  1. I haven't worked on a turbo system, but I have watched a lot of Mighty Car Mods... My first check would be to disconnect the intake side of the turbo and check if the turbine looks good and spins true or if it's all sloppy and chewed up. If the turbine is damaged, the engine may have ingested the missing material--hopefully not. If the turbine itself looks okay, maybe your wastegate isn't closing, maybe you've got an exhaust restriction in the exhaust system, or maybe you've got a boost leak between the turbo and the motor. The usual "worst case" I read about with turbos is that the oil seals fail, crankcase oil sprays into the intake, and the engine "runs away" and revs like crazy until you find a way to stall it or until it blows up. Look for oil in the intake or intercooler. Given that it sounds like yours is just starving for boost and running rich, it might have some carbon buildup in the cylinders or emissions equipment if it's got that, but hopefully it hasn't done any real damage.

  3. My Grassroots center link is still tight after 8 years of abuse! My hunting camp is a 70 mile drive one way. I drive there, lock the hubs, drive through whatever I have to get where I want, which sometimes looks like I'm driving down a bayou, then unlock the hubs and drive home. I'm on my 4th set of lower ball joints, 3rd set of upper ball joints and second set of upper control arm bushings but I never even think about the center link anymore. I got a manual steering box to replace the idler arm but the idler arm that was on the truck when I bought it 8 years ago is still tight so why bother. Now my wife and I are moving to Tennessee! So I guess instead of playing in the mud I'll be climbing rocks! At least the ball joints should last longer since I won't have them under water all the time! James

  4. Yep, KYBs front and rear (Gas-a-just). They’re ok. Rears are an improvement over the F-150 Monroes for sure, fronts aren’t as smooth as the OMEs were, but aren’t bad. But then again, the comparison includes different springs, too.

  5. Gonna answer your question and address some confusion you seem to have. First of all, it's not a body lift, it's a suspension lift. You can't do a body lift on these vehicles since they're unibody. Secondly, longer struts would not help you with spacers, they would only be helpful with actual longer coils. However, longer struts do not exist for these vehicles unfortunately, best you can do is when the time comes to replace your struts get KYB (with OEM accessories). The rear is where longer shocks would help by giving more articulation, however they are not necessary. As a general word of advice, buy yourself a can or two of PB Blaster and make sure to liberally spray down all the bolts you'll need to be messing with daily leading up to the job so you can actually get those 15 year old bolts loose without having to break out the death wheel (angle grinder).

  6. Speaking of rear springs and spacers, I am gonna do the max all around body lift kit by sf creations for my 03 pathfinder, I am just a little confused of if I will need to get struts that are longer or if the spacers will work without anything done to the struts. I want to order the spacers this week so an answer would be highly appreciated. Thanks, Clark
