“The more I know about people, the better I like my dog.” – Mark Twain

Mine definitely works off road, I've come down some loose dirt/gravel areas & I've felt the pedal pumping. Never tried it on asphalt though.
The brakes have never been great on the R50, but the ABS should work. Here's an article that might help.... http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-to/maintenance/2265091

Nice. Very nice (you can't make out the primed door though)
The primed door proves "it ain't pretty, it's a workhorse".

I know you can't shift on the fly anymore with the manual hubs installed, so does that mean you will just have to go into neutral, throw it in 4wd and go?
I call it "thinking ahead". When I hit the dirt I engage the hubs (usually airing down at the same time). Only once did I not lock the hubs, it was an easy dirt track so I figured I won't need 4 wheel drive, but on a hilly section I hit a patch of ice & lost traction. I had to get out, fall over several times on the ice, lock the hubs, fall over again, get back in the car & engage 4wd, got off the ice no prob

Everyone knows my opinion on fender flares
Nice looking rig!

Thanks bro, I'll be needing more primer soon no doubt

I'm curious, what causes the "butt clenching" in the Pathy? Do my door dings scare you more than they rightly should?

Sorry to see ya go!!
Good luck & maybe we'll see ya again sometime in the future

Damn, I forgot to mention that rebelord has the best water proof solution. That screen is a great idea!

How does one decide weather or not to run a pre-cleaner like New4x4r? Any of you with the "typical" snorkle top worry about water getting in there and soaking the stock filter when it's raining?
Very curious.
In So Cal I don't have to worry too much about rain
Also, it's not my daily ride so I don't really drive it much when we do get some wet stuff.
I made a pre-filter from a pond filter that I cut up, it keeps all the larger particles out & would probably stop a lot of rain from getting into the snork. You can angle the head of the snork down at an angle which will also help stop rain getting in, plus the Safari "scoop" such as mine has outlets at the bottom of the head unit to allow water to drain. That's about all I can think of to stop rain getting in aside from the pre-cleaner that new4x4r has, that's the best way to keep rain out.

good enuff for devionwalk........Total custom look bro!! good enuff for me! im gonna put thr flares on.... for now
DVW was the inspiration for removing my flares, makes it a little less "mall cruzer" I think.
@DVW, just tell people they're "drain holes" for when the fender gets full of water.

LEDs draw next to no current. You may have blown a fuse if you installed the LED bulb backwards since they are polarized.
Very true, I was going to toss my led's as I thought they didn't work, then I switched them around & yea there was light!

Not a hit against any of you guys lol it's just c'mon look at his rig and the places he goes
Thanks for the R50 loyalty S!!
I'm just lucky that I have some cool places to go. I like Dareks uphill shot a lot, but they're all good photos of nice, clean rigs (except my "workhorse"!

Just to confirm this is actually a 1.5W solar panel?
To put this in perspective my cellphone has a 5W charger and won't even register a charging status if I plug it into a old-school 2.5W USB1.1 port.
An entire 12 hours of sunlight (assuming direct sun and 100% generation for the entire time) would only produce 1.3 amp hours.. You'd have to leave your truck parked for many weeks before that would become a problem. As for damaging the solar panel when running the truck? Unlikely. If the battery doesn't blow it up, neither will the extra 2V produced by the alternator.
I'd just hook it up straight to the battery and forget about it.
I was thinking about just connecting it straight to the battery, I mean it's only 1.5w, but nefarious my have a point.....
And no I would not hook up the 1.5W source directly to the battery. Leave it in a blazing sun for too long and you will have a definite cooked battery. If you lived in the north where I do, you might get away with it for a while. In the south; the desert... no. Use a trickle charger circuit. It is very simple and inexpensive. It may cost a whopping 7$ if you splurge.
Hell, I will put one together myself for a few bucks if you want just make sure to protect your battery. They are a lot more expensive than a simple circuit.... Keep in mind a 1.5W rating on a solar panel is an average. It is based on a normal day. If you are in a brutally (by my standards) hot place in the south you will definitely be generating a lot more than 1.5W. Food for thought.
Doesn't it come with some simple overcharging protection, the other (and best) way in my book is to wire it up with a switch so you can shut it down any time you like...
B
I don't know if it has an overcharging protector, with Harbor Freight you're lucky to get a box.
I bought a $12 solar controller that prevents overcharging & doesn't let the current flow back to the solar panel so I guess I'll just stick that on to be on the safe side.

Hahahah oh boy, time to go to the local napa, the hamster over heated and blew a gasket

My thoughts, wtf are they looking at under the hood?
Probably trying to see if the hamster is still alive so they can start it

Those are some very impressive pics Lewis! I am not that familiar with your "neck of the woods" but, it looks like a mudders paradise! Welcome to NPORA. Thank you for the intro as well!
Wales is even wetter than where I'm from in England!
Welcome to the forum! What part of Wales are you from? I'm very familiar with the area around Builth Wells, Breacon, etc.

Thanks, I'm pleased with the way they turned out, much better than my ghetto marine vents that were on before.
I thought about a scoop, but I needed hot air to get out more than ambient air coming in. My electric fans push around 3500cfm & all that air needs an outlet
I am stuck replacing front brakes

You could put the caliper/pads back on & apply the brakes, or maybe lower it gently onto a block of wood just enough to stop the rotor from spinning
I can't remember how I did mine.
