Sometimes brand-new brakes will get too hot and smell like that, but if they were JUST replaced, they could be just bedding in and not have anything wrong with them. Or the e-brake adjuster could need some touching-up. There is a small drum brake inside the rear discs that makes up your e-brakes.

I think the secondary fuel gauge was a rare option on the SE's in 87 and early 88. Kinda like an initial-release model year specialty item.

Final facts: 90-95 H233B axles should have the 11-stud housing (pre-90 had 9 bolts). The 87-95 Pathfinder and 86.5-97 Hardbody (plus the 99 and early 00 Frontier excluding crew cab) were all 31-spline. The 96-04 Pathfinder, 00-04 Xterra, and 00-04 Frontier (with the above exception) are all 33-spline and not compatible with the older 31-spline diffs. There's the issue of the ABS sensor on the third of the so-equipped Pathfinder/Hardbody and the 2WD Frontier Xterra. 4WD Frontier/Xterra don't have a sensor on the third. Shouldn't really be an issue unless you're concerned about keeping ABS.

That or the low-level sensor wiring's loose.

The hole pattern is 6 on 5.5. Anywhere from 3"-4" BS works well. For 33 x 12.5" tires, the minimum width for wheels are 8".

Yeah, gas tanks are way different, along with the leaf spring/coil spring thing.

Do it yourself if at all possible and save $75. All it takes is removing front tires, unbolting UCA spindle and balljoint, then reinstalling them and cranking up the t-bars a bit. However, if you need longer UCA spindle bolts be prepared to order them from the 'net, cause 14mm x 1.5 x 60 or 70mm bolts are HARD TO FIND. (stock size is 14 x 1.5 x 50) They're about $4 each, and you'll need four of them. Try to get Grade 8.8 or 10.8 at least.

NPORA forum members with more than 500 posts can now choose their own custom title! -BUT- If it's inappropriate or admin doesn't approve, remember: that right may be revoked. Accessing that option is in your user control avatar/title settings if you have 500+ posts. Standard issue rank titles are as follows: Turned on the user warning level indicator system. If you recieve a warning from a moderator or administrator for misbehaving, your level will go up by one bar and 20%. Three warnings and you get a little vacation from the forums. Sounds like your t-case position indicator switch (or it's wiring) shorted out on you or was otherwise damaged. The transfer case operation is entirely mechanical except for the indicator light switch.

Well, only if you LIKE doing it yourself. That kit actually has all the stuff you need with none of the mess and guesswork. It's about the right price, all things considered. I just added up all the stuff you'd have to buy to do it yourself and it's about the same.

Yeah, they're tough sumbitches to get off. Even more fun to put back on. Watch for that later. I suggest more PB Blaster or WD-40 and time. They DO come off, but evidently yours don't want to.

Hmmmm. Carrying anything inside on that side? Can you measure to see how much of a height difference you're getting? Coil springs do sag over time and new coils will settle in, but not by THAT much.

They're heavy, but you can put it on a pallet, wrap it in Saran Warp and tag it, then a motor carrier can ship it for pretty cheap. It's just a PITA to transport it both to and from the trucking company.

The simple answer would be to drill another hole in the hitch itself so the rack slides in far enough to fit properly. I can't vouch for the hitch's towing capacity after that if the holes are too close together, but it should still be good for towing stuff that the Pathy can tow in the first place.

I had my Pathy packed to capacity to go to work in Cali once...gas can and cooler on the roof, inside packed full of all my tools and clothes and stuff...went through a weigh station, it was at about 5100 lbs. Last time I went camping with me and the GF in the Pathy and all our stuff(including offroading crap) it weighed 5150 lbs.

A stripped input shaft would probably make some nasty noises. Same for a broken input shaft, but I've never actually had that happen to me before.
