Would it possible to move the roof rack all the way forward and mount the lights on the rack instead of fabbing up a custom rack? Would it be forward enough to where the roof wouldn't cut off any of the emitted light? And according to Hella, both the 500s and 500FFs are available in driving or fog variants.

Alright, I'm a total newbie to this so please bare with me; I'd like to get some offroad lighting mounted up on the roof of my Q. I'm thinking two lamps will do for my purposes. I'd like to run them off the same switch for the factory fog lights. What kind of power limits am I looking at if I don't want to upgrade/add batteries or alternators? Also, considering those limits, does anyone have any recommendations on what make and model lamps would provide the best bang for the least buck? I'd like to go HID (with internal ballasts) if possible- to match my HID low beam lamps. Thanks!

They're 921. You have to pry off the inside of the tailgate to get to them. There may or may not be screws/tabs etc you have to remove first. I forget.
-
Yeah it's something like that, I've seen the pics too.
-
Especially since ARB no longer makes them unless they get a group buy or something.

The low-beams are D2R xenons. The high-beams (projectors) are 9005 halogens. This might help: http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide I'm not sure if it's the same for Qs made for Canada.
-
I recommend silverstars for halogen too. I had them in my last car which didn't have xenons, and they were so much better than regular halogen. Still don't hold a candle (pun ) to xenons though.
-
I'm not sure what bulb they would be, because here in the US those projectors are high-beams not DRLs. They're both still halogen though, not xenon/HID. IIRC the stock low-beam xenons are about 5100k.

Yeah definitely sound like a balancing issue. Go back and get them rebalanced.
-
Yeah, that looks/sounds aftermarket. The factory 'immobilizer', like 93xe said above, is just that the vehicle won't start without the chip key.

QX4 all they way!

The SES light will mostly likely come back on at some point. I have a downstream O2 sensor that throws a code. The SES light comes on for a few days/weeks, then goes off for a few days/weeks.

I don't mean to go off-topic, but how is the ride/noise comfort with those AT2s?
-
That is an AWESOME idea! I think I'm going to have to implement it one of these days.
-
NICE! I want to lift mine so bad it's not even funny.
-
I do, but it comes standard with 01+ QX4s.
-
I've seen them on an R50. They don't look half-bad. More of a street rim, though.

4x4white03, I know you're new and all, but perhaps you could add to your already existing threads instead of creating new threads, as they're all related.

Jackson Autosport's R50 Missing Link

R50FJ60, I forget the manufacturer but there's a cheap brush guard on ebay in the $170-$220 range. Personally, I'd rather spend a couple hundred more and get a real bumper. If I ever get the money I'll probably get one from KMA. I only live a few hours away. EDIT: Actually I think it was Hunter. -
"Yes she would. But good luck getting one. ARB discontinued those and will only produce them if they get enough confirmed buyers, from what I heard."

Anyone know where to get a nice looking rear bumper?

I. Want. That. -
There's quite a few aftermarket vent visors available. Check ebay.
