edicer2
Hey All , I have a quick question. When I am in 2 wheel drive sometime when I am going slow mostly spining my tires slow my whole truck feels like im driving on a "washboard". It feel like im driving on an extremly bumpy road with a ton of little tiny bumps. One thing i noticed is if i give it a little more wheel spin it quits being bumpy and is smooth unless i slow the wheel speed down again( this happens when I am moving slowly through deep snow and spinning my tires. i might be moving like 1 or 2 mph and the rpms are at 2k in first just spining but if i put it up to 4k rpms the bumping stops and comes back when i slow my wheels down.) Do i have a mount thats bad? It only does it on a slippery surface when I am in 2h and going very slow. My old pathy did this too but it feels like something isnt right. Could it be my meaty tires? I know my M/T's make a similar effect when coming to a stop at a very slow roll. But only around 10 mph or less.
Simon
Yep....definitely. First couple of days each year with my MT's on, I always think my truck is stalling when coming to a stop.

OldSlowReliable
I think its still just the treads on your tires Edited February 27, 2009 by OldSlowReliable

edicer2
o yeah good point i forgot about bad struts that could be it! If not it might just be my tires
Precise1
Rear end bushings might be questionable. B
colbywan
bad bushings + marginal shocks + aggressive tires = weird effects on the rear wheels? I just replaced all the bushings on my rear and WOW what a difference! But mine had the famous drunk rear end wobble ya know haha -Colby
edicer2
yeah ik what you mena mine has a slight clunk every once in a great while and only does this little bumping thing on a slick spot when its slipping the tires. idk ill check the struts. colbywan
If I were you I'd replace your bushings for sure asap. It's somethin that I put off and put off forever thinking there were lots of other things that were higher on my priority list but after doing it a couple weeks ago if I had known the difference would've been that substantial it would've been the FIRST thing I did. It's like driving a new truck! Seriously man it's worth it. -Colby
88pathoffroad
Might just be the tires slipping a bit at a time when they spin.
GrimGreg
Could be you have some snow or ice build up on the wheel(s) setting them off balance a bit.

colbywan
ok ill look into these a little more what bushing shoudl i check and wheres a good place to get them? If you want poly's which will pretty much last forever you can go here https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_in...roducts_id=2518 otherwise the dealer has them or a number of other aftermarket suppliers. beavis0076
with a suspension in good shape... ie proper bushings and shocks... even with meaty tires... i dont think you should have that prob... i agree with the rest... look into bushings and shocks.... i dont believe there is a strut on the back.. correct me if I am wrong. ... mine does what yours does too.. and it aint right... I just dont care... LMAOv
adamzan
These rigs don't have Struts. Only 96+ pathys do.

It sounds a lot like wheel hop, the same thing happends on the drag strip when a dragster lights up the tires. It feel like an earthquake in the car because the wheel is hopping on the track. I can do that in the snow as well in 2WD. To reduce or get rid of the rumble I modulate the throttle a bit.
