  1. ok, NOW it sounds like you need my heads. pull the heads and check the pistons for any cracks, chips or damage. i know someone (red or casey T or MM?) had a broken cam..... maybe they can chime in with what they found. that is a rare occurence, but it has happened before. btw, which cam broke?
  2. yeah, 33's are a push. there isn't much out there in the way of "big" lifts for R-50's at the moment... 2" is about the best you'll get right now, and I think those who are running any kind of lift are running 32's .... hold on to your 33's, one day they will come out with a lift you can fit them with. no, stock wheels would not be such a good idea for 12.5 wide tires... on king i run 15x10 rims. (with 33x12.5x15 tires) the WD-21 (88-95) Pathy's have IFS up front and coils in the rear, and like 88 said, R-50's like yours have struts and coils. a good set of stock sixe AT's always seem to make an R-50 (or any pathy for that matter) look bigger, and "tougher" if that's the effect you're going for. and BTW.....
  3. i agreee, find out the exact cause of the problem first..... if your timing is just a bit out, it would be a shame to buy my heads (which i would only sell to you to stop you from selling your pathy) which would cost you a whole lot more than a few adjustments. timing is everything on these ,motors. as above, i know from experience also. i am willing to sell you the heads, ONLY if you find the actual problem first.
  4. when all you did was buy the new studs n do it yerself.
  5. i have a spare set of heads..... if you want those i'll sell em to ya cheap.... easier (and cheaper) to change heads rather than having a shop do a valve job. also, i have all the tensioners and everything you'd need...... just let me know. I'm in cali.
  6. well, yup, sounds like all routine maintenance stuff. so, she just wants something that no $$ has to be spent on? wishful thinking. i know people with brand new cars that have more trouble than the guy next door with a 10 year old car. everything costs $... now, manifolds are a $40 fix, o/d is no big deal..... you should know by now if yer in o/d or not....muffler.... every self respecting truck needs one...... another $50 fix, the tranny, well, lets hope you learned and got a tranny cooler. ok. so, i am in a bitchy mood today, so i am willing to say, that besides your unknown current issue, it will cost approximately $200 or less to make everything right with your '92. now, trot off down the road and buy that newer pathy..... presto, you just spent everything you already spent on your '92, and what you could spend to make it 100% right... i guess what i am saying is, at least you KNOW your '92. what's been done and when... a shiney, seemingly perfect new car could be a polished turd you know nothing about, thus in the end costing more $$ in the long run. that is just me..... however.... if you decide to buy the newer pathy and KEEP your '92..... now that, would be SWEET oh, and the shock thing... just put regular ol shocks on it and don't use all the sensors n stuff... most of the guys do that once they start acting up..... *walks down the hall to go find someone else to berrate before westovers wife comes a knockin on my door to kick my ass* i think i am just sentimental about my pathy's.... i swear i won't bug oyu again with my overpowering opinions lol
  7. westover for saying "should i just buy a yukon" now... yes, a v-8 conversion can be done, but no, you would have to change out a lot of stuff, and do some firewall mods to make it fit for the dist... what kind of "engine trouble" are we talkin about? is your pathy with a trusted mechanic, if not, you will be told oyu need all kinds of stuff..... which is probably so far from the truth it's not even funny. dumping $$ into it. how much, and what for? anything major since you've had it? you will more than likely get better gas mileage from a newer 2x..... but how you drive it is a major part in a pathy's fuel consumption, and maintenance..... newer pathy's aren't riddled with the usual manifold issues and such. but some parts cost more if they fail, and are less available than older WD-21's...
  8. i know i know...... gimme a break i get confused having both trannies..... brain farts do occur tyvm lol and yes, as simon said, check your cooler lines.... if all is well there...... i'm going to go with my original thought of shot torque converter. ps: what ATF are you using..... there are a few different kinds/grades
  9. if it says it's "fine", then you haven't overfilled it. does it slip when the trans is hot & cold?
  10. could your torque converter be going bad? *excuse me button, i wasn't done yet* ahem have you checked the fluid levels? added the extra quart? (to make it up to 5 qts)
  11. does it slip going into all gears, or just when you shift it into o/d? i don't usually put king into o/d until about 45-55mph... how does reverse work? good? sometimes? do you hear any grinding/nasty noises? or is the slipping the only indicator something is wrong?
  12. exactly what king is doing........ *sighs*
  13. if that's the case, i would weld up some extensions while i'm at it so it doesn't touch yer hood or fenders.....
  14. all they have to do is accidentally stab that seal between the oil pan and rms housing.. trust me. i've done it.. it leaks like a pig.... lol..... or loosen the oil pan blots..... they did SOMETHING.....
  15. yes, there is extensive labor to install a RMS...... sounds like they didn't do anything at all. the trans has to be disconnected, pan dropped, new RMS and oil pan gasket installed.... how long did they have your pathy? i would drive right back down there and complain, and have them do it RIGHT this time. sounds like they cut some important corners....... don't let them get away with that crap. you paid for the job to be done right....
  16. there are some awesome pics of what folks have done with their pathys
  17. uh, ok, i have 4 trucks and 1 vote.. already voted for blue, stated i also have a gray one, and i also have 2 white ones.
  18. damn. sorry to hear about the damage, but it coulda been a lot worse at that speed....... btw.. how'd you "finish it off"?
  19. good lord that is sickness in itself. awesome. truly awesome. *bows down* thank you, and now, i am going to go be sick, while admiring my grocery getter king caca..... and make plans to join in the sickness ...... you are my inspiration and hero
  20. that's what i usually do... i do a "walk around" after completing a job and double check everything was done, torqued to spec, nothing missing..... this method has saved me on a few occasions
  21. we're right here if you have any questions. good luck, and HAVE FUN doing it! (yes, i am insane. i ENJOY doing that stuff)
  22. didn;t they touch yer t-bars? cuz that's part of an alignment too. when all else fails
  23. i run the NGK's... pathys seem to love them... i know mine do! well. depending on when everything SS has suggested was done.... and $$ available. i would do the following:\ o2 sensor plugs check the wires for wear/cuts/tears/old age lol check distributor cap & rotor change plugs check ALL hoses... change fuel filter (a good fuel treatment i SWEAR by is lucas fuel treatment) clean MAF clean/change air filter (i run a K & N filter n love it) clean/check battery leads/connections check rad for any damage/blockages drain & change coolant (ready fer summer) check timing depending how many miles i've done. i usually change my plugs every 9-12 months, unless i feel the need to change them sooner change all belts & h2o pump & t stat (depending when they were last done) give yer motor a good clean.. you can see anything that is amiss/busted/cracked or worn when it's clean. ....... i can't think of anything else for now...... lol! i am anal.. i change my oil every 3k miles. my baby gurl has to work hard.....
  24. yes, you can tow your 87 with nothing larger than 31's. and we WILL match the price for truck n trailer... especially if oyu book through me the new u haul trucks are HELLA sweet. gasoline, but if not driven hard/over 65mph they get pretty damn good gas mileage for a big truck. also,t he advantage to our trucks is they are WAY lighter than penske or budgets..... When you pick up your truck, let them know you have had terrible trouble with older u haul's, and that you were promised a newer truck by the person who made the res. if oyu get me the # to the pick-up location, i can call them and give them a heads up to give you a new truck. any truck 14' and over have seating for 3, no bench seats, but uber comfy and you can easily use it as a bed. awesome stereos, dual cigarette/phone charger sockets..... we have 14, 17, 24 & 26' trucks.... 14 moves 1 bed, 17 moves 2 bed, 24 & 26 move 3-4 bed house. we have a 1-800 # also, 24/7, it's u haul mechanics that come out, wherever you are. change a flat, fix whatever.... and NO.. u haul AT's & TD's (vehicle towing equip) are NOT to go on the back of hte competitions trucks. that's immediate dismissal to a GM (me)........ ok, i think that covers it........
