  1. :cool2: glad to hear the fam is ok my and my 4-month pregnant wife hit black ice last thanksgiving doing 65 mph slid off the road and rolled it on its side and slid like 40 ft. Thank god for seatbelts because who knows what would have happened. I got a good gash on my head from the broken glass but that was it. Sad thing was the next guy behind us hit the ice rolled his F-150 and killed him. (no seatbelt) The Emt on scene winched the pathy back over and we changed a blown rear tire checked fluids cranked her up and drove an hour and a half home in a blizzard with now driver window (that really sucked) but i had the same kinda damage window, new skins and quarter panels. The pathy looks new and drives like a champ. I love that truck
  2. I agree completely and want to get involved with the coalition i take my dirt bike up to ride the trails not hill climb or tear things up i just like going where no 4x4 can go. then when that gets old we climb in the pathy and go wheelin but not to tear things up. it bugs me when i see people wheelin throwing beer cans everywhere and going off the trails. I also hate coming up on camp sites that are just trashed some people just suck!! I love the trails here in colorado and do not want to see them closed. thanks for all the info.
  3. I need sombeody to take me step by step on uploading pics of my pathy. I just dont get it i resized my pic using picresizer and it still still says cannot upload that file type somebody please help me -study- :secret: mmm
  4. i dig the hauler except i loaded my XL250 on my buddies and he said we needed to cinch it down tight or it would sway and bob and we were heading up the mountain so i did and sure enough i blew my fork seals. talk about a wasted trip, we just ended up wheelin his cheerokee. I left my bike leaning on a tree.
  5. yeah you are right i do not know who installed the alarm. when i bought my pathy i was excited because it was a expensive alarm with alot of bells and whistles. but it just ended up being a headache. oh well next time i will have it done right.
  6. I do not recomend adding a alarm. when i bought my truck it had an aftermarket alarm on it with keyless entry and all the goodies. It did nothing but malfunction. it would arm itself then when i would openthe door it would go off i would hit the button to disarm and it worked then when i put the key in the ignition the nissan alarm would go off. So i just would not arm the aftermarket but one out of five times it would arm itself automatically and the problem went on and on until one day i opened the door and both alarms went off. and i could not disarm either one so i pulled the battery cable since it was so loud and at 10:00 at night. bad mistake aftermarket alarm tripped starter kill nissan alarm did the same thing big shortout. had to have the truck towed and computer reset and aftermarket alarm removed. total 130 dollars not well spent. F*(* aftermarket alarms.
  7. I too have this weird creeking noise in my 97 pathy. especially when i am going under ten mph and turning and when it is cold summer time i hardly notice it. it is rather annoying so if anyone know's what this is please tell me i want the problem fixed. thanks....
  8. -thnkboutit- I havent been on in a while but i live in Ft. Collins Colo. and want to go wheelin with new people but my rig is also a baby carrier as i had my first little girl six months ago. i am planning a trip to the pingree hill area anybody interested let me know.
  9. yeah i am getting around 15mpg around town in my 97 tomorrow i am going to clean the maf sensor and the throttle body to see if that helps any then next time i get a chance i will chang the fuel filter. if anybody has any other suggesions i am willing to listen thanks.
  10. just a thought i think you should do a compression check on all cylinders and see if all are firing then work your way back from there. that noise seems like crank or cam related to me. i had a bad noise when i blew an engine in my camaro but it had to do with the throw out bearing failing and wearing a groove in my crank main bearing allowing it to move about an half and inch ---i will let you guess what that was like. but i know the engine in your pathy is totally different just wanted to give my 2 cents. as for the camaro i dropped an engine it raced the hell out of it and now i own a pathy and the camaro sits in the driveway pathy's rule. getting muddy is much funner and safer than racing it.
  11. :cool2: thanks for the feedback am going to be cleaning the throttle body this weekend to stop the throtle from sticking. so i will let you know if it solves the problem. as for the temp. pretty much under 30 degrees F is when it starts.
  12. sssh my old boss would buy a quart of a nasty chemical called M.E.K methyl ethel keytone. he had a real p.o.s van that would never pass but he would empty this stuff into his tank run it hard for twenty minutes then take it straight to test. and i swear he passed every time. i would definetely fill up afterwards as m.e.k is really hot potent stuff probably eat up some seals. good luck :contract:
  13. I agree with everything everybody has said. I drive in alot of snow living here in the rocky mountains here is what i have learned. 1. Drive slow 2. Brake real early and brake softly 3. if you start sliding while you are stopping dont jam on the brakes. let off the brake so your wheels will start turning again then hit em softly. 4. if you have 4wd use it wisely. you are not invincible with 4wd. 5. 4wd does not help you stop any faster (that is important to remember) 6. Get good tires like BFG all terrains work well you will be surprised how much tires help in the snow. 7. practice in a parking lot. 8. have good insurance 9. I drop the air in my tires to like 20-24 lbs in heavy snow. 10. MOST IMPORTANT--------Wear your seatbelt. mine saved my life......
  14. Thanks for the link and the advice about the tornado. Now i know not to waste my money on it. I am just looking for little ways to get a little more power. finding headers is hard not to mention $$$$$ i guess i will start with a cone filter and changing plugs and wires first.
  15. Ok i got a question, i want to take you guys advice and look into puting an exhaust system to eliminate bp and give more power. I have a friend that works in a muffler shop, and says he can put duals after the cat-converter is this going to give me power or do i have to go from the engine, i want to know what my options are and maybe pricing if you guys know, I am not worried about how it sounds. i am not a big fan of the rapping out i have heard on other nissan's. Also what do you guys think of the tornado inserts for the intake system. i am puting a cone on this weekend and wonder if i should get one or if it is a waste of money. -study-
  16. -alcohol- i am trying to upload a photo for my avatar. this is all kinda new to me as far as "threads and avatars" go. i just want people to be able to see my pathy that's all. And I do not know exactly what i am going to get "flammed" about. please explain.
  17. I took some pics of my pathy and uploaded them into my cpu and tried to upload them in my control panel but it will not let me telling me an error occured could somebody shed light on this subject and tell me how to do it. any help is appreciated.
  18. I will definetely let you guys know what happens. it kinda sucks i have been real busy with work and then i try to spend alot of time with my 5-month old. was hoping to get the work done today but right now it is snowing hard and tonight i am going to an Avalanche hockey game. but all the advice is awesome thanks. let you know soon. GO AVs!
  19. I also have the deep maroon, liked it so much when i rolled it i had them repaint the whole thing instead of just matching the new doors to the rest of the old paint. cost me a little x-tra but well worth it.
  20. I rolled my pathy unfortunately i was driving 65 on the highway when i hit black ice. i slid all over the road then off the road when i actually rolled it i was going like15 mph sidways then it rolled and slid like 20 feet or so. a little scary. best advice is wear seatbelts. my wife and i both had ours on good thing because we just found out whe was pregnant with our first like 2 weeks earlier. And you definetely want to keep all hands in the vehicle, while sliding my driver window broke out and i instinctively wanted to brace myself with my arm well luckily i did not and only ended up with a gash on the forhead. wife and unborn child came out unscaved thank you seatbelts. I am a true believer. oh and the cool thing is we winched the pathy over back on it's wheels checked all fluids and bumped the starter, she started up and i drove it home.
  21. Man all this info is awesome thanks alot guys. And those warn locking hubs are trick i definetely want a set. I love my pathy and the problem is i just started a family so my wife hates it when i take off to the rocky mtn's because i try to off-road with my friends and their big rigs. but i am surprised how well my 97 pathy does i have 31x10.50 BFG's and some kind of aftermarket shocks (previouse owner installed shocks) and it does great utnil i follow my friends into the way-too-deep stuff. but it is all good that is why my friends are there and why i carry a 30,000 lb tow strap right? atleast now i know what my truck will and will not do so in the future when i get some funds i will raise my pathy hit the mountains, and rock-on
  22. sorry to hear about your run in with the cops. i had a run in with a forrest ranger after a few good snows in the rocky mtns i decided to go up and cut fresh powder with my 97 pathy so i did it was awesome!! but when i reached the top of the ohv trail i was on the ranger was there and hassled me for like an hour saying i was not following the trail and disturbing natural wildlife???? i told him i could not find the trail to stay on it in the first place as it was covered in snow. oh well i was let off with a warning. since then they have put a gate at the trail-head. bummer.
  23. :help: Sometimes after i have been cruisin, and i come to a stop at a stop light or sign go proceed to accelerate and the gas pedal wont move until i put alot of pressure on it, then ofcourse i floor it barking the BFG's. Do you guys think it is a dirty throttle body? my gas mileage kinda sucks too. any help is much appreciated. one other thing i heard high altitude affects gas mileage? i live at 5283ft above sea level in denver area what do you think?
  24. where excactly do i spray this sillicon spray? I have a pathy with a slow driver window in need of lube.
  25. what i want to know is why take a nice jeep made to 4x4 and attempt to drive on ice? if you want to drive on ice come here to denver on a cold winter night....
