Exactly, i have seen this many times on the 3.0L engine. The computer looks for under or overvolt as stated already. nominial IIRC is 0.5V with +/- 0.2V allowed within paramters. As conditions change the signal fluctuates tot eh ECU up and down between 0.3V and 0.7V providing input the the ECU to trim or rich the air/fuel mixture. I have seen many that have failed where they are 'stuck' reading 0.5V constantly so the ECU registers this as ok and doesnt throw a light and keep on trucking down the road running like crap and failing emissions tests.....

I totally agree, change the temp sensor. It needs it regardless, change it first and it may clear up all your problems.

Is it at around 3-5 minutes after a cold start that it starts acting up? If so it could be when the ECU goes into closed loop which would be an O2 sensor problem which can cause it to sputter and complain.

Is the exhaust white or a visible color?

I am skeptial about the oil pump being bad. I just dont see this part going out very much at all, like never really.....expecially on a 3.0L. The only times I have ever sold one that I can recall it is because someone messed one up on their own doing some other repair, not because it failed.

When you first start the truck, look at the switches to the left of the steering wheel. Below the mirror control next to the cruise control switch is the switch for transmission power control. When you start the truck up, does the light on the switch flash about 5 times? If it is flashing that indicates an error detected in the transmission by the transmssion control module. The FSM tells you how to decode the errors. Is your fluid level correct? Check the transmission dipstick with the vehicle in park and running after a good drive so that the vehicle transmission is good and warmed up. Keep in mind that too much fluid is as bad as too little. Does it smell burn or is it black in color? Does it shift into 2 and 1 and drive just fine? However, I think though that you are looking at the release solenoid in the valve body is out or the overdrive gear in the transmission is worn out.

The one on the right side of the rail between injector 3 and 5 goes to the fuel filter. The one on the left/back rail on the fuel regulator goes to the steel fuel pipe near the right side firewall. PM me your direct email and I can send you the diagram.

Yep, dead tach on the cluster, mine did the same and I had to replace it.

We got in one of the 25th Anniversary 'Silver' edition Pathfinders today.

The more sensors computers circuit boards and wires, the easier it is to break down.....

This does sound like a front suspention component issue that needs to be checked out..... compression rods, end link, etc.

What harness are you swapping?

Where did you go wheeling at? Looks like out in East Texas somewhere. Thats the kind of wheeling I like to do! Tails out in the woods. Oneof the best times I ever had was out in an area like that, it was a trailing camping trip, made a fire, dranks a few beers, slept in the back of the pathy, and wheeled. Great times!

I took a closer look at the master parts diagram, it shows the joint you are refering too at the firewall on vehicles with out tilt steering.
