  1. I'm thinking you just tap the [white with red dots] wire coming from the switch (trigger) into one of the power wires going to a reverse light. Don't take my word for it though.
  2. Yeah I heard about that those issues too. But from what I heard those were the previous generations of mini-14s. Ruger supposedly fixed a lot of the accuracy problems in their newer minis. They're the best bang for the buck as far as I've seen. And I'd rather not get an AR. I don't have any experience with either platforms, just going on what I've seen and heard. My dream gun is the Bushmaster ACR- put it water, put it in mud and it still shoots. Plus you can change it to a 6.8 SPC setup. But those fetch for quite the pretty penny. I'd sure be able to use the lift a lot more than a rifle!
  3. I'm really not sure. Maybe tapping into one of the power wires to the reverse lights to trigger the PIAAs somehow. Again, I don't really know, but I would think it would be possible somehow. Maybe someone else can chime in.
  4. Actually I was just on vacation two weeks ago, but you still may be right. Well, I'm kind of having second thoughts about lifting my Q. This stepped into the equation: Ruger Mini-14 Tactical Rifle I don't know which to get!
  5. Just curious; why didn't you wire it so that the lights come on with the factory back-up lights while in reverse? Looks good though!
  6. Haha nice! I also dreamed that I forgot to clock in at work so they fired me, saying that I was absent. And I was like, "I wasn't absent, I just forgot to clock in. I did the work-people even saw me. I even clocked out!" I HATE dreams about work!
  7. Haha, yeah good thing I didn't say I HAVE a dream... I believe the groceries comment was referring to the R51 PS. we could totally turn this into a 'what did you dream last night thread' Haha
  8. that I lifted my Q. haha Hopefully I'll be able to make that dream a reality when I get my tax refund.
  9. ^ This is true. I'd love to have projectors for my HIDs! It would make them that much better! Not that they're bad now, it would just be nice to have a crisp cutoff.
  10. @esy Thanks for your input. That's kind of what I was thinking already. Just didn't know if the chances of melting something were high or not. @01sivapathy I can appreciate your opinion, but I much prefer function over form. That's not to say that I won't try to make whatever look decent while doing whatever. The lights serve their purpose, and do it well. Personally, I don't see how better lighting has anything to do with being stock or not. But everyone has their own opinions and whatnot. Although, a lift and some A/Ts are definitely upgrades I want to do at some point. I haven't noticed any reflection off the hood. I wouldn't call the beams 'pencil' because they're driving beams, but they are rather narrow so I haven't noticed any reflection off the hood or cutoff from the roof. I ran the lights' power and ground wires inside of the weather stripping going down between the windshield and the driver's door into the engine compartment. I grounded the lights on a bolt on the fender- one of the first bolts you see once you enter the engine compartment from that route. I also grounded the relay there. Ran the power from the relay to something like 'main battery' in the fuse box beside the battery. Then I drilled a hole into the clutch plate and put a rubber grommet in it and ran the trigger wire through into the cab to my switch. From there, I tapped into the fuse slot in the dash for heated seats (which I don't have) for the power to the switch. I grounded the switch on a bolt under the gear shifter. I mounted the switch into one of the empty panels where the heated seat buttons would go on the center console in front of the gear shifter. I probably should look into some theft prevention. I'm not too worried right now though. I took my running boards off a long time ago. The only way you could reach the lights is to climb up on top of the truck- which as 01silva said, would look rather obvious.
  11. They're surprisingly bright for what they are. I think it's the background and the roof throwing it all off because the lights don't look that awkward in person- but yeah I noticed that in the pic also. It'll probably look better once I get two more up there. I'll ask again in case it was looked over; but would I need to worry about anything if I were to use 100w bulbs instead of 55w? EDIT: I did a quick photoshop, how's this look?
  12. Well right now I have a traditional toggle switch. But yeah my worries were that the LED constantly being lit would drain the battery. But thanks for clearing that up
  13. Yeah I plan on putting two more up there at some point. Those two are kinda looking a little lonely
  14. I'm currently running the power into the fuse block for the heated seats- which I don't have. It receives power with the key in the 'on' position. I had originally wired it to the 'main battery' panel in the fuse box in the engine bay, which is always hot. The switch worked fine at that point. The problem with that was that the switch has two LEDs, one red for 'off' and one blue for 'on', and with it hooked up to a constant power source, an LED is always lit. Although they're LEDs and don't draw much power, I wouldn't want to chance having it hot all the time. I'll get a pic or two of the switch up soon. I bought it at autozone. It's made by 3A Racing. I can't find anything about it online, not even for sale.
  15. Thanks for the info everyone. I went with a Hella Micro FF kit with two lamps. I mounted them on my roof rack. I didn't want a big bulky light so I went with the micros which are like 3x4 rectangular. I just went ahead and gave them their own switch which I installed where the optional heated seat buttons would go. I bought a touch switch that looked great with the interior but had problems with it (see http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=29296), so I just used the ugly generic switch that came with the kit. New question; the lamps use h3 55w bulbs. Would I run into any problems if I were to use 100w bulbs?
  16. I didn't see any section for topics concerning electrical stuff so I'm posting this here. I bought a switch for my auxiliary lights that's a touch switch-like touch screens (you just touch it to turn it off and on, no toggle button). It works except that whenever I turn my truck on, the default for the switch is 'on'. I'll turn the switch off, turn my truck off, then turn it back on and the aux lights are on because the switch is on. I went and bought another one and it did the same thing. I now just have a generic toggle switch that came with my light kit-which works fine but is ugly. I'd like to get those touch switches working because they go with my interior better and they just look neat. Any ideas as to why it's doing that or any fixes for it?
  17. I went through the clutch plate as well. Very convenient location.
  18. I searched for 'pathfinder tjm' on yahoo image search and that turned up! haha
  19. Anyone know how to get ahold of one of these? I can't find anything on it. I just happened upon this pic on http://www.easternwrecker.com/
