  1. That should work. I heard a lot of crap about the weld quality of OBX headers. I guess they improved.
  2. Seriously, I lol'd. I just don't understand this whole deal with eating and drinking in a vehicle. Is it so hard to go inside and sit down and eat and drink like a human being? Why do you need to take all this food and drink into the car? Is it so hard to wait an hour or two between meals? No wonder people are so fat these days. Other than a bottle of water I don't see a reason to have anything else in the vehicle. Why do you need to drink coffee or soda while driving? Drink and eat your things when you get to your location. Why is it so hard to do that?
  3. If you are talking true dual from the engine then forget it, there is no room to route a dual exhaust down there. Also, a single pipe will always make more torque than 2 pipes. If you want duals from the muffler then it's do-able but there is too much headache going by the fuel filler line. I looked into it before and it's not worth doing because the routing will get insane especially with bigger pipes. I barely stuffed one 2.5" down there. I built my own system too!
  4. Duals are nice but... If you already have new shocks and want to improve ride quality without spending too much money then look into fixing sway bar links and bushings and new coil springs.
  5. I am tempted to replace my fuel filter and test again.
  6. I removed the fan without even touching the shroud or the radiator and I have no lifts. It's not the timing belt because there is no sound when the truck runs with all 3 belts removed. I am going to look into the alternator a bit more but I think it's the water pump because the sound is closer to the water pump when probed with a stethoscope.
  7. Yes and no. Some people I talk to have said if they would do it again they would not use a body lift. I think these trucks look much better without a body lift than with one because of how the body lift exposes the frame too much. Then you need to adjust those bumper mounts and cut up the fan shroud.
  8. Just curious, what do those primary tubes measure on the inside?
  9. Americans and their &^%*ing cup holders. You could take the best car ever made and if it doesn't have a cup holder it's crap. You take a crap car and put 30 cup holders everywhere and it's a success. Really, just stick one on somewhere and use it. You have that whole box under the e-brake for random things. About that ash tray thing, it's not that great for anything large. Your drink will cover the climate controls and vent ports.
  10. Did that today... The same whine was still there so it's not a fan clutch. Now I am left to choose between the alternator and the water pump. The new 90A alternator spins around very nice though (at least compared to my old one which made noises turning over) and I just put it in 2 days ago. I think if the alternator was bad it would get loud over at least a few hundred miles and not right away. So most likely this is a water pump noise. I guess it's time for a 20k timing belt then. Should I buy a new timing belt or just take it off and install a new water pump? Bro-tip: To remove the fan without removing the shroud take off the bottom skid pan and pull the fan out from underneath the drivers side while pushing the rubber transmission cooler line on the passenger side out of the way.
  11. I am using a genuine Nissan water pump and it started making noise then? So much for parts quality...
  12. I am going to pull the fan tomorrow and see if it goes away. I never heard a fun clutch sound like this before but then in Nissan land it may as well be that. At least I really hope it is that because I am going to go break the re-builder's knee caps if I have to yank this alternator out.
  13. stupid ash tray thing that is ghetto as hell id rather use that spot for a CB radio this is a much better idea stolen from another thread
  14. nope belts have nothing to do with it the noise goes away after removing the fan/alty belt and comes back after installing it back on
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4rQI2sxTok I have this ridiculous whining noise from the engine that has been getting worse. No idea what it is but I did try some diagnostics. Removing the power steering belt and the A/C belt made no difference. Removing all 3 made the noise go away. Does this sound like a fan clutch? I checked the pulleys for play and none had any play. They all currently spin like brand new. No grinding or crunching anywhere! The water pump does not weep out of the weep hole either. I had this noise before with the old 70A alternator and after I did the 90A conversion it seemed to have got even louder. That is weird too because the old alternator makes all kinds of squeaking noises turning over and the new rebuild spins like brand new. I have no idea what is going on here. Should I try to just change the fan clutch and see what happens?
  16. All done! Pictures or it didn't happen right? BEFORE AFTER Here is the old thing with the new pulley on it, just for fun! How it looks from the back end: There you have it folks. The easiest upgrade ever.
  17. Pulley swapped directly and all the wiring connectors were plug and play. This is going from a 70 to a 90. More pics coming soon!
  18. that looks clean to me probably the best way to do it too
  19. check your ujoints and get the shaft balanced sometimes the little weights fall off
  20. It looks perfectly straight to me from the photo. It's just the distortion from the lens. Looks like it was shot with the widest angle possible that the camera could do. Are you doing a hybrid of v-belt and serpentine belt? That looks very interesting. Maybe you already know but serpentine belts need more tension than v-belts do because of their multiple grooves.
  21. Yes, I like to keep my interior sugar free as well. Things getting sticky from spilled drinks, especially when they spill in the arm rest thing, irritate me to no end. I would only put tightly sealed things in the arm rest fold out holders like thermoses. I had a CD binder in that spot between the seat and the console before so I figured it works great for anything. Back to the custom console thread: If you can't include any cup holders into the design it's really not a big deal.
  22. Same with me. I don't want people spilling drinks all over the place. I do have those two fold out cup holders in the arm rest but those are not that great. I only use them once in a while in certain situations. Having a molded in one next to the handbrake would have been better and more convenient over the arm rest fold out holders. Either way I was really never bothered by the lack of cup holders. I only keep a water bottle around and just jam mine between the seat and the console. That's all I have to say and I'm out of here before the sharks eat me. Just to make it really clear, I said people have obsessions with multiple cup holders around and not that having one or two is bad.
