  1. SAFC is kinda limited though. Standalone ftw. I had reset my ecu every couple of weeks with a safc because it would learn what was going on and adjust it back to stock accordingly. haha.
  2. I have auterra. It's pretty good for datalogging and whatnot. Also lets you do trouble codes. Autoenginuity ftw though. "enhanced nissan" is about as close to vagcom as you can get for the pathfinder.
  3. I would get denso's as they are likely the same thing the dealer sells. Also, I would only replace the front two. The set after the cats really don't have much bearing on mileage etc. They're just there to see if you have cats on or not. (You could spend 40 bucks on a little box and delete them too I bet)
  4. I have the smell too...it took me a couple days to find the source. It was ps fluid from the reservoir leaking onto the manifold. Check your hoses as any other evidence turns into popcorn.
  5. And for free oil changes at jiffy lube. lol.
  6. Eh, drilled rotors wear pads faster, crack easier, and warp sooner. They do stop faster, but for longevity and performance I'd go slotted. (Not to mention all of the mud and rocks that will be flowing through those offroad)
  7. probably just lost one of those little bolts from inside your intake manifold.
  8. well considering they were designed with park benches in mind and other objects that can be found at the mall it's no surprise that a real rock screwed things up for ya. The BP skids are amazing. Def pick up a set if you can.
  9. my old man would put low grade in his VQ at sea level (87 in CA). Knocked all over if you lugged it. lol. Feel bad for whoever bought that lease return.
  10. ya, not to get too far off topic, but the only reason I'm touting the VG engine is because I'm going to boost the piss out of it. If I were to leave it alone I'd get a VQ. haha.
  11. ya, I got this thing as a project for really cheap. It has come a long way, but is going much further. When I got it, the oil looked like it hadn't been changed in years, the front calipers were frozen and it was stopping on the rivets, rotors gone, bearings gone, interior destroyed...and yet it still worked. lol. I spent a while scraping sludge out of the engine and it still runs very well with 155k on it with a tick on startup. I wasn't planning on keeping the engine to begin with though.
  12. The Z guys typically dyno high 240's to the wheels with the typical intake/header/exhaust setup. (just as a contrast from their 235 to the wheels stock)
  13. ask this question on a 350z forum....that's where the rumors started.
  14. not to mention the torque curve of a VG with 240 hp... I could honestly make way more hp than that. 240 would just be outright easy though. Considering the extra cost of the VQ, I'd put them on equal terms at 240hp...with the VG having the option of a vg30dett rods/pistons and 500hp. EDIT: before someone says it, I've seen high hp VQ also...they're just more expensive to build.
  15. high quality oil doesn't sludge...usually. Poor oil flow will make anything sludge though. ie, check behind the cam seals on a VG.
  16. ya, the vq30 and the vq30det are quite famous. Tight tolerances can be a good thing if you know what to do with them. Basically means that it wouldn't be easy to rebuild in the long run though. Tough call. I can easily get 240hp out of my VG for the same amount of money....(with more torque as it's sohc)
  17. Well, we all know the VG engines are built like fricken tanks (weigh about as much too)and will last a long time if you remember to change the t-belt. How are those VQ's holding up? I may be able to get my hands on a VQ with 112k on it so I'm debating on whether or not it's worth the extra hp.
  18. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-EXHAUST...sspagenameZWDVW I know of about 10 people so far that have had good luck with obx headers. If you extend the wires, you need to use shielded/larger wire and a pair of weatherpack connectors and it will be fine. I'd personally still run a pair of high flow cats down low to be in compliance with federal regulation. (They don't really kill power anyway)
  19. lol @ alex's new sig. you nerd....still funny though.
  20. You'd have to think that you're special enough for a nigerian to single you out of a group (by e-mail no less) to fall for something like that. I bet a alot of narcissistic americans fell for that one.
  21. seriously, I'd save yourself the money and just get 32's now with some backspaced wheels. Once you get a lift on there the 31's just look silly in my opinion. (Looks at my 31's)
  22. just a thought, but the early 90's maxima's e-fan fits perfectly on the R50's. I wonder how close it is on the older pathfinders. (Just have to cut the ridge off)
  23. ya, that's where it's leaking. I didn't know burning ps fluid smelled like burning food. lol.

    eh, wtf?

Well, for some reason my engine bay smells like my neighbor's wife cooking in the kitchen. It smells just like when some cheese drips down in the toaster oven and starts burning. At first I was thinking my neighbors sucked at cooking, but I realize now it's coming from MY engine bay as I smell it wherever I go. What on earth can smell like that? I searched everywhere and found nothing. I was expecting to find one of the neighbor's cats curled up behind an exhaust manifold or something. The PS reservoir is leaking a little. The smell is definitely on the drivers side. Could burning ps fluid smell like that?
  25. I was reading a review on the kumho mud terrains and the guys ran over a few cacti with it to test them out and had no troubles.
