You don't clean O2 sensors, you replace them. Have you tried pulling a plug wire off and checking for spark?

You need to get a copy of the Nissan FAST parts index system. Per mine, the part numbers for my 90 are 76842-83G01 on the right, 76843-83G01 on the left, $27.15 each (plus shipping) at nissanparts.cc. Nissan dealership list is $35.63 - so you might just want to get those locally. Nissanparts.cc is great for mail order Nissan parts. However, the Nissan dealership should be able to tell you what part numbers are, etc, etc.
-
My suspicion is that my 90 is just a very early production model, despite it's official construction date of 4/90. It's definitely a 90, but there's a number of inconsistencies with the "official" 1990 spec. There are NO switches in my center console at all, nor are there blank spots for any.
-
OK. On my 90, there's no blank space there for it; it has the Nissan alarm switch there instead.
-
Out of curiosity, where was the stock foglight switch on the 90 SE?

The original poster was saying that he wanted to put dual TBIs on, not just dual throttlebodies on an MPI system. Thing is, the Z31 guys have already been over this. Without a turbo, even with the PF intake, the VG30E (note - NOT the twin-cam DE that you had in your Z32) is limited by the air it can take in, which in turn is limited by the small cylinders, ports, and valve areas. Dual TBIs or just dual TBs is not going to help. One of the NA guys over there at Z31.com put on the PF intake, giant throttlebody, and bored everything that he thought was restrictive out - and he only got 10hp for his troubles. Unless you have a blower or turbo, the VG30E just doesn't flow air that well. And that's the true restriction. Going to two, three, four, five or even six TBI units isn't going to help. The VG30DE is another matter entirely, but we didn't get those engines in our trucks. Finally, even if you do stick them on there, you are NOT going to have the precise per-cylinder fuelling control you need to get the most power out of the engine. You're going to have some cylinders running lean, some running rich, etc., etc. That's not good for emissions OR power. Just convert to MPFI already.

Unfortunately, the guys with the Vettes and Camaros that got stuck with these have been modifying and completely rebuilding the system. I say unfortunately, because people have thrown thousands of dollars at it to get it to work better, and then discovered that just changing to a port fuel injection system would yield still more power. One guy went to the trouble of fitting two Edelbrock BBC-intended TBI units to his and ran it with a MegaSquirt. Eventually he decided to go to a port setup so he could do a blower, but did some dyno runs after converting and before installing the blower. 35 horsepower difference in favor of port injection. Put it to you this way - GM couldn't make it work properly, so they tried to get Bosch (who designed the Nissan port fuel injection system) to fix it for them as part of the deal under which GM would license L/LH-Jetronic from Bosch. *Bosch* couldn't make it work, and they invented modern fuel injection and engine management. I think just just needs to be tossed in the "failed ideas" hole.

The OEM headlights are terrible... I cant see $hi#
GhostPath replied to BLouisGod's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Nissan did an excellent job of designing the headlight lens to standards. To the screwed up, no good NHTSA/DOT standards which were in place at the time, that is. None of those composite lights of that era are worth anything because the DOT mandated fluting diffuses so much of the beam. I'm buying a set of those lights for my truck as soon as other necessities are taken care of on the rig. -
It had dual TBs, but was not TBI. It had six injectors, one per cylinder, mounted facing each intake port. The reason it had dual TBs was because it was a V6 engine with twin turbos and trying to route the intake otherwise would have been a nightmare in that engine bay..

No. GM tried this and it was a miserable failure. There were multiple problems with it - not least of which being that it actually produces *less* power than a properly tuned port injection system. In addition, it costs more, has more parts to break, and it *still* has the uneven fuel distribution issue that only port or individual-cylinder fuelling can solve. Far, far cheaper and easier for you to convert your truck to the later port fuel injection system. Carbs suck, TBI sucks only slightly less. FYI, GM's take on this was called the "Cross-Fire Injection System" and it was foisted off on buyers of Camaros and Corvettes in the 1980s. Worst. Injection. System. Idea. Ever.

On the automatics, the insulator (which is the part that is probably damaged) is part number 74965-80G00

Got One! Stupid alarm almost got me arrested. LOL.
GhostPath replied to feloniousmonk's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
It should have keyless entry if it has the alarm. Look under the driver's seat (you'll have to remove it, four bolts) and lift the carpet underneath. You should find a larger silver box and a smaller black one. If you have the smaller black box, you *do* have the remote keyless entry. Just so happens I have a remote for that system for sale, too. -

A year model would probably be helpful. I have a 93 owner's manual I'd like to sell. -
Yup, I was looking at one of those in the junkyard the other day and noticing that it really was a Pathfinder console and seats in the thing.
-
I've got a line on a factory light bar. I've just been told that it may not fit my 4 door. If it doesn't, what would you give for it? It comes with all four factory lights, Nissan covers, and wiring.
-
The black box under the seat about the size of a pack of cigarettes should be your remote keyless entry unit. Look on the center console next to the emergency/hand brake, there should be a three position switch there.
-
Probably - especially if you have the "alarm" switch on your dashboard or center console. I have a remote in the Parts For Sale section.

The ES1000 is crap. Nobody buys it. Put it to you this way. The ES3000s are dirt cheap and are considered acceptable. The ES1000's are half the price or less.. You get what you pay for...

Also, you need to stop looking in LA and look down in Orange County, which is still close to you: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/car/439109031.html http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/car/430107715.html http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/car/423897557.html http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/car/423359042.html

If you want a really low mileage example, this popped up locally recently: http://dallas.craigslist.org/car/424232756.html 1993 Pathfinder with a real *18K* on the clock!!!! For more: http://dallas.craigslist.org/search/car?qu...max&addTwo= Airfare between LA and Dallas is cheap, roundtrip - and you can have DAS ship the truck back to you in LA for about $500. Best part of all - most Texas trucks have *no* rust.

You would be in error - my 1990 has the same lights as my former 93 and the 92 I picked up this week, as well as the 87 I raided at the junkyard. The part number doesn't change in FAST, either. What you may have seen was a 90 converted to use Hardbody lights, which is always possible. -
The Sachs ones I bought for my 93 had ball stud replacements for both ends and didn't need the original bracket at all. In fact, they would not have worked if they'd been attached to the bracket.
-
Sorry to dredge up an old topic, but my 1990 has the control panel lights. There's two bulbs; one for the control backlighting, one for the green lights on the sliders (I have the automatic climate control setup). The control unit: The unit removed from the dash: Lift the little flap and you will find the bases of the light bulbs. The one in back is for the panel backlighting, the one in front provides lighting for the sliders. And one of the bulbs removed:

Your 89 was probably sold initially in CA. According to the 93 manual I have, even they didn't have a CEL unless they were a Cali-market truck. Besides, even if he had one, an O2 sensor failure on a pre OBD-II vehicle won't always flip it on anyway.
-
If he has a pre-90, I don't think he even *has* a CEL.
