Stupid Little Plastic Part.

yesterday i finished swaping my Tranny I realize my door won't unlock or lock using the key, i have to open the passenger door and lift it from the inside.

So i take off the door panel to see whats up, there is a small plastic lifter that connects to the lock cylinder and the metal door lock assembly and the little nipple is stripped. i krazy glued it the two together kind of a crappy way to do it but it works now.

my question is has this happened to anyone else here? and how did you fix it can i buy a new one or just yank one at the junk yard?

any insight would help.

thanks,

Sam

Just buy them from the dealer and they should last another 10 years. Is it really worth $2-3 to pull them from the JY every year or so? For me it's one of the most dreaded repairs on a Nissan. Right behind manifold studs. The part number is 80552-34A00. Can't trust Nunya. He paints parts pink.

lots of stupid little plastic parts on the door lock mechanism. I wonder what brilliant jap engineer is responsible for that little boondoggle?

All makes use plastic connections in the door lock and latch linkages.

I have owned several toyota's and chevy's. Neither of them has ever given me trouble out of the door locks. It is definitely a weak area in the pathfinders.

I've broken those parts on the Chevys I've had before (S-10, Caprice), and on a Honda and a Dodge that I have owned, it's not a Nissan only thing.

Thats just because the Nissan was the only one worth getting into so it wore faster!!! In all seriousness it's a weak link in many different cars and have had them break or seen them broke in multipule different brand cars

Get a keyless entry system and then you won't have to worry about wearing them out!

Out of the 3 pathfinders I have only one has ever had this issue and it was my 93, and it has just over 200k miles and broke in the last few months of DD'ing it.

Oh well, just means that the girls think you're a gentleman when you open the door from their side ;)
