Detroit Locker also replaces the whole carrier, but it's not driver selectable and they don't make ones for our axles anymore (from what I understand they used to). The ARB unit is approx $700 or so.

I like to hit up farming supply stores for those. I also did away with the threaded pins in the D-Ring shackles. Seriously there is nothing more annoying than a 3 in the morning muddy fight with one of those goddamn things to get yourself hooked and yanked out of a jam in a rush when water is rushing into your truck. Get yourself some high strength hitch pins with chain (something like this: http://www.wilsonmfgco.com/hitchpins/images/LL1189.jpg ) which also can be bougth at farming supply stores... Makes using the shackle a snap. I realise that it may seem unsafe to theoretically make the shackle less strong by not using the threaded pin, but in all honesty the weakest component will be something else in the system. By the time the shackle will bend apart, the recovery point at the frame will fly off first or the line will snap. Besides the load on the shackles is directed in such way that it wouldn't matter.

I do my own alignment. It's nothing that a measuring tape and some rope couldn't handle.

The stock WD21 rear LSD has about 260+ft/lbs of breakaway force. As soon as you lift one of the tires it breaks away, so you can see that 60 ft/lbs is well.. a joke. As for normal driving, it wouldn't have any effect even if it was welded shut. With the vehicle in 2WD the diff won't even spin.

The ARB locker replaces the entire differential carrier assembly, it has it's own differential spider gears inside. You take the entire stock LSD carrier out, unbolt the ring gear, reattach the ring gear to the ARB and reinstall in the third member. No need to source parts off an open diff'ed Pathy or anything. And yes... weekend warriors should spend their money on better tires and other things first like decent recovery equipment.

How much do you wheel and in what terrain?

You should do your thermostat at the same time as well. It will take you probably 5 hours or so.

Nice video... Looks like you had fun at the Coke Plant. I live about 10 minutes away from that area. sly One note on the video though, perhaps next time make the size a bit smaller. There is no need to make it 640x480 or god knows what it was. It was almost unplayable on my machine. At something like 4MB/sec it skipped like a MOFO.

Yes.. but the R50 and the D22 Navara/Frontier are totally different vehicles, where as the '05 Pathy and '05 Navara/Frontier are almost identical on the front end. You have an R50, no wonder the Navara bumper didn't fit.

Pathy almost got a nice present yesterday. I went to pick up the ARB and it turned out that the shop ordered a 33 spline instead of the 31 spline unit. Grrrr.... So I have to wait another few weeks for the locker, but I compensated by picking up the ARB air compressor. I can install it this weekend sly
