  1. oh ya, the fsm you download is identical to what's on alldata, so don't bother signing up if you want more info...it's a waste of 20 bucks.
  2. seriously, when someone asks a question like "what do I need to get to do the swap?"-Don't respond with BS like get a 4wd. Let the man have his fun and give constructive responses. If you don't know or can't otherwise contribute ideas to help, don't post. /rant edit: btw, if you need undercarriage pics etc let us know. And take lots of pics during the swap, I'm sure the question will come up again. What are your ultimate goals? A junk R50 would be a good place to figure out how to SAS these things.
  3. you realize those lowered rice rockets all have spring rates over 200 right? 160 rides like a truck. The OME's are the way to go for the best balance. They're just a little stiffer, handle great and don't sag like the stockers.
  4. I guess that leaves little question as to why it rolled over. haha.
  5. I think I started about where the pavement ended.
  6. hehe, I actually know where that is. It's really too bad the cops don't do anything when you call in a plate. I called in this asshole tailgater in an audi a while back and they did absolutely nothing.
  7. That makes me feel a little better. haha. I can't wait until the winter gas is gone.
  8. Well, I'm curious. Do all shocks with the hoop to hoop setup have the same mounting width? ie, I could just pick the shock off of the pro comp website that has the compressed and extended lengths I want and throw it on?
  9. The bypass hose comes straight up off of the thermostat housing and goes to a T on the....upper rad hose. It's only a couple inches long. I think I just got one from autozone. Click here for a cheap one
  10. So far I'm getting 12.8mpg with about 80% hwy driving. That's on warn hubs, 31's, and an exhaust. That really sucks. My heep with the 5.2 did better than that around town. EDIT: This is on a VG R50...I bet you VQ guys get better mileage.
  11. you should get tmorgan to make some 1.5 inch strut extensions to prevent topping out.
  12. looks like uhaul changed the design. The new one I was looking at online only came with 4 bolts a side. (uhaul website)
  13. so you're saying I should get a uhaul hitch, throw in some tough hardware with it, and then just try to break some rocks offroad eh? I guess I can live with that.
  14. I wouldn't put too much confidence in the fact that the previous owner was a mechanic. Someone who doesn't like their car may not take care of it whether or not they know the consequences. The guy I bought mine from lied to my face and told me had replaced the t-belt. Lo and behold it was the original at 150k.
  15. lol...if they're that tough then I may as well get one. I was just amazed following alex as he sunk that thing into the ground. I was just waiting for it to catch on something. But I guess you're right, better the hitch than the bumper.
  16. too bad they're still faster than pathfinders.
  17. So I'm looking to be able to tow some stuff with my R50, but I don't want to get it hung up on junk offroad. Anyone know which hitch has the lowest profile? I'm gonna vote against whatever alex has...(uhaul?).
  18. eh, I run 85 octane at higher altitudes and have never ever knocked. I would be thinking more along the lines of ecu reflash or getting the "boost sensor" checked out. I wonder if the ecu takes a baro reading off of that on startup like some other cars.
  19. sender or wiring. Most likely the wiring.
  20. And your swaybar bushings. Mine were broken through on the top side and not very visible without moving things around. I also had my wife rock the path while I stuck my head under to see.
  21. She probably had some crappy springs/struts. A well done kit rides nice (and a little on the stiff side). I dunno, a lowered pathfinder with a det swap would be fun... It would need to have at least 500hp to upset some people at the track though. haha. (Might get a high 13 out of it.)
  22. hmm....I bet it's the shocks then. I think I used whatever was on the original shocks to install the ome shock, but I'm betting that could be it. I did torque it down with my impact, so it's tight. I have a bad habit of doing it by feel.
  23. Ok, so I threw on the ome coils and shocks in the rear and now it clunks whenever I hit bumps. It's not bottoming out or anything, just some kind of rattly clunk that's driving me insane. Any ideas what could cause this? It doesn't make the noise no matter how hard I rock the path on the ground. Only when it gets a good bump (which there are a lot of out here).
  24. another option is this little pos pipe from apc that has a ring of vacuum line additions sold at www.partsamerica.com It's pretty cheap and then you can shape the rest of the intake however you like. I'm planning on moving things around myself here pretty soon.
  25. they were the same...the max (mid 90's) is the same too.
