navygz19
Thought this would be an interesting topic. What do you like best and worst about your Pathys? We pretty much already know who drives what, but clarify anyways before posting your likes and dislikes Me? 2002 SE 4x4 w/ about 75K miles now... Likes 1. Looks. I've always loved the way the late build R50's looked. Even in stock trim, and the stock roof rack/wind deflector in the front is really useful too. 2. The VQ. 240/255. It's the most power I've ever had in what I drive. 3. Fold flat seats and the storage space under the trunk (albeit really small) 4. Reliability 5. Heatd mirrors!!! (which I JUST realized I had, a year after buying the damn thing) 6. Ease with changing the oil. The drain plugs right there as is the filter. Only issue I ever had w/ it is my skid has to be moved and it weighs a ton. 7. Comfort and safety when wheeling. I like the way the front seats are placed and how they suppost when wheeling. I stay nice and planted at all times and feel completely in control. 8. The Pathy's ability to cross water w/o a snorkel (though, I don't try to test that one too often ) It's impressive. 9. Timing chain Dislikes 1. Fuel economy (duhh) and the 93 octane recommendation 2. Smoushy suspension, esp. in the rear (in stock trim) 3. Seems to eat of front brake pads fairly quickly. 4. Cup holders suck. But I think that's pretty unanimous in all Nissans. 5. Bushings suck and are made of silly putty. 6. My cheap-o BOSE system. 7. Payload capacity!! 996 lbs?? Let's hear 'em Edited February 3, 2007 by navygz19
Pezzy
My beast: 99.5 XE 5. Heatd mirrors!!! (which I JUST realized I had, a year after buying the damn thing) hahha... took me a while too - A while after I owned the truck, someone on the board asked "how do I know if I have heated mirrors" and I refrained from posting "how stupid do you have to be, to not know" assuming it was pretty obvious if you had them. Few weeks later, it was foggy out, and I turned on the rear defroster... look out the window at the mirrors a few km's down the road and see the centers were clear... *phew* Glad I didnt post that... *stupid head* 4. Cup holders suck. But I think that's pretty unanimous in all Nissans. Actually, the Xterra has pretty good cup holders. I hate that too, theyre too small, and too close to e/o, the one closer to the console is hard to get to if youre using both holders. But then again, my pickup didnt have any cup holders, and I used to ram my cup between the seat & the transmission hump. Worked okay, except for the time I pierced the bottom with the snow scraper which had fallen down in between... it kept the hole covered until I picked up the cup to have a sip... then it gushed out all over my lap as I tried to throw it out the window (DAMN!! CLOSED!) and then the door (DAMN AGAIN, LOCKED!!) So what do I like? It's a sexy bitch - I love how it looks Reliable - the good folks at CAA (canadian AAA) came to recognize me when I had my old truck -- NO LIE!) its a nice change Although I miss having a pick up for storage & camping, I like how much crap I can cram in there... I'd hate to downsize to a car Wheeling - cant do that in a Toyota Matrix (unless youre 88) - what I was looking @ if I couldnt get a truck. What dont I like? Not much really... I wish there were more aftermarket parts for my truck, but at the same time, it's nice having something that NOT everyone has... well, off road anyway, at the mall - my pathy isnt alone, but it doesnt really fit in with the grocery getters, and bling wagons. Gas milage is really my only issue, but hello, its NOT a Honda Civic!? Also adding several hundred pounds of mods, and bigger AT tires didnt help matters... it's something that I just deal with, cant get around it, and for everything I love about my truck, it's worth the extra gas. *runs out and kisses pathy... ew salt!*
Pavelow Leaks
I like the fact that I dont see myself goin down the road every 2 seconds...I've yet to see another lifted pathfinder in Albuquerque I like the fact that if I really had to I can comfortable sit in the backs seat. It's way more roomy in the back than the 04 Escape that the pathy replaced. I like that it's has yet to let me down wheeling. I have broken a few things, but only because I was being overly aggressive on the trails. I don't mind the gas mileage, because my other car is a V8 mustang, so It's about the same. Dislikes.... Don't really have any..I love my Pathfinder.
DJ Dank
Nice post Nismo. Its hard to find anything I don't like about it. I guess maybe some more HP's in the 3.3 would be nice even after adding exhaust, intake, and the little knick knacks like NGK wires and Iridiums. But then again this isn't a race car. Fuel efficiency used to be an issue with me but I've learned to adapt and drive like a grandma. I wish that the stock mirror tint was either on ALL windows or none...I hate the "Lets tint all the windows except the front!" BS. But regardless I was able to match it pretty well. Driving the beast, I do feel safe in it, compared to driving my GF's little Escort or my old Protege in Maui. Like Pezzy mentioned, it is a sexy bitch. My Pathy that is. It is nice driving down the street and not seeing an R50 like yours. I have yet to see another lifted R50 since I've owned this thing(4 years now). Jdpathy
What I like: Fold Down Seats, slight feeling of Power, very reliable most of the time, coils in the back, ability to wear out tires covered with road hazard warranty, I'm thinking..... What I don't like: No Solid front Axle, 3.slow, difficulty to find aftermarket for, gas guzzler, Low clearance when stock, Lousy ifs design... Precise1
Ok, I'll shoot... '95XE Likes: 1) Relatively cheap, but I payed more than most for low miles in Cali. Still, cheap enough to me that I don't sweat the inevitable dings/dents/damage. 2) Reliable !! I say start, it starts. I say go, it goes. I say stop, it stops. Thats what I really want out of a vehicle... 3) Body styling. It's my favorite body style (2 doors suck) and looks good with a lift, rims, etc. 4) A frame. 5) Decent interior with enough room and all the accessories I need without being overloaded with stupid gadgets. 6) The low gearing. Sure, it is to make up for the marginal power of the motor, but 1st gear is very useful, and 4lo is downright crawling. VERY useful when combined with a brain and a clutch. 2:3 isn't bad... Dislikes: 1) Cupholder. Still haven't done anything about it, but look any time I'm in an automotive place. 2) Weak front end. Probably one reason the truck doesn't have aftermarket support. Hopefully I'll circumvent the issue this summer. 3) Not enough power. While it is a step up from my old D720 with the z24 motor, I think another 30 hp would be appropriate. 154 stock, 180+ would be much better. Headers, exhaust, intake, ignition upgrades doesn't quite get you there. 4) Less than adequate aftermarket support, but that seems to be impoving slightly, not to mention fellow enthusiast's support. All in all, it's an affordable vehicle that is fun to drive, reliable, looks reasonable, suprisingly good little wheeler, can be massaged some what and has useless cup holders. Did I say that already ? B

88pathoffroad
I highly dislike troubleshooting all the mystery engine problems that pop up so often. It looks clean, it appears to work, so why does it idle funny and lose power at higher altitudes? ARGH!!!
