  1. Thanks James, no problem on waiting for the pics, I'll look into how you did yours on mine later, appreciate it. looks like the same color I painted the valve cover in my sentra
  2. that's how I did the glove box lock, except you don't have to take the casing apart, just remove it from the plastic latch. In the glove box lock there is room for I believe it was 8 wafers but they only use four, there were four wafers in the first 4 slots, I ended up skipping one slot as I didn't have the right wafer to fit the key so I moved the one wafer further back until my key would fit. A locksmith can also make a key for a lock that you bring into them, that's what I did on my 94 PF, the original owner changed the ignition cylinder for what ever reason and my buddy I bought the PF from only had the ignition key, so I pulled the pass. side door lock and the local locksmith made a key to fit it, than I spent about an hour cleaning the drivers side lock out until the new key would turn in it, same with the one on the rear hatch, they both were loaded with dirt and grease. Good site, now I know how the door cylinders come apart, kinda figured that was how they did already.
  3. May have to use something else just in that one location
  4. I just got done re-keying the glove box lock I picked up at junkyard Yesterday, just pulled all the wafers out and put one in at a time until my key when inserted would allow the wafers to sit flush with the lock housing. To prove it worked (besides my key being able to turn it) I put the original key back in and it won't open it. The door lock cylinders can probably be done as long as you can get the wafers out with out destroying the lock casing. I know on my sentra's trunk lock it appears to get the wafers out you would have to cut away a piece of the lock casing. Oh, I'm not a lock smith I am just good at looking at things and being able to figure out how they work, I also like picking locks for fun!!
  5. take your time, I'll be here for a looooong time being a PITA !!! LOL (or until I get rid of the PF)
  6. No, it's fine, thanks for picking it up for me. On another note, just finished re-keying the new glove box lock to fit my ignition key ! Success, LOL !! Swap the new latch/lock in tomorrow.
  7. You'll find one, I think the middle leg will work out good the way I have it, as none of the mount now hangs over the edge, of course with no sun roof this isn't a problem but the way I have it there is no need to trim to clear the sunroof. Once I get the other side trimmed and install both I will take them back off to paint, most likely black to match the truck. Only concern I have right now is the front mount one of the screw holes looks like it will be sitting right on top of the channel in the roof, don't know if I will be able to install a rivnut in that area.
  8. I made a little "U" shaped clip to hold mine up, with one leg longer than the other, than I slip the longer end under the sunroof rubber and the other end over the visor to hold it up. I just got a new/used drivers side visor (thanks TownCivilian!), and although it stays up it looks like it won't for very long or when I hit a bump it starts to creep down.
  9. In the 3rd pic, I am just showing where I removed the middle mount and turned it so it will sit angled to the inside instead of out (the way it came), the rail is just sitting on the mount as I said I was only mocking up everything today. Will have to install a rivnut in the new location and was thinking if I remove the factory insert to the left in that pic, the short peice of tube may cover the old hole. The xterra was a 2000, saw it listed on the upullandpay website, the only one, and drove down to see if it still had the rack, I even asked them when I was paying to get in if the $19.99 for roof racks included the xterra rack and they said yes so it was mine !! lol It didn't have the basket or front deflector but that was ok with me.
  10. I got mine from a local JDM engine shop down here in Orlando, they actually had 2 VG30's in stock and they both were still bolted to the tranny and transfer cases, so I chose the one with the Japanese oil filter on it the other engine had an aftermarket filter I figured the one I bought had to be from japan unless someone was using JDM oil filters on their US engine. Good choice so far the engine runs perfect
  11. Thanks, let me finish the other side and paint them before I send it to you ok? Think the middle mount looks ok the way I have it sitting?
  12. Check some where else on the truck so see if the VIN number is the same as that door jamb sticker
  13. Well today I removed the factory roof rack rails, of course 2 of the screws each side came right out the other 2 had to drill the heads off no biggie, started to mock up the xterra rail. cut the front as I read on here until the middle leg would touch the roof, I see what someone had said about the middle leg's mount hanging over the edge and my neighbor made a suggestion that I want to run by you all. We were wondering how they attached the short piece of tube that goes to the main rail for the middle leg so I removed the screw and discovered how they did it, anyway we were looking at flipping the middle mount around so it angles toward the inside, would have to drill and install a new riv nut but that's not a big deal either. Turning the middle mount around allows no part of the mount to hang over the edge. I think it would still be as strong as the way the rail originally came. Took some pics, the rail is not mounted yet just mocking it up, tell me what you think. Thanks. Front view plenty of sunroof clearance: close up of rear mount: close up of middle mount: whole rail view: What do you think??
  14. any updates? I want to be an official member !! LOL Thanks
  15. today (actually yesterday), picked up an xterra roof rack for $20, replaced drivers door window switch, and a glove box latch with lock that I am in process of re-keying to fit my key. GOOD DAY YESTERDAY !!
  16. for the price of the head I would throw a JDM engine in it, I paid $600 for mine and the thing runs smooth and perfect, just an idea
  17. I also ran the VIN number in the FAST program tried under the US, JP, GL & GR sections and that VIN number will not come up, WEIRD
  18. "For reference, this is the external view of the truck." could you get any further away from the truck?? LOL
  19. I have the FSM for the 87 Pickup/pathfinder if you need anything scanned.
  20. Thanks James, yeah looks like the factory rack rails will have to come off, thanks for any pics you can provide, appreciate it.
  21. well after a run to the junkyard to check the one and only xterra they had I will join the xterra roof rack on a pathfinder club, Pretty good day today, the rack, drivers windows switch, glove box latch with the key $38, also got a rear window switch and a section of rear window molding for free. Anyone with the xterra rack who has a sunroof on a 4 door possibly take me some close up pics of the mounting brackets? Thanks
  22. You wrote you had to modify the front mounts to clear the sunroof so it will open, can the glass still be removed with the rack on the way you installed it? Did you have to modify the bottoms of the front mounts to match the contour of the PF's roof?
  23. what are the xterra OEM racks bolted to the roof with? Allen head, Phillips head bolts, something else?
