I learned to drive on a stick and took my test on a stick. It's best to learn when your young. I tried teaching my girl how to drive a stick what a nightmare that was. The only advice I could give is start with a parking lot before going on the road.

May I suggest when doing anything electrical to disconnect the battery. It takes 2 seconds.

Cool, I'm going to add a spring to the antenna and probably have to redo the SWR readings then. Yep 1/8 of turn can throw your readings way off. I see your external speaker in the pic, I was thinking of putting mine on the "A" panel. I was also looking in the engine compartment for PA placement but it's kinda tight up front. I happy with it overall. Maybe in the future i will go with a "Big Radio" LOL When I called out for a radio check and said "Good Buddy" they were all laughing at me.LOL

It's a good idea! On another forum I visit you must be registered for at least 3 months before you can sell anything.

Well I got it all installed today, lucky because it's suppose to be freezing tomorrow. It was a little bit of a pain to cut out the back of the little cubby hole.I got about 1.5 SWR reading across all channels.
-
It's recommended to use a external SWR, those internals are not always accurate. Radio Shack has a nice one for $35. Has anyone found a good spot for a PA speaker?

5x7s I bought dont fit in the front doors!
John Boy replied to BLouisGod's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Yep I squeezed some 5x7's in the rear but went with 4x6 in the front. Of course I wished I would of squeezed 5x7 in the front as they sound so much better. -
Nice set up!....Can you hear the speaker ok or do you have a external speaker?

Cool Thanks for the info. I bought mine from Spark's CB shack, he's a old timer with a good rep he peaked and tuned the radio for me before shipping it out. I should get about 15-20 watts. I also bought a SWR meter from RS @ $35.00 Thanks 88 I think I'll scrap the roof thing. I can't wait to hook up the PA speaker also.

First let me say it's so good to be back, I really missed this place and all the knowledgeable people. While I was staying away from the site I have been obsessing about my CB install. I ordered 4 different CB's and finally narrowed it down to one. The Uniden pro 520.I was going to go with the Uniden pro 538 which had a depth of 8.5 and wasn't to sure it would of fit in the spare din spot, I think maximum depth on a 95 is 7.3. So I plan on utilizing the little cubby compartment below the radio to put my Uniden pro 520 into in. I will need to cut out the back of it to get it to sit flush with the radio. Cubby hole is 5" deep the CB is 6.5 deep. I already installed a 4' firestik on the passenger side rear, I choose this spot because of the access panel. What sucks about the Pathfinder is that 3 inch channel going down the middle of the roof it doesn't allow for a 5 inch wide Wilson mag mount. The firestik leans a little bit but flows with the truck nicely, will post pics tomorrow. Well there's a question in all of this....I know the ideal spot for the antenna is on the roof but I wasn't to sure about drilling there. Now what I would like to know is if I drop the front dome light is there access to drill a hole there? Has anybody done this? Also how the hell do you get off the "A" panel off. The panel between the front and back seat where the seat belt is attached? I see one screw at the bottom but that's it, I want to run the wire behind there. Also does that plastic headliner strip come off somehow? O almost forgot as far as power fuse box or straight to the battery? Is there a spare slot at the panel and is there a hole some where on the firewall? Thanks guys I've been loving my Pathfinder of late, just think I was going to get rid of it but somebody on Ebay backed out of the deal. After that happen I ended up putting a all new stereo system in, a nice Kenwood with the flip down faceplate for security, also put some nice 5x7 Sony's in the back, couldn't get the stock grille's back on but it looks cool all exposed. I also tinted all the windows, it looks really cool on a black truck with chrome rims. Sorry for being long winded, did I mention I missed this place. Gonna order me some nice stickers now.

Same problem here, I keep getting warnings from Norton security High Threat.

Anyone here ditch their spare tire carrier?
John Boy replied to BLouisGod's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Hey I have that foglight on my truck......Maybe I should stick another spare tire on the front bumper. Not to point blame but those blackout tailights may not be the best thing in the world. -
Thanks but California. is just a tad to far.

Anyone here ditch their spare tire carrier?
John Boy replied to BLouisGod's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I was going to take it off right up to the minute some idiot banged into it me as I was sitting at a red light. It makes for a great rubber bumper! -
Well wanna laugh? The guy just left me a message that he has to back out of the deal........ This was a "Buy it Now" on ebay! I think he figured out he was selling it to cheap....Oh well I wanted a SE anyway, he did me a favor. Is there any other online car sale sites besides Autotrader, ebay, craiglist and cars.com
-
I think we determined it was the rear bushings and not the struts.
-
Why are we all obessed with BIG tires? LOL
-
Thanks for all the input...I'm really torn between a SE and LE. I find it a dam shame that they set up the LE for smaller tires. I think it would of looked really truck like with the bigger tires and no wheel well or step rails. You can tell they designed this truck with SE in mind and LE as an after thought. Look at how much space in that wheel well, what they hell were they thinking?
-
Yep am going to have to think about this because as I was getting a good deal on the LE, it's really not what I want. Also am sure come Jan. book values will come down. I think we need a SE vs LE thread to make some comparisons.
-
That was the answer I was looking for, I thank you. I may have to rethink this LE thing, I really like the SE better.
-
Thanks............ Could you put 265/70/15's on the LE rims? which call for 230/70/15 without screwing up the speedometer? I just hate the look of all that extra clearance in the wheel well. I wonder why they went with the smaller tire for the LE
-
So am set to pickup a 96 LE on Friday but please allow me 2 noob to a R50 questions. I read the SE had 15x7 rims but did the LE have the same size rims or did they have 15x6 rims. If they had 15x6 rims can I put the 15x7 SE rims on it with a slight rub 31x10.5? or can I put 31x10.5 or 265/75/15 tires on the possible 15x6 LE rims? ( The truck calls for 235/70/15) Which are tiny IMO. Other question is apparently there is just one thing that doesn't work on the truck and that is the rear side driver's door does not work with the master power lock switch. Could this just be that little rubber switch on the door jam? I'm really looking forward to more power, comfortable ride and most important NO RUST. I would of preferred a SE but it's hard to find one with a sunroof at a reasonable price. Thanks
-
I look under the truck today and gear oil is pissing out of it so I brought it back to the dealer and they replaced the seal and reinstalled the drive shaft.....It seems to be fine now no more vibration.
-
WOW you guys know your Pathfinders......I wish I would of known more about the R50 before buying a WD. I love my WD but I quicker motor, more comfortable ride, stronger tranny and no rust will be welcomed.
-
LOL I'm going to buy a 96 and I have a 95 but I was just wondering why the 96 is worth $2000 more then the 95? Do they base any of this on the fact the WD has a rusting problem? It's amazing that the 96 has no rust and resides in the same salty area. It also has more miles. I guess am just bitter that my 95 is rusting away right in front of my eyes.
