  1. I've been thinking about some amour for my QX4, but I've heard these brush guards may be more for looks than function. I want something that looks good, but only if it offers protection as well. So let's settle it - is this a damage multiplier or a guard? Let's not talk opinions, but engineering. What makes it weak and what should we look for in a strong front end protector?
  2. What's the backside of that look like? I assume the little door is to access the oil filter, how's it work? Looks like it can take a lick.
  3. In lieu of the BIG bucks it would take to replace the bumper perhaps this is an option for me. I need to learn to weld...
  4. Thanks so much. More to file away for future mods!
  5. So.... I have a hitch now. Would this just weld onto the existing hitch I have? It seems like that is a lot of weight on a single arm.
  6. This front skid plate is just the bottom. Do you think adding some sides makes it more effective, structurally stronger?
  7. resurrecting an old thread... How does this attach? Does it attach to a tow hitch? I'm a little confused about it, but I like the concept I think.
  8. This is great stuff. What's the width of the plate? What's the thickness? Is that steel or aluminum?
  9. So it doesn't sound like we can mod the OEM tank to hold more and buying a larger capacity tank is too expensive. How about mounting a fuel cell on the roof rack and using a small hose to gravity feed fuel from the roof to the refill the tank? https://www.amazon.com/10-Gallon-Aluminum-Street-Racing-Sender/dp/B00ZJY5J8U/ref=sr_1_14?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1539578749&sr=1-14&keywords=black+fuel+tank
  10. I know we've been talking about the Role rack, but I found this universal one on Amazon for $100 bucks. Thoughts? It's about 1/2 the price. The dimensions still work to use the conduit connectors.
  11. So you toss 100-200 lbs of firewood on the roof rack?
  12. For the skid plates, how strong do you think that the aluminum is vs steel? I'm sure you considered both, but I'm wondering why you chose aluminum over steel. Was it cost or strength?
  13. I tossed the cheapo led bulbs and replaced the OEM bulbs, but it still doesn't work. What's pcb?
  14. So my interior lights stopped working - both map lights, the dome light and the cargo light. Interestingly the garage door opener stopped too. You may recall that I replaced one the map lights with a cheap eBay led bulb. It worked fine. Thursday I tried to replace the dome light with another led bulb. I couldn't get it to work and now nothing works. I'm assuming I blew a fuse somewhere. Any idea which one it is?
  15. I've carried Christmas Trees, lumber, and various things on the roof with the standard bars, but I've never known what the limit is. I would love to be able to stand not he roof, but I'm too nervous to try. I really like your electrical conduit mounts. I think that's exactly the solution I've been looking for.
  16. What is the weight limit of a rack on top of an R50.
  17. Nice write up dude. I like mounting with the OE rails and electrical conduits for mounting.
  18. Seems like we lack a consensus here. Some folks say absolutely for a slow static pull and others say light duty only. It appears no one likes the snatch recovery with them. Let me ask this question, if they are securely bolted to the unibody wouldn't that be how a big custom bumper is mounted as well? I was thinking about the unibody just being welded nuts in a tube. What if we instead drilled a hole all the way through the box, inserted a small pipe as a sleeve, and then a solid bolt all the way through? Follow me?
  19. How is that roof rack mounted and what kind is it?
  20. I post my pics online in photobucket and then link to them like this Can wait to see your pics.
