choice...just not 100% sold on what to go with...

Okay, got the whole unit tore down to just an empty case. The pitman (think that's what it is called) seal is leaking, so that will have to be replaced. Just gotta find a daggum place that sells one...before I yank it out, as a last resort and cross numbers over... Hopefully will will have the case chopped and welded in the next few days, I can literally feel the excitement of having her back on the road...man, the anticipation of this is wicked! Any suggestions on the seal? Time for sleep...kids start school tomorrow...

Okay guys, so I have hunted all the local yards, and even went as far as checking online, in the immediate area I could not find a late 80's to early 90's manual steering gear box for this mod. What I was able to come up with, was a 94 HB manual gear box, which has the large shaft/spline pitman. The only drawback is that the box is not that much smaller than the power steering gear box I have already on the pathfinder. So, a little bit of measuring and I believe I can solve the fitment issues, because the way it sits now, even with the 3 inch BL, it won't fit right... I plan on trimming the case as shown (by the red line) and welding a plate back over the exposed section, after removing the worm gear and other corresponding parts. I will probably drill and tap said plate, and install a plug for adding fluid if necessary. The good thing about this massive box, is it has the LARGE shaft just like my power steering box, and I already have another power steer pitman arm, from a 94 Pathfinder. So the added strength of having BOTH large shaft boxes, merely increases the chance of NOT failing any time soon... Here is a pic...

I can agree with you there. All I do is work, and man does it suck at times.

Just FYI hoohaa hasnt logged in on this board since february. As long as it doesn't rotate it will be all good! (I know it will fix my issues at least, the factory CL was not designed for lifting applications for sure!!) I am with ya, after all the mods, I am more apt to NOT go wheeling for fear of tearing up my truck, but man I would wheel the fire out of it before I modded it...

You are right on the money...but then again when I was in Kalifornia I was surrounded by queers...hahaha JK I loved my mig welder, probably more than I love my wife...but it was sold...so now its just me and the wife... Eventually I will score another welder. My main prerogative is a compressor...my motor went out and I cant get the wife on board to buy a new one! (My carport is my garage!) Can't wait to see those sliders installed....

I have not had any issues with the engine systems. Only issue I have as of now is waiting for the dang hoohaa to arrive...

I have plugged sidewall holes before, but if it is as big as you say, then either go the vulcanize route or tube and patch. Had a set of 38 inch pro comp xterrains that had broken belts in them, they would bubble out if they were aired up....so we put some tubes from co-op in them. They wouldn't balance, but they had such great tread we couldn't throw em to the dogs... They lasted for a long time, as it was a trailer rig. Bottom line, your cooler than me because you carry mount/dismount tools in your truck.... A BFH and some large screwdrivers!!!

I have searched for the thread, but I think that site went down long ago... Those Jim Connor bars and even his lifts were wicked cool. The only issue ever reported with the dual stage bars was the sleeve that connected the two... Over years of hard abuse the splines would allegedly strip out. Good picture of Nissan aftermarket history! LOL
