  1. I was leaning towards the plugs and wires. I can't see how moisture would get into the disty just sitting but I can pull it fairly easily and look. step 1 diagnostic would be to check the resistance of the coil and plug wires. step 2, replace plugs and wired (if needed). Looking to see if there might be something I'm missing. As for the injectors, a leak will throw a CEL so I don't think that's it. Was thinking of vacuum advance issues I used to have on older cars but I think the timing adjustment is via ECU and not vacuum controlled.
  2. I got in the truck yesterday morning and it started and idled fine but when I dropped it into gear and hit the gas, it tried to stall out, almost like a 2-cyl when you don't have it choked enough. I feathered the pedal to keep it running and she coughed and sputtered for about 100 yards down the street until it seems to have cleared up and it ran fine all the way to work. When I came out of work at the end of the day, it did the same thing. I had to fight to keep it running but after a couple of minutes, it ran fine. It's been raining for a week or so and I wonder if that has anything to do with it, thinking that it takes a few minutes to get some heat on the engine to evaporate any condensation or whatever though I blast through puddles with no issues. Today, it did it again. I sputtered for half a block till it cleared up. thoughts? Could this be high resistance in the plug wires causing damp ones to fire to the block? Perhaps some sensor that controls the choke (is there such a thing)? It's supposed to rain heavy for the next week so there is no window to troubleshoot and diagnose it. If it's a known solution and fairly easy to do, I can get under a tarp or shove the nose in the garage but I can't screw around with trying to find the failure until the weather breaks.
  3. dealership was closing shop and moving. Also got FSM for $50 and bull-bar for $100. Loved helping them reduce their inventory
  4. I bought the 95 SE new for just over 26k including the 'offroad' package and snazzy graphics
  5. Ya almost want to leave it there and sit across the street with a sniper rifle. F!ing people!
  6. I've pulled mine apart and cleaned the guts. Lots of carbon dust fouling the contacts etc. No problems since the internal cleaning.
  7. routine maintenance before summer... make sure the drain hose is clear or you will get water dripping onto your passenger's feet when you make a hard left turn while running the AC. been there
  8. weld the damned thing shut. You don't need to get under the hood anymore
  9. there are definately 2 different harnesses. They changed in 94 for the 95 models (I believe). The brighter white ones are the newer (pic 2 I think) while the more translucent are the older. Your best bet is to pull the radio and look at your connector
  10. just don't forget thosed damned bolts on the top of the bell housing. I couldn't figure out why mine wouldn't come apart... then I looked again and I had missed a bolt.
  11. another example of why we're all here. Thanks to all who helped our brother from Portugal.
  12. I recall pulling my engine and tilting the front up. I had to jack up the tranny a little bit to get the right angle to slide the engine up and out. Definately take the rad out. Even if you don't need the extra room, it's so easy to damage, why take the chance?
  13. I use a pair of needle nose pliers to shove in the homes and an adjustable wrench to give it a turn
  14. LOL... and I wasn't always a cop. Some skills are good to have... just in case of emergency, right?
  15. it depends on the keying. IF the parts between locks are compatable, you can resequence them to match. You can also file down the parts to make them match but you would need to cut your own key.
  16. only ever failed once when I had an exhaust leak and they wouldn't pass it. Al my readings are nice and low
  17. passed state inspection. woohoo! good for another year
  18. it's a pathy... it squeeks
  19. stick-welded the frame and didn't set myself on fire
  20. I got my 95 SE w/ offroad pkg for 26700 and the list was over 30k (maybe it was 27600 I paid. I forget)
  21. been there. fixed mine with a cookie sheet, a tube of 100% silicone caulk and a couple of silicone hot pads.
  22. fixed my brakes and discovered that I have some more frame welding to do soon.
