  1. +1 (or x2 if you will) on what these guys said. Push and hold the shifter to the floor while pulling the handle towards you while the tranny is in neutral.
  2. I need a garage, I'm tired of this shade tree!

  3. I detected a "10" on the "sarcaso-meter". It's all good man!
  4. Someone once told me that the general "rule of thumb" when it comes to flat towing a 4x4 is that, "If it has a tranny cooler ... don't flat tow it."
  5. Any OBDII will work. I picked up a cheap one from Autozone for $40-$50 that pretty much just reads the code and has the ability to erase them.
  6. No problem. I found it easier to remove the three nuts first. It isn't that hard to do.
  7. You can remove the LCA with out touching the axle by removing the three (12mm I think?) bolts that connect the ball joint to the control arm. I bent the @!*% out of mine and had to go to the local jy to replace it. The bent arm is on the left in this pic.
  8. Whoa! $1300 bucks for steering? Hey, I need to eventually replace my steering rack. Maybe I can help you offset that Hydro cost a little? Rockauto wants close to $300 for a reman w/o a core charge. Think about it.
  9. *don't forget to purchase factory OEM strut mounts and bearings. The aftermarkets have a bad rep as well.
  10. Skid strip? Can you post a pic of what you are looking for?
  11. If it was just some left over gunk make sure to inspect and wipe off the new gasket. You should be fine.
  12. I used a 3M Scotchbrite pad to lightly scrub mine. I then used a shot of break cleaner on a clean rag to remove any residue that was left.
  13. Are you certain that the top of the head was clean?
  14. ... and to add to that comment, I don't see the sway bar end link in kefferjoe's pic.
  15. Wish I could help answer your questions about the transfer case and auto shifting. My only relative experience that you had is that I have not experienced any up shift at all from my auto tranny while riding in 4-Lo. Then again, I'm always crawling slowly on rocks with mine in that mode. I remember reading your post about your aluminium radiator upgrade last year but, I can't recall if you installed an aftermarket transmission cooler? If you are still running the cooler lines through your radiator, your tranny will be basically the same temp as the engine coolant. I know this dose not help you much, sorry.
  16. I'm about to get dizzy scrolling my screen up and down looking at the pics (Nice job BTW Tad). It appears from the three photos that your LCA is fine.
  17. Lifting the back will only level the ride height. The angle shouldn't change on the front axel. Is there any way for you to post a couple of pics?
  18. I have changed mine twice (albeit, the second time was trouble shooting a bad timing belt) and I've 170,xxx miles. It wouldn't hurt to change them. Its better to do preventative maintenance now than to wait for a problem to arise.
  19. Awesome! I'm glad you got a great deal. Welcome back? (you were here long before I me!)
