Yea, I tried the mirror on a stick but the Wrigley's gum I was using wasn't rated to -15C and the mirror fell off..... fortunately the rust has made it easy to pick the mirror up off of the ground!

Good gas mileage in town but horrible on freeway
SpecialWarr replied to RCWD21's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Yeah I am just waiting for the weather to warm a bit and my center pipe to get here from rockauto before I dig in and take care of the sensor and exhaust. In the mean time glug glug glug as I drive to work and back. -
That is usually when I get myself into a small bit of trouble. I have a 'i-can-do-that-on-a-bike' thought and figure that I should be able handle it. Winch on the back.... yep...good idea!

Probably close to 19l /100km.... 'cause mine died and that's about what I am getting. -
That is some good thinking kdj!

A knocking sound could be a drive-shaft / center bearing issue since they also rotate.

One of the members here also repaired his by changing all of the bushings in the rear suspension after no luck with the front ones. I think he mentioned that the Panhard rod appeared to be the main culprit in his case. I would suggest you do all of the bushings at the same time. Assuming the truck isn't a daily driver like mine.

I finally installed my new seat belts. We finally had a warmish day so I trucked over to Canadian Tire picked up a couple of exhaust bits and then pulled the old belts off. CO_pathfinder: sorry to hear about your break-in. The last time it happened to me they succeeded in leaving with the whole stereo system, wrecked the front door lock and broke the rear window.... but it was a ****** car with nothing in it of value. What kind of snowboard boots (size?) did you loose? I may have something floating around the shop for you.

I thought they did that to get out of the way of the buses that take up the far right-hand lane.... like Montrealers!

Lerch: I love your bumper man.... that's exactly what I am after.

Still -18C with blowing snow and windchill down to -30C... just like every day for the last 6 weeks.

I've set one up for the cottage to trickle charge the house alarm battery and the tractor battery.... does that count?

If you have an operable motor and guy who can swap it for cheap I would go down that route. Then you have whatever time you'll need to fix / upgrade the other motor..... and that's my two centavos! !

Sorry, do you mean that the engine mis-fires under load? -
... and then there were Five... again.

Cool, thanks gentlemen! I'll take a run at that this week when I get a chance to bring the truck inside to work on it and let everyone know what the problem was. -
So I think I'm back to five operating cylinders again. I had a moment after getting off of the highway just before pulling into the parking lot when things went strange. The idle was bouncing around from 1500 to 1800 and back a dozen times while on the brakes up to the corner. No drop in RPMs when I pulled into the parking lot but the motor sounded good. Then I went out to get lunch a few hours later and the idle sounded like crap and I could hear backfiring like mad.... it didn't sound like one consistent cylinder though. ( I assume that you can hear one cylinder by itself.... sounds like drum beat yes?? So a lack of one would sound like one missing somewhere, right? or am I crazy? jumping to conclusions? May I mine the collective for some more info on how to identify a single cylinder misfire, because the YouTube videos have no sound quality that can let me hear anything other than a motor running. Thanks people!

Did you try to turn the crank with the plugs out or in? Did you leave it sitting there for a while or was this "water crossing" very recently?

We have a nice and toasty -18C this morning. Almost T-shirt weather!

I warmed my 02 sensor with a propane torch after giving it a shot of PB Blaster and then smacked a pin punch on one of the flats with a hammer. More PB Blaster and then it unscrewed itself with a bit of elbow grease. -
I'm not sure if it's possible but could it be that the vacuum fitting in the gas cap is clogged with gunk? I replaced mine when I bought it ( along with most of the rest of the motor accessories over the last 2 years). But I:m just throwing that out there as a cheap fix!

89 pathfinder troubles starting
SpecialWarr replied to darkstar506's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
That kinda sounds like the MAF is pegged high or unplugged or something like that.
