  1. Idling killed your tranny? I do a lot of tailgating in my Pathy and let it idle for long periods while charging the battery in between watching other football games on the satellite. Thanks for putting something catastrophic in the back of my mind!
  2. $2500 seems like a fair price for something that has had the major work recently done. Try to talk the owner down a little bit and see what you can get it for? Rust would be my only concern since you are in a "salt" state.
  3. I just ditched my OEM mats last year and went with some Goodyear rubber mats. I had to do some minor trimming but, I'm happy as could be with them. They hold a lot of water/mud and are easy to hose off after a weekend of wheeling.
  4. Yeah, I'm in that club. I thought my cylinder was going bad so I had to have mine towed a year or two after I bought mine (used). It turned out that after the dealership pulled my old ignition out the technician discovered a burned out aftermarket alarm brain that the PO had installed. I just use my FOB for locking/unlocking the doors. That really sucks!
  5. For me it was a simple as using a 10mm socket wrench. I removed my factory "meep-meep" horns and simply remounted te GM horns using the factory brackets. The only "mod" was connecting the ground wire to the chassis at the bracket mount point.
  6. Make sure the tow truck driver places the rear wheels on dollies so you don't burn up your transmission.
  7. Auto tranny? I'd start by checking the fluid. Also, does it lose propulsion in all of the gears (including reverse)?
  8. You can check the bearing by jacking up the front and, placing your hands on the top and bottom of the tire, shake the wheel. It should not move at all.
  9. +1 It does look like it's going to "eat" anything in it's path.
  10. Ahhh .. I hear you. I'll still keep my eyes peeled.
  11. They just crushed the only R50 at the Upull-it in Rock Hill. I was trying to get you down there weeks ago bud! I'll keep my eye out if they get another.
  12. That can be easily repaired after trail damage ...
  13. I digress. I picked the "steelies" because 1) they were cheap and, 2) they can be repaired if they get abused on the trails. There are places around me that repair bent rims. You can not repair busted Alloys.
  14. Do the dash lights work? Actually, you did mention that you checked all of the fuses.
  15. Removed and repaired the ABS sensor wire that broke in half when my front sway bar end link came loose wheeling last weekend.
  16. I'm talking about the rubber strips that physically fit in between the spring and the surface (cups) themselves on the strut. Also, make sure the spring is seated properly on the strut. The end of the coil on the bottom spring perch has an obvious indentation where it is supposed to seat. I just thought of something, is the sound coming from just one side or both?
  17. Are you speaking of removing the inner plastics? That is all that is removable on our R50's.
  18. Sounds like it could be the strut bearings. Watch the struts with a buddy turning your steering wheel from full lock to lock. It would be noticeable if you can physically see your strut "hesitate" when it pops during the steering wheel travel. Another thing to check would be if the rubber spring isolaters have been installed. The pop could be the steel spring twisting in between the top and bottom spring perches.
  19. Perfectly happy with my RS5000's as well. I'd consider Pro Comps from what I've read from members here and a friend that has them on his full size Bronco.
  20. I just want the head off of it and maybe a few hoses that I cut while removing hers. I'm going to take a pressure gauge with me and turn the crank by hand to see if I can muster up, oh .. what should I get by turning the crank by hand? I'm guessing maybe 25-30 psi? Plus, I'm going to scrap my old head and the "new" engine block. That should be a wash for $100.
  21. Nunya's just being an ass. My wife is driving the Miata while I have the head off of her engine because her dang timing belt slipped. Found a complete engine for $100 because the guy put a Vtec in his and dosent want it. Go figure?
