  1. I just wish I could find a old 60's Patrol that isn't a pile of rust or insanely expensive
  2. Trucks are normally expensive because they are trucks. Lots of people with big gas guzzling trucks looking to move down to a little 4 cylinder but keep the utility. As for being careful putting your Xmas tree in the back and such, why wouldn't you just plop it on the roof if you had a Pathy?
  3. I need to move up that way. I always liked the area and you guys seem to have all the fun!
  4. I'm not a huge fan of new aftermarket lights, so I just went to my local pick n pull and found the best OEM light I could.
  5. Thats pretty cool. I have this god awful whistle that goes up and down with RPM's. If you barely move the throttle cable while under the hood, it gets more high pitched. Its not a belt or the alternator. It sorta sounds electrical, if that makes any sense. For some reason I think its the TPS, but even with a stethoscope I just cant pinpoint it. The girl I bought it from said its always sounded like that, and they changed the timing belt so I dont think its that either. If goes away every now and then, but usually not for long.
  6. Just run a water seperator after your compressor. I used to have airbags on my 2WD Hardbody, the valves gumming up with water sucked until I did that. Never had a moisture problem after that.
  7. I did my front brakes and replaced the calipers a couple months ago, I had to bleed them in the correct order with my ABS module unplugged to finally get the light to go off. The correct procedure is in the FSM.
  8. There is a 90's style 4-Runner in my local pick n pull that has the same done. Whoever did it knew how to fab and its a shame it was in the junkyard.
  9. I'm assuming by your avatar you like to fish. We have great fishing here (river or lake) so take a "vacation" and get a windshield installed while you are here!
  10. Thats because our dealers dont even charge $95/hour, let alone private shops.
  11. That wouldn't fly around here. Most shops not only make a decent amount by marking up parts, they will not warranty any part they do not sell.
  12. Wow. My local shops have them for 120-170, installed.
  13. :Raises Hand: That was probably me he is thinking about. I had (still have? That putty seems to be holding up for now) a thread about it not long ago.
  14. It goes in the center console. I have all options but heated seats, and the two blank plates in the center console are where the switches would be.
  15. I think those places mainly exist for people who have no mechanical skills, no time, or no desire to do their own. Just because oil changes seem simple to you, doesn't mean everybody can do it. Like cooking seems simple to many, others can burn cereal.
  16. First of all, depending on price they are charging at your junkyard, you might be suprised how much a new one is. I think I paid like 90 bucks for a new one. Its pretty simple to pull one. Its obviously most likely drained, so just take off the upper and lower hose first. Second, the fan shroud is two pieces. The bottom clips into the main part. For me it was easier to just upclip the bottom and take it out underneath, then there are 4 bolts/screws holding the main part on. Take those off, then slide the shroud out the top. From there the radiator just sits in little mounts on the bottom so just pull up. I would be hesitant to get a radiator junkyard, most of them are probably OEM and not far behind going out like your current radiator.
  17. I clicked on a picture, and it says its gray. I always wanted to call it charcoal. Link
  18. It should at least be top 4 or top 6. I'm not meaning multiple week playoff. Some of these teams getting into the BCS bowls is ridiculous. Alabama didn't even play in their own conference championship game, they basically had the easy road. I hope if LSU loses in basically a replay of their last game that people still vote LSU number 1, because they beat Bama in their house.
  19. I keep getting the knock sensor code on my 94. It runs fine, it has a little miss when started on these cold mornings but it goes away quickly. I know when I had it smogged my timing was at 13 degrees, but mine doesn't feel nearly as sluggish as what you are describing. Im hesitant to replace the knock sensor because it seems about everything can set it off.
  20. I had seen that in a thread when I searched. I'm gonna pull it out again this weekend, make 100% sure it works by hand (I was working solo when I put it in) and then see if my buddy will let me use his welder to do the same thing you did.
