  1. For a disc conversion, you'd need donor axles themselves COMPLETE with brakes still on them, the hard brake line off the donor rear axle, and a new master cylinder. Axles are different, backing plates, brake mounts and hardlines are all different. Then, you'd have to take the centersection out of your open rear diff, take the case apart, remove a thrust block inside the case, reassemble it all, and put it all together. If your existing diff is a LSD, that step can be bypassed. Or, just use a whole complete axle off an SE.
  2. Moving backward and then braking doesn't adjust the rear drum brakes, using the e-brake does(AFAIK, from doing my rear brakes three times). When you pull on the e-brake, a pivoting arm inside the brakes pushes against the adjuster wheel and if at all possible, turns the adjuster one notch at a time if the pads will allow for it. Sounds to me more like your e-brake cable is broken, or one of the mounts has broken off, been unbolted or something like that. Major brake shops usually do a brake check for you free of charge. It may also be that your drums and/or pads are shot and need replacing. Can't say from over here, it's a bit blurry.
  3. Ideally, the red wire should be connected to one of the dimmer-switch controlled 12vDC+ wires for the dash lights, so it goes with the rest of the lights. Realistically, you can hook it up to any 12vDC+ source you want. The black wire is the ground, of course. No idea on how mounting should go, it appears to me that they screw to the dash in JDM stock form, but I've never experienced an install of anything like this. I'd say try doublesided sticky 3M foam tape and see if it'll sit flat against the dash that way.
  4. Still at $2.18 per gallon for 87 octane. This sucks.
  5. Hers does? I thought it was a manual. Well, she also has 31's and I have 33's...
  6. Upgrade to Windows Media Player 9. Unless you're on a Mac or something.
  7. Did the 2WD Pathfinders have 2-piece driveshafts, Cuong? My apologies if I was wrong, but I've never seen a 2WD model in person. They're pretty rare.
  8. Same tires I've got. Remember I made that video to show how loud they are?
  9. The auto also sucks some of the life out of the motor...stealing horsepower is another thing older auto trannies do. We had Pathfinder races at Sand Lake last time we went and I lost every time! I had the only auto-equipped Pathy there...
  10. Yep. I'd rather have a manual but I don't want to convert it all over at this point. Sometimes it's good to just be able to point and step on the gas, though. Know what I mean?
  11. Like so: Keeps the idler arm pivot shaft from tweaking and the arm itself from moving excessively.
  12. That's what I did to the old one, and look how it turned out after a year's worth of outdoor exposure.
  13. Beefier idler arm brace. This one's REAL sturdy compared to my old POS I had a friend weld up, he even managed to weld it together crooked, the bastid. I used it anyway, but it was grating on my brain to have it on there. MY work is straight and clean! (except for the booger welds) That's what the grinder is for though, right? I made this one out of an old utility pole crossarm brace, which happens to be made out of 1/4" angle steel. Any opinions on what color I should paint it? I'm thinking white, cause the body's white, the front skidplate's white...etc.
  14. No, there's only one. Shush, Chromotech. You're misleading people here.
  15. Yes, it's basically inside the radiator. Almost all stock radiators are like that. Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Dodge...
  16. No idea. People don't normally rebuild their own automatic transmissions. It's the single most complicated part in the whole vehicle.
  17. Hahaha You buy the plane tickets, I'll fly on over with pliers and flashlight in hand! Changing that water pump out isn't all that bad. You can do it in a day if you just directly remove and replace stuff. But me, I like to clean everything off, replace hose clamps, ziptie wiring back together, etc, etc, etc...ended up taking me all weekend to do all my stuff.
  18. Wow, that's news to me. I can't assert or refute it.
  19. No Pathfinder ever came with a 2-piece rear driveshaft. That was only on the HB pickups. A Performance Accessories body lift from AC will work on your Pathfinder, they found someplace to get the proper bolts for the rear body mounts which are really hard to find, I understand. They just sell you a standard body lift kit PLUS the needed bolts as a package. Also, the body lift DOES fit an auto-transmission equipped Pathfinder. The tranny is shifted via cable and it has more than enough length to allow for the 3" body lift. There are numerous suspension lift kits available. AC, Superlift, Rancho, Trailmaster and Calmini all make suspension lifts for Pathfinders. The Trailmaster suspension lift is a true drop-bracket 4" lift kit while all the other lift kits simply replace the upper control arms and then crank up the torsion bars to get more lift out of the front, with longer coil springs in the back. If you wanted to install the Trailmaster kit, you would have to cut down your inner tie rods and use outer tie rods from a 92 or earlier Pathfinder instead, because they changed outer tie rod size after 93. Good enough?
  20. LOL Sweet! You're on your way to Pathfinder fame and fortune now.
  21. No idea on the junkyard thing. I'm just really lucky to be able to live near one that lets you pull your own parts unsupervised, doesn't much care about pricing and doesn't completely eyeball every vehicle before putting them out on the lot. That's how most of the good parts have fallen into my grubby mitts.
  22. The steering components are supposedly lubed for life, heh. Tons of import cars are like that. Have you tried rotating your tires as well? f it still does it after a tire rotation, something's sure worn out in your front end.
  23. No, Pathfinders do not have factory lockers. They have at most a LSD. The ones most likely to be equipped with the LSD were the offroad package equipped ones. If you have a rear tire carrier, step bars, fog lights and 31" tires, then you have the offroad package which supposedly includes the LSD rear axle. There have been numerous posts on how to tell if you have an LSD rear diff or not, look through the posts to find one.
  24. Like I said over AIM, Rami...crossmember to frame bolts.
