  1. I would like to think that the people who frequent this board are the nicest most giving peeps on the web. It's not like many other boards where noobs get beat to death, and every other post is a flame war. I'd much prefer to keep this site as free as possible, charging even for extra services is going to turn away a lot of newbies. I voted for the slush fund, mainly cause it seems like B will be running it and he's close enough that if it suddenly dissapears, I know where to go looking.
  2. The first to second shift can be rough or extremely abrupt with the AT. Definatly get an aftermarket tranny cooler installed, and get the transmission fluid changed (two things I need to do myself). Second to what they all said otherwise. And if it really only has 84,000 miles you are getting a sweet deal and a car that has many many years ahead of it (my 88 has 207,000 miles!) assuming of course that the frame doesn't rust away. Welcome to the boards!
  3. Wow our first (I think?) Japanese member, even though you are in the states now. Hey think you can get us some of those nifty inclinometers that they have on the Terrano's in Japan? sly The only japanese I know is (and I'm going to spell all of these wrong): konichiwa arigato nani baka gunsuo (or is it gunso?) and one way to say father but I'm not sure how to even begin spelling it so I'll leave it at that. I also know the phrase "de arimasu!" No idea what it means. I'v mostly picked it up by watching anime with subtitles, and after a while if a word is repeated enough it gets kinda obvious what it means. Anyway welcome to the board nagopathy and I hope we can help you with any and all questions you might have!
  4. I'll bite. My sister got the pathy as her first vehicle a couple of years ago. I at this time I was driving a Toyota Camry, and was a ricer enthusiast, was pretty much convinced that my next vehicle was going to be a sweet rice machine of some sort. But as time went on I started falling for the Pathfinders rugged looks, and during the winter it truely started to tempt me. Fast forward to Jan 05. Camry is dieing. Both CV joints were going, engine was sounding angry, drank at least a quart of oil a month, etc. My sister was in the financial position to make payments on a like new car. My mom and her traded in the Camry (my comment "Did they even test drive it?") as a down payment on a Honda CRV (question has there ever been a more "girly" cute ute ever produced than the Honda CRV?). I was given the Pathfinder. Instant love. Granted it took a little while to get used to driving so far from the ground, but since then it's been smooth sailing. Did some searching around the web for info on the pathy and stumbled upon the NPORA, lurked for a week or two then joined up. Now with over 1000 posts under my belt I'm a lot more knowledgable about the pathy, and am a full time poho. YEA FOR NPORA!
  5. Oh boy I got a bunch of cool stuff. For the pathfinder I got a 151 peice mechanics tool set, some metric wrenchs to supplement those supplied in the kit, and a promise of more standard size wrenches once they're in stock. I also got a tire for my spare (a nice Dunlop AT not the AT revo though). Not for the pathy but also cool: Gran Turismo 4, iPod nano, pants shirts jacket, DVDs: Kill Bill Vols 1 and 2, Sin City, and Devils Regects. CD's: Flogging Molly "Drunken Lullabies", Op. Ivy, and Superjoint Ritual "A lethal dose of american hatred". And as a gift to myself and the whole family fast internet! WOOHOO! nissandoms, Reverse going out is usually fatal for the pathfinder transmission. There is a chance that it just needs a really good tran fluid purge and change, but unlikely. Its more likely that your transmission needs to be rebuilt or replaced. Take it to your local auto tranny shop and see what they tell you they will be able to tell better than us. Sorry about you losing reverse! :sniff:
  6. Welcome! We'v got many members in Washington, see who's in your neck of the woods and add yourself to our map here: www.frappr.com/npora If both your brake light and ABS light are on and your leaking fluid from your brake master cylinder you need to get your brake system inspected and repaired ASAP! Bull bars and HD bumpers are available from www.4x4parts.com and other sites. Unless your pathy origonally came with and external tire carrier it's nigh on impossible to get a stock tire carrier to work. However many members have put safari racks on the roof and put a full size spare in there. Hope we can help you with any other questions you might have!
  7. I don't care for beer either. Meh just don't like it Mmm SKKY is my vodka of choice. I can take shots of that without any chaser. -alcohol-
  8. So I was introduced to a new friend, and a couple of his buddies, Friday night. Specifically Captain Morgan, and coke and eggnog. The last time I had a rum drink (in Hawaii), I didn't like it so I'v been staying away from it. But Friday at my friends party I decided that since I bought the rum, I might as well have some. Mmm mmm eggnog + rum = gooood However I was informed that to make eggnog and rum properly you need to use clear rum, and add some cinnamon, I still enjoyed it though. Oh and rum and coke, mmm that's good (even though it was safeway brand coke and not pepsi). I also discovered lemonade and vodka a couple of weeks ago, that's really good stuff right there, better than cranberry and vodka. -alcohol-
  9. 88pathoffroad has fit 6.5's in his 88 two door, but I think the speaker set up is different between the two doors and the four doors. People have also fit 6x9's in the back of their 4 door pathys. I guess my answer is sell your 92 and get an 87-89, and then you can easily fit both! Here's a post with A LOT of info about this: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=175&st=0
  10. Due to the fact that you'v got a Terrano and not a pathfinder, something tells me that the fuses are going to be different, for starters the box is on the other side of the car (I assume). Maybe one of our Australian or New Zealand members could help?
  11. Sweet pathy! Not really an offroader, but thats not a problem a number of members don't wheel. Not too many 05's here yet I think you make number 3 or 4.
  12. Well as per my sig I have a Kenwood deck. It's a couple of years old but it was a heckuva deal. I got it from a friend of a friend, I also got two amps (a 100x2 RMS clarion, and a 50x2 RMS Alpine) and 5 1/4" JBL component speakers. All that for $60! I still haven't installed the amps or the components, but I did install some Kenwood 6x9's. Love my set up stereo doesn't skip and it plays really loud (20 is about the highest I go for fear of seriously hurting my ears).
  13. Bridging an amp just refers to putting the pos and neg wires for the sub in the furthest terminals, instead of being right next to each other they should be seperated by two terminals.

    WTF

No we are still hacked and we are still being redirected to something nasty every time you click a page. Specifically we are being redirected to: http://85.255.113.10/?to=nan24&from=in This needs to be removed ASAP!

    WTF

You guys think my mac will be affected? Also i noticed that link B was posted yesterday, i posted about it in w00t 400
  16. Vote for SC88! I promise to lower taxes! be nice to newbies! pohoing in threads other than the poho threads! a chicken in every pot! a pathfinder in every driveway! A cookie for everyone who votes for me! Seriously no matter who gets the position I'm sure they'll do a great job. May the best man, or lady, win!
  17. Hopefully we'll get some new old members coming back!
  18. OK stupid question time: If I install a tranny cooler am I going to have to drain the AT fluid? If so where is the drainplug for the AT fluid?
  19. Yea I dnam near lost it once in the rain turning left onto a side street, fishtailed all over the place went into the other lane over corrected almost went off the road. :o SCARY! However if you do it right you can neatly slide into the proper lane when turning left from a side street, done that a couple of times too. -bounce- Accelerating hard in the dirt is a fun way of testing for LSD too.
  20. AC sells some high output alternators. Don't know how good they are though?
  21. I am so glad it doesn't snow or get icy here in California. It gets a little icy sometimes in the morning but never really really cold, and any ice always melts during the day.
  22. So you gonna make one for us two door owners? I'd be more than happy to test it for you!
  23. Welcome to the board prospective pathfinder owner! From 87-95 yes the 3 liter V6 was the only V6 option. In 1990 the fuel injection set up was changed resulting in a boost of horsepower and torque, 145hp to 155hp to be exact. There was also a 2.4 liter inline 4 and (not in the US or Canada) an inline 4 turbo diesel. You won't have to rebuild the engine. In no way will that be neccesary, we have a member here who has over 500k miles on the original engine. No matter what year you choose they are all very reliable. Some other problems to be aware of: rust issues (this may or may not be a factor depending on where you live), under the rear seats and under the gas pedal are typical problem areas. Find out when the last time the timing belt was changed, it should be changed every 60,000 miles or so. These are interference type engines so if the timing belt breaks there will be damage done to the heads. Starter problems, most pathfinders are getting to the age where the starter fails. If the truck doesn't start try whacking the starter with a hammer that usually displaces the carbon build up and allows the starter to work for a little bit, but it will need to be replaced if that is the case. Other than that just make sure that the previous owner changed the oil regularly, and treated it nice. Heres basically what I said in a little more depth: http://www.nissanpathfinders.com/BuyaPathy.htm Also good things to look for are: Limited slip rear diff, rear disc brakes, factory 31x10.5 r15 wheels and tires. Transworldmoto is selling his pathfinder if you want one that has already had some serious work done to it and are near San Jose CA. Check it out in the vehicles for sale section of the board.
  24. There are lockers available for the Terrano rear axle: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=5858&hl=locker BTW the rear axle in the terrano/pathfinder is super strong, most axle swaps would basically be a downgrade in terms of axle strength.
  25. SC88Pathy

    No start

First check out the battery, next try hitting the starter motor with a hammer (or other similar solid object). Just once should do it. If the truck starts after hitting the starter your starter needs to be replaced.
