  1. Popped a fuse, check the panel under the dash.
  2. Technically speaking, torsion bars should not move. They should twist, but not in any other way move. Check your rear swaybar endlinks if you still have it on. Check your shock mounting points and the panhard rod link ends. That's a basic starter list...
  3. You can still spin the engine over with an auto in gear. It just spins the torque converter and lets the engine move freely. Try it sometime.
  4. Nono, B. It's the upload speed, remember? YOU are on the download end of that info interchange. *waits for download* I got....56K/s, about. Heh, it does sound like a diesel! A three-cylinder diesel.
  5. What you're hearing is the clutch spinning the input shaft and gears inside the transmission. When it's not in gear, it spins freely inside. A slight noise is perfectly normal.
  6. Spark plug boots aren't glued to begin with. They're just a tight fit. Use a little WD-40 or spray lubricant and they'll slide all over for you.
  7. I wouldn't rule out the starter. It may be just weak enough to not fully engauge the solenoid. Do an amp draw test on the battery and make sure it's still OK, too.
  8. A rear tire carrier weighs 55 lbs. I just weighed mine. Just so you know.
  9. Um, it's unplugged when you test it, if that helps.
  10. Can you crank it over by hand with a ratchet on the crank bolt?
  11. You can try removing all the belts BUT the PS belt, then run it for a short time. If it still squeaks or whatever, you may have found your culprit.
  12. Also tell your son: "DO NOT attempt to drive around in 4WD on dry paved roads or areas." It can cause drivetrain bind and ruin the transfer case or other parts.
  13. He has an automatic. I seem to remember that if you stick a breaker bar and socket on the crank bolt, brace it against a crossmember below so it doesn't spin and then CAREFULLY bump the starter, it'll crack that puppy loose in short order.
  14. Mine had something about that in the glove box, IIRC...
  15. 'Cos not everybody has a garage and a big tool chest and the time to do stuff themselves. It's simple economics...if it costs more than it's worth to fix, it doesn't make much sense to keep it. If you keep driving it until it goes out on you completely. you're screwed again in a different way.
  16. Yup. You gotta take REAL good care of a Nissan automatic, or it'll crap out on you one day out of the blue, like mine did.
  17. Sounds like a timing problem. Is your MAF sensor still unplugged?
  18. They're not sensors, they're small solenoids that change the damping rate of the shocks. If you're replacing them with anything BUT Nissan stock shocks, then simply unplug them and tape the ends up. Nothing will happen otherwise. Oh, and I don't think Nissan has ever used air shocks on Pathfinders, regardless of trim level. Pep Boys is NOT a good place to go for any kind of qualified advice or service on your vehicle, haven't you heard some of the horror stories about that place?
  19. NWORC(NorthWest Off Road Club), the club Brian and I kinda formed from Sand Lake and Brown's Camp runs with local people from around Portland and Vancouver, etc...not a real large club or anything, but we have fun. I believe Brian still has NWORC.com up from Idaho...he moved.

  21. He didn't say it was in a city. Could have been a highway. Lots of them have intersections. Man, that sucks. Sorry to see your Pathy bite the big one. You can attach pics to a post if they're not too big, the option is on the Reply page.
  22. Hey, very nice! Glad you got 'er running again.
  23. I'm just thinking there are only so many things of value you need to lock up in a Pathy, if someone breaks in they're gonna get most anything inside anyway. That's what alarms are for. My glove box locks anyway, heh.
  24. R50 coils are larger, so no, no JGC swap for R50's. REAR JGC springs are shorter than the fronts...Ford trucks have leaf springs in the rear...and the top coil on a JGC spring curls down to a 3" diameter that won't fit the seat on a Pathy, so you have to either trim the 3" bit off so it fits, or heat it up and re-shape the coil to 4".
  25. You're right, unless NISMO or Stillen makes them I doubt anyone else does. A better deal might be to upgrade to RS9000 struts and set them stiffer when you want it stiffer...
