  1. I did the roof last because I had being on the little ladder. I fell once and almost killed myself!
  2. I don't have any hood glare at all. I thought about the amber for campgrounds as well so as not to blind people as much. I also thought it would match the OE fogs. Not sure what you mean by linking again?
  3. The light bar also has a series of flashing lights which this short video shows me cycling through.
  4. My suspension is definitely sagging. I measured around once and I'm at least one inch low, maybe two, from stock. I'm contemplating a 2" lift, which would be 2" from stock which I'm not even at right now! As for that water crossing.... I got my four wheeler stuck in that last spring.... I didn't even try.
  5. I've been working a lot on my QX4 the last few months, repairs and detailing and small modifications. Today I was finally able to take it back out to the woods. My farm is about 2 hours away on by Interstate. Then I wheeled around in the woods a while and then took some back roads home. Happy to say everything functioned well. The window guards I installed are a little noisy I think or maybe it was the light bar. At any rate, turning up the radio solves the problem. Here are a few sights from the middle of the woods Here I am on down the trail I was a little intimidated by this water crossing What would you have done? A few sights on the back roads home
  6. I did several things today. I finished my light bar: and I hardwired a battery tender pigtail to the battery:
  7. Not sure if they're the same, but while I agree they look cool the consensus around here will be that they're more of a damage multiplier than a guard. As long as you don't plan to hit anything...
  8. Test drive. OE headlights Just the amber lights, headlights off Just the white light, headlights off Whitelights and headlights I had the lights adjusted much higher earlier and it worked well for the white lights. They can really throw the light further down the street/trail. But if I wanted to use the amber lights I needed to aim it lower.
  9. Note that the screws that came with the light bar for the mounting are an allen head with a little peg in the middle. So, I saved the special wrench, along with the other two that came with it, in a small zip lock with the instructions. I'll keep this in the glove box.
  10. It was nice to finally have it hooked up. White light: Amber light (that will match the lower fogs Back view The switch is a wireless fob. I used one of the black twisty ties and mounted it to the visor. I originally had it on the passenger visor, but moved it to the drivers visor.
  11. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, the light bar came with a wire from the bar that was too short. I couldn't find a 3-wire covered wire, but I did find a 4-wire with matching wires and one extra green wire. I ran it down the weather stripping along the windshield. I could use a little advice getting it seated back in tight. The wire came out right in the engine compartment. I just cut the green wire off and didn't use it. Cost for the wire was about $4. I had to buy some male spade connectors to connect it, another few bucks there. I soldered the new wires to the harness, added some electrical tape and a heat shrink. Plugged right in. Then I ran picked back up on the controller harness that came with the light bar. I ran it along the firewall using the brake lines (I think that's what they are) to the other side of the engine bay. I couldn't really find a place to mount it on the firewall. There were a few threaded holes on the firewall, but a screw that fit them wouldn't go through the holes in the controller. So, what's a good ol' boy from the south to do? I zip tied it to something! It's really attached well and if I need to get to whatever that is underneath it, I'll just cut the zip ties. I now realize I need a power distribution block, but in the meantime I went ahead straight to the battery. I added an extra nut rather than compromise the stability of the connection to the battery. Works well. For the hot wire, I've been going to this fuse box behind the battery. This is a fused wire.
  12. Worked on extending the wiring a little tonight. I'll finish the install this week and post up more pics and how to.
  13. I've seen that little icon on some models, I think my 94 Q45 had them, but not on any vehicles I have now. However, I do know my Q70 has them without the icon. I was pleasantly surprised to learn it had them too.
  14. Awesome info, Y'all almost have me talked into it. I've been reading the posts about the Land Rover springs. Seems like a good idea to go for those all the way around for a 2" lift. AND, with a 2" lift I shouldn't have to do anything other than the springs.
  15. Seriously, I don't know if I have this function or not. Besides having frost or snow (which I don't have yet) how can I tell?
  16. It isn't the size of the button that matters...
  17. I wonder why mine isn't connected. To the best of my knowledge the pan has never been off.
  18. Well, you're right. The FSM reads 5w30.... Should be ok until the next oil change?
  19. Day off from work today so I casually changed the oil in between football games, meals, and games with the family. I'm not exactly sure when it was last changed, but it definately time. It was really dark and the filter was heavy. ? I loaded it up with 5w-20 Mobil 1 Full Synthetic and a Mobil 1 filter. (M1-110A). The end of the plug had some sludge on it. The inside of the oil cap had some caked on oil that I had to scrub to get off. Where the filter spins on had some gunk too. Well, now everything is clean and I'll keep an eye on it. I think the Mobil 1 will clean it up over time. I thought about getting some oil additive, but decided against that stuff. I'm afraid it's snake oil. Right before the next oil change I may run some Seafoam in it. I'll probably change it after 5k for a while.
  20. I was changing the oil in my car today and noticed the brackets on this line aren't attached to anything. I couldn't find out where they go? Can anyone take a photo of theirs and show me how it should be?
  21. My wife came back and said it could also look like a spiked color on a mean dog! That's better, but I can't get the other picture out of my head now.
  22. My wife just said every time she walks by the QX4's light bar she thinks it has a rhinestone encrusted tiara on. Now instead of a cool masculine off road lights all I can think of is a tiara. :rolleyes Maybe I should just call it a princess. lol
  23. This is a good thread, it just keeps coming back from the dead.
  24. It’s really hard to photograph how slick and smooth she is now. Better than new. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
