I apologize if I sounded rude to you, I am not on here to make enemies, I AM on here everyday and I try to help out everyone if I can, I am by no means a Nissan expert nor claim to be, You are correct that it doesn't matter how many posts someone has, they could all be worthless posts. I just try to help out from my experience owning Nissan trucks for 20 something years. I honestly do not think what I wrote in my reply sounded rude, I re-read it twice, you say my reply "sounded rude" but you read it so you took it that way, once again I apologize if it made you think I was being rude. I never knew about the different color keys, the only Nissan I ever bought brand new was my 87 Hardbody and it had the small headed black plastic keys so I really have never seen a OEM grey key before. What do you mean only part of the wafers are used for the lock and part for the ignition?? I re-keyed an ignition lock I got from the junkyard last night for my Sentra and I cleaned it out real good inside the housing, I can see wear marks from what looks like someone turning the key with force as there are wear marks where the wafers contact the lock housing, but now that it is clean inside and I played around with switching wafers out for others it is lining up good and works perfectly.

I had hood pins on my hardbody for the reason you said to stop the hood from shaking but I kept the factory latch also

The only rude comment is the one you just made. Have a nice day TO reply to Qx, yes the current key works fine in the ignition, the doors are keyed different, I guess the PO before my friend owned the PF had a problem and the ignition was replaced, reason I was looking to get a brand new key was because I am re-keying the locks so they all match the ignition key and as I re-key each lock some of the wafers are not lining up 100% in the lock cylinder, there are only 4 different wafers that Nissan used in these locks so if it's not wafer # 1 thru 4 than something else is wrong, so I figured if I had a new key I would have a better chance lining the wafers up in the cylinder properly. And no the keys do not have a chip in them and I asked the dealer how much to cut a new key and was told $6.

I don't care what the key looks like or who makes it what I was trying to do is get a brand new cut key, not to have a copy made of a worn out used key.

Well scratch that idea, just called another dealer who at least asked me for my VIN number and looked it up and than told me the number doesn't come up, she explained that the original selling dealer may have not entered the code, so forget that idea, oh well.... I know about the sticker no sticker this PF no idea if glove box is even original, thanks anyway.

Just called local dealer someone explain this to me please cause I'm lost: Parts dept guy is telling me they can only look up key codes in database for 80 and newer, I tell him 94 is newer than 80 and he keeps telling me it's not, I say how do you figure, 94 came out after 80, he says no, he tells me if someone was born in 94 and someone was born in 80 who is older? I say the person born in 80 would be older he says no, WTF ??????????? AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE OR IS THIS GUY JUST AN IDIOT???????

"Look at your sight glass on the drier right behind the grill" Keep in mind you will only have the sight glass if the drier is an OEM part, aftermarket driers do not have them, (at least the few I have used on my sentra) The proper way to add refrigerant is to do so by weight, the guy I use does it by reading the pressures, I have had no problems with his work. My sentra that he worked on for me, with an aftermarket compressor, new expansion valve and drier will cool into the 30's, (temp readings were taken with a digital tester and a regular old meat type thermometer at the vent) the PF does not cool as well, it goes into the 40's but it takes a while, but on the PF all he did was charge the system and I have no clue on how old the other parts are since I haven't replaced any of them yet. I recently used coil cleaner from Home Depot to clean the condenser in my sentra and it seems to cool down faster The expansion valve if faulty,clogged or just worn out will not regulate the freon flow and you will not get cold air no matter what you do. It is possible to over pressurize the AC system and more is not better, once you add too much freon the system will not cool as well as if the proper amount is added.

No problem, yes that is correct, this applies to the ignition in my Sentra only as I didn't try this on the pathfinder ignition, I drilled a small hole next to the brass pin than using a scribe was able to pry out the brass pins, the front face part of the lock cylinder than was able to be pulled out, the assembly than separates into a few parts, the front part with the "acc,start,run" than the rear part that engages the electrical switch on the back of the ignition switch, and the actual lock tumbler, there also is the lever that has the button you press to remove the key, and another lever that I don't know what it's purpose is for yet.

Can anyone tell me if the dealer can look up or obtain the key code for my 94 PF if I don't have the key code number? Can it be looked up by the VIN number? Nissan Tech's responses please?

Are you asking from what I mentioned about using the pump from a 300Zx? Because the 300zx pump I refereed to was for the power steering, I have read in the past that the 300zx produces more oil pressure though. Just looked on Rockauto.com for a 87 and 94 Nissan pickup oil pump,Beck Arnley part number, they list all the VG30's RWD to use the same oil pump this includes, pickups (86-94),maxima (85-94), Infiniti M30 (90-92), 300ZX (84-89), 200SX (87-88), Quest (93-95), the oil pumps listed for 4WD are just used in 4WD vehicles. of course the VG30DE uses a totally different oil pump design

never mind, I picked up an ignition from the junkyard so I wouldn't ruin mine and figured it out, had to go to a lock picking forum to get the info, thanks anyway

I had the same problem on my Sentra, one day I noticed what looked like a broken tan lifesaver on the floor, turned out it was the rubber part, had to rig something up until I got the replacements. The new Nissan ones are a greenish material, I always keep an extra one in the car as it is the same rubber part that is used for the clutch pedal that lets the car start. Always better to order a few extra and keep one in the vehicle.

The first JDM engine I bought for my 87 hardbody had a few differences between any US engine I saw. The intake manifold was different, The engine I bought had to come out of a rear wheel drive car or truck as it had a belt driven fan on it, and I looked at all the US based rear wheel drive engines and none had the intake that this engine had. The belts were ribbed belts and the 87 Hardbody had "V" groove belts. I know my mechanic back than who did the swap for me had to swap the valve covers over from the original engine. We decided not to mess with the harmonic balancer on the JDM engine ( that was the problem on the stock engine twice), so I had to find a power steering pulley that I could use on my D21's pump, ended up getting one from a junkyard that was labeled from a 300ZX, had an aftermarket alternator and got that ribbed pulley from an auto electric shop. Also had to swap the oil pan. The JDM engine was spotless inside and out my mechanic was impressed when he first saw it. And after he was all done the truck felt like it ran better than new and I was running 33's at the time.

Do you want to connect the aftermarket radio to the factory amps? I would bypass them all together and just run speaker wire from the radio to the speakers.

Down here in nearby Deland Florida thieves stole 50 plus cats from new suvs at a dealer about 2 weeks ago. They had to bring in extra staff to replace them all.

Pulled the covers off the steering column before and with the ignition in the ACC position I did not see a pin that I can push in to remove the cylinder, anyone help out?? Thanks

I do what I'm asked to do, my wife says this and it's true, that I go to work to work less than when I'm home !! LOL

only 87, the few times I have run a higher octane it seems like I get worse MPG

I have one of those Stanley plastic tool boxes, the black one with the 2 little yellow compartments on the top, I honestly forgot that in the one compartment there were 6 locks, the other 7 were neatly inside a white paper towel situated so that if they asked me to lift the towels up they would come out with the towels, they accidentally were in the towels that way, miracle how they got like that !!! Thanks on the tip to remove the lock cylinder, that is all I want to remove. I don't need to remove the ignition lock cylinder in the PF as I am re-keying the doors and hatch locks to match the ignition key. But if I do my sentra I will need to re-key the ignition lock. Will have to take the covers off to see if I can see the pin that needs to be pushed in, thanks for the reply I haven't been able to find any info on this online in the last 2 days of looking.

put 10 gallons in it and drove 61 miles to junkyard and back and watched the fuel gauge go from just over half to just over the quarter mark !! As I posted in the re-keying thread, picked up 15 locks from 3 different pathfinders and a few Sentra's for my re-keying project, have the 2 door locks re-keyed just have to get new chrome outer covers than swap them in. Next project will be removing the gallon's worth of love bugs that are plastered all over the front of the PF!

My current project which is pushing everything else back to on hold is fixing and remodeling a mobile home for my daughter. She and her family are moving down here to Florida this Saturday coming up, they are in North Carolina. She had a choice between a brand new model that has been sitting un occupied for 3 years or an older mobile home that was slightly larger but $10K cheaper, after seeing how the back yard was on the model how it sloped and all the rain water and sand was going under the trailer she (and my wife) decided she would be better off buying the older trailer so she did. This will be her first home as a owner. So over the last 2 weekends I have been Mr. handy man, doing electrical, plumbing, painting, repairing flooring, installing a mailbox, etc. etc. Hopefully after we help them unpack on Saturday I can go back to my other auto related projects and hopefully can get my re-keying of the pathfinder and xterra roof rack install done. Sorry no pics at this time.
