I used the Viewmax frameless ones from wal mart since I got my truck and they still worked well until my trip this summer. I bought the cheapest ones the store had and they are actually great. Only 8 bucks a piece.

It can take either or, actually. The manual for my 95 specifies atf for the tcase but the older wd21s specify gear oil.

We live in Canada. The same city actually. Labour rates for shops are anywhere from 75-100 dollars per hour. So 52 dollars tax in for 4 wheel balance is not unreasonable. I wish it was 17 bucks! It is really hard to find a good shop here. I have a few that I know I can trust. But I don't have a tire balancer so I can't do this myself like most things. This is true. My mother has a 2006 maxima with the 18 inch wheels and those stupid stick on weights always fall off and the balance is never perfect.

Manual hubs are about 180 dollars IIRC. With the auto hubs you have to roll forward after you put it in 4wd. If you are already in slush, put it in 4wd and accelerate, and the truck slips the hubs will sometimes make the noise you describe because the rear tires are spinning faster than the front. On the sun-visor on mine it has instructions that says you can put it in 4hi at speeds up to 40 km/h (25mph?). I never had any issue with doing this but some say it's bad for it.

Actually it takes 3.4 liters which equals out to 3.59 quarts. Do not put 5quarts in!

They might not because it is so close. But I would try anyways. Another good one is the one on Merivale road. They were able to align my truck perfectly with the suspension lift.

Could have been the auto hubs not fully engaging as well. Was it a ratcheting clicky type noise or obvious gear nose?

It should. Which crappy tire did you have them done at? I know the good and bad ones in Ottawa lol.

Should be 5x7 all around in the 93-95 pathfinder. The 87-92's had 5.25 in the front and 6x9 in the rear in pods IIRC. If you have the speakers on the roof in the back and they are oval covers they are the 5x7s. I would recommenced the infinity reference series they have great response for the size. Stay away from Sony head units.

Make sure the wire to your oil sender is not loose. It is to the left of the oil filter and can get knocked loose sometimes.

Take it to the Crappy tire on Carling ave (the big one) and get them to do they are the only ones who have been able to balance my tires properly so far. It's about 50 bucks to get all 4 done and they usually do it right away with no appointment.

replace the rear main seal while your in there.

That means you've tightened it too much. Turn it 1/8 - 1/4 turns at a time until it is back at an acceptable level. Mr510 and I turned mine 1/4 of a turn and it was perfect after.

Go to an auto body supply place and get some seam sealer. You can get it in tubes (that go in a caulking gun) or in a can that you can brush on. It's meant to finish off welded floors but it should keep you dry until spring. Put some on the inside and outside of the truck.

If the wheel hub was hard to turn then you probably over tightened the bearing lock nut. Did you follow the procedure in the FSM? I would take it apart and make sure the bearings didn't get burnt.

Dude that's normal. There is actually a TSB on it somewhere. Says to use the specific Nissan fluid for cold weather. It won't hurt the tranny and from what mr510 told me it is actually better for an auto tranny to shift fast and hard.

Did they show you the pan? If it is a gray metal looking paste it is normal, mine had a bunch of it in the pan too when I changed my filter but I was told by a Nissan tech that it is normal for a high mile tranny. Now if there were shavings on the other hand...

I only measured the torque when I replaced the drivers side bearings all other times I did it by "eye" before I had the hub tool. I've never had a bearing problem and the only reason I changed the bearings is because a slightly cupped tire was giving me the symptoms of bearing failure. According to the fsm the torque specs is less that 2 ft-lbs. Here, this should help him:

There is a thread around here somewhere that was basically a write up on how to install a 3.3L motor from a 96-2000 pathfinder. It's a pretty much bolt in swap that will get you 20 more hp and even better if its a low mileage one.
