not only when the thermostat is open. There is a small air-bleed in the thermostat that allows coolant to flow into the block while the air is vented through the small hole in the thermostat until the block fills. When filling a completely drained system, you will notice that the coolant level drops slowly after the initial fill. This is the block filling and the slow flow of air to the highest point through the thermo.

I was driving it around to dealerships looking to buy a vehicle for my wife. After coming out of a quick lunch break, I turned the key and ... NOTHING. I knew immediately what the problem was so I popped the hood and smacked the positive battery post with a rock. I then reassured the pathy that we were going to replace the dodge van, not the pathy. She started right up. Damned truck with an attitude.

I wish I would have thought of the street-sign fix before I spent the couple dollars on the cookie sheet to fix mine several years ago. Welcome to the club.

put my hand through the frame... again
-
Guess I'll revisit this thread. My pathy won't pass inspection due to frame rot and I have welded it each of the past 2 years (different sections). The shop doesn't think it's repairable but I'm an engineer and a cheapskate so, unless there is no steel at all, I'm heading to the local weld shop to pickup some 1/8 plate. The repairs I have done in the past involve flat outer cut to shape, flat lower bent to conform and 2x2 angle pieces to attach them. Drill some holes for additional access to any steel that remains in the frame so I can weld in the middle of the plate and not just along the edges. I'll definately take pics but we have a tornado watch until 10 tonight and severe thunderstorms forecast for the next 10 days. Not a good time to be laying in the driveway with a welder.

is it latched completely? There are 2 catches. I had a period of time where the second would not engage so the carrier was latched but not tightly against the rubber stop.

I went through this many years ago. I'll have to look and see if I still have my notes. Mine came with the stock radio and no CD player but I purchased one for an altima thaat was identical except for the connector which I did a little snipping and splicing to do the install. I know the cd player has a connector that puugs into the radio (or the other way around) because they do work together whwn installed correctly (CD player turns off radio etc).

When I removed my drain plugs, nothing drained out due to being clogged. I used a pick (a thin nail should work too) to poke around in the hole until the coolant flowed. then shove a hose in to the radiator and give it a good flush.

Let's just say that my 16year old is learning to drive in my truck.

cleaned the goose parts off the front end
-
I used a CD player from an Altima because it was much cheaper than the one for the pathy. The only difference was the connector

LCD's don't like extreme cold or extreme heat ... or low voltage... or brussel sprouts -

Have a parts Pathy until June.. What would you take?
k9sar replied to Patti13's topic in General Forums
washer motors, spoiler w/ hinges (if it has one), pwr antenna (if it has one), rear lift glass supports, all bulbs, pwr window motors... etc. Take a look through the forums and see what people are looking for (or have been looking for) and scavenger what you can. You can either sell them or keep them for when yours fail. -
I rarely look at my spedometer

just get a little digital stick-on clock and viola!

agreed... while it can be a PITA, there is a lot less crap to deal with if you drop the tranny

Engine stalls while driving... Help!
k9sar replied to bigheadlarrylee's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
not in my pathy but in my dodge, a faulty idle air control valve will cause stalling on sudden decelleration. I would check there first (after checking for codes). A bad MAF or bad harness to it will make it run like crap all the time. A vacuum leak usually affects accelleration or idle, not decel. -
I took that stupid bracket off the starter and zip-tied the connector directly to the starter housing. Gave me plenty of room after that.

never a good sign when your auto tranny is making noises like that. I would immediately check your fluid levels and do a tranny fluid change. Look at what comes out and hopefully it's not cloudy. I'm not an expert on auto trannys but I would suspect something like a bearing going bad or perhaps starting to burn a clutch disk surface.

LOL!

While on the lighting topic, I happened to notice that I can't see where my shifter is when it's dark. For my 95 auto trans, are the P-R-N-D-1-2 little squares on the console supposed to light up? I don't think I ever paid attention to it.

I always try to park on the hills, even when there are other spots available. We just haven't had enough snow yet this year

I was towing a speed boat up a long hill in the summer and set my carpet on fire due to the hot exhaust and hole under my feet. Make sure you don't have a rust issue over the exhaust pipe, regardless of what you decide to tow.
