I have performed a safe exploit check of this site. The version of ipb (1.3) is easy to hack into and I recommend you upgrade to at least version 2.1.3.

 

I can easily obtain the admin password if I want to. Please upgrade your servers before others exploit your database and delete data.

 

TeamLockdown perform safe searches for web-sites to ensure they can cope with hackers and intruders.

I posted so the admins know to upgrade the site. A lot of ipb 1.3 forums have been hacked recently and I know this is a popular site and I have visited before so I thought I'd let you know.

 

I think you would care if hackers closed and wrecked the forum...

Thanks for the heads up TeamLockDown. We just upgraded to 1.3 not a year ago, which I would guess was outdated even then. That would mean the site will be upgraded to 2.1.3 sometime in 2007. If it was up to me, it would not be so, but I do not have Admin priveliges. :shrug: We'll just have to see what happens...

Having Admin priveleges has nothing to do with upgrading or updating the forum software. I'd LOVE to upgrade the forum software.

 

You need access to the hosted webspace this forum occupies on a server somewhere so that you can upload new updates, configure access permissions and back up the existing forum as a whole.

 

The only person who can do that no longer has a computer or internet at home to use...MrJim. His Pathy is broken down right now too. The clutch went out on it. He's also going through a divorce. I spoke to him a week or so ago.

 

I can try to give him a call and see what we can do...and allright, Filthy Luker, I'll increase the PM box sizes. Good idea.

Ahh, understood 88. Also didn't realize things were so difficult for Mr Jim, last I had heard (a while back), things were on an up swing for him. Sorry to hear he is having hard times; hopefully he will retain his health which he strived so hard to regain.
