  1. Take the covers (2) off your steering column. Look on the left hand side, at the opposite end of the ignition switch IIRC there are 5 connection points. Check all of them by tugging GENTLY. If any come right off, solder it back on and fire it up (the engine, don't actually set anything on fire). Worked like a charm for my starting problem, a year after I did it it hasn't failed yet. I did it after I put a new battery, starter, and alty in. $$

  3. After I have been driving my Frontier (a 6 speed MANual) then hop in the pathfinder, I have the habit of going into "6th" in the Pathy. I do that once then I'm good till I drive the Frontier again. I'd take either manual or automatic, both have benefits and drawbacks. One benefit of standard is that not everyone knows how to shift them, therefore don't ask to borrow your vehicle!

  5. Thanks!! No lift. Tires are Toyo Open Country 31x10.5x15 which is stock size for Lego rim Pathfinders. Those wheels are 15x8 with 4" Backspacing. Fit awesome, no modifications needed at all. Tire comes close to rubbing at the front while turning but still clears. Didn't rub at all during my test. I'm planning on making my own bumpers in the near future (I hope, I have lots of projects). Rear will be done first. I made up a drawing in AutoCAD, I'll post it up once I'm done. We should definitely go wheelin' sometime. They came on the Finder when I bought it so I can't say how long they lasted. I've had them on there for almost 2 years (daily driver for almost 1 year straight), been through all the seasons. I guess they are an okay tire for the price you pay, but don't expect any miracles. If I wanted to buy a full dedicated snow tire I'd go with Cooper studded. Sorry I took so long to reply, I was in California since Tuesday playing with these 'toys'.
  6. If I mounted my 5000lb winch, I for sure wouldn't mount it on the stock bumper. The easiest way that would still be very strong would be to modify a hidden hitch (or similar) to use on the front, where the tow hooks mount. Then you can fabricate a bracket that the winch sits on and fits on top of an insert. This way, when your not offroading and don't need the winch, you can safely stash it away from thieves, vandals, and weather. You could use it in the back as well if you have a receiver back there. Know what I mean? Heres a crude (very very crude) sketch of what I was thinking. Obviously this wouldn't be the exact design, you'd have to play around with dimensions a bit to accommodate everything.

  8. Try a good local bodyshop. When you weld on frames, don't take the cheapest route, pay a little more if you know it'll get done right.

  10. No lift, 31x10.5 on 15x8 wheels 4" BS. I have an AC 3" bodylift sitting in a package next to me that will be installed soon I hope.

  12. You guys are getting great deals down there... we're paying almost $5.5/gallon up here. I have yet to figure out how Alberta is full of oil but we still have to pay more.
  13. BC's population is sure forming here! Frame rust: as above take an awl (correct spelling) or screwdriver, or pick hammer and lightly poke/hit the areas in question. If it easily goes right through, you have problems. If only little spots go through than it's not too late. Best way would be to sand blast, but you may not have that option. A wire wheel on an angle grinder will pretty much do the same job, just takes longer. After that, prime it with a good quality self-etching sealer primer (non-sanding). Throw some good quality paint over top of that, some undercoating over the paint and your at par or better with factory. Rocker rust: Cover it up! But stop it from spreading more before you cover it. Basically same idea as the frame, grind until you get into good metal then prime it. After that you can find a piece of aluminum or galvanized steel and screw or rivet it over top of the entire rocker lengthwise. I did mine with a stone guard topcoating, but it gives you an idea. That's probably the cheapest way to stop it from rusting more and still making it look decent. Hope this helps.
  14. Love the stance it has now with the wheels and tires. Bodylift is going to be installed one of these upcoming weekends. Fixed the rust and sprayed 3 coats of stone guard on the rockers and bottom of the doors, plan to paint flat black to match the truck's trim.
  15. before: After: The test out. Looks promising eh? They weren't kidding when they said 'irregular and hazardous'. Braved through it, but got stuck coming back. Alot worse than it looks, really steep on the one side. Kicked in into 4LO and took a little run and just barely made it over the peak.

  17. Ok, don't take this the wrong way. If your not sure what a computer does, than maybe you shouldn't be engine swapping. It may seem not too bad in theory, but as we all know, there is always hangups... some bigger than others. Plus, theres always something you didn't think of. If your dead set on swapping, I personally would keep it in the family (nissan). Above mentioned Supercharged VG33 from an 01-04 fronty would be my pick if I wanted to swap. Again, I didn't mean to be a dick about it and didn't intend to hurt anyones feelings in what I said.
  18. Yeah I was just reading the new Summit catalog, and they have one in there. They also said do it in a non food prep oven. How hot do you set the oven?
  19. And, when they did the mini truck Toyota one. They were gonna SAS it and bob the bed. I figured that would be pretty cool to watch, since they hardly do any imports. They rip the front end off, and out of the blue they say "we may as well throw a crate 350 in there". That moment made me stop watching spike TV weekend mornings.
  20. So we had a good dump of snow a few weeks ago (and still). About 2.5ft, then freezing rain right after. The pathy was tucked under a car shelter (those vinyl ones) for the winter safely... or so I thought. The weight of the snow collapsed the shelter and a crossbeam smashed the back spoiler or w/e you call it in a few peices and another x-member landed square in the middle of the roof, putting a nice watermelon sized dent in it. My 78 ford was in another shelter next to it, same thing happened, but busted the windshield (probably the only good part on it). Ouch, expensive winter for me. Silver lining: got a new grille for my frontier for xmas Getting a 3" lift for fronty this spring along with 33" coopers on 17" MB 72 wheels. Still got the 3" BL from 4x4parts I need to put in, may as well fix the dent at the same time. Thats it for now I guess.... wish you all happy holidays and hope everyone has a good new year
  21. or a Z, Im currently looking for a project 260z (they made em for only 1974). I sourced one in my town for $400 anyway, last weekend was a datsun/nissan only show and shine (aka heaven for me who owns 4 nissans) First one is a 2000. Beautiful little cars when they are restored.
  22. The starters are really easy to get out of a stock 'finder (especially your first time).... NOT. When I replaced my starter a couple months ago, it was $300 something, and it didnt even fix the problem, my problem was a bad connection at the ignition switch. There seems to be a few different problems relating to not starting, make sure you research it to pinpoint what exactly your problem is.
