  1. the main reason i took my fender flares off was because mud and crud would get under them and rub poor mini's paint and scratch it. i even have a surface rust spot because of them........ i am selling her flares..... they are slightly modded (trimmed but very unnoticeable) but in good condition. If i could get away with it, king wouldn't have them either.....PITA takign them off after playing in mud :judge: those fronty flares did look beefy tho........
  2. i got both mine off!!!! n now they both sport 8 balls
  3. welp, he is making me one right now.. so i can do a cheesy write up and tell y'all how "hard" it is to install. lol! here is a linky tot he TK-1, if I'm not mistaken, i also have a linky to a pic of one of his actual CL's. lemme go hunting....... i am sure he won't mind me posting this from a pm to me, but here's a small explanation of how it's made: It's actually not hard to build them at all. The only problem is that you have to machine out a sleeve to accept the spherical bearings. Unless you have a lathe it's pretty expensive to have done at a shop. I had to build one for myself, so I had a machine shop bore out a number of sleeves to the proper ID and thickness on their lathe. It just didn't make sense for me to buy two sleeves, since the more you buy the cheaper per piece they tend to be. I ended up with quite a few of these sleeves and that's why I've been building center links. The hard part of the process is cutting and grinding away all of that forged steel. It's pretty hard stuff, and it takes a few solid hours of grinding to get one ready. I think the time it takes to get set up to build these (going around to all the machine shops to get quotes... doing the grinding, ordering the parts, etc.) is what deters most people from doing it themselves. That and it's pretty cheap to buy from one of the CL manufacturers in the community. I guess it is some rather technical welding as well, most folks that haven't done lots of welding probably shouldn't try to tackle a CL. write up about CL's..... http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...p;p=entry
  4. ooh, that's always a fun clean up job....... NOT
  5. ME! confused???? noooooo *takes another swig of her J & C* neverrrrrrr *hhic*
  6. ah, ok, you have a 2k.. but yes. if air gets into the rad then it will cause the truck to over heat as the collant can not flow properly to cool the engine.... and yes, you would still have to burp a 2k... i am not 100% sure if the buper is in the same place tho... anyone with a 2k n up pathy wanna chime in here? if it is running 200 degrees oyu risk warping your heads if oyu continue to allow the truck to over heat that bad. aluminum heads have no tolerance to over heating....
  7. i just love a "mr fix-it's" leftovers
  8. the t stat is actually bang smack int he middle of the engine (see pic below..black hose poking up is from t'stat housing).. behind the fan, t-belt, h2o pump .... have you tried "burping" your pathy? there is a little burper valve that you loosen (don't remove) .. let the truck get to working temp then open the breather. have the heater on while yer doing this. the truck should run a steady 170 degrees....... how hot are we talking that yours actually runs?
  9. that looks like a "brake line lock"......... more often seen in "juiced" street rods like camaros n such...... have someone lay under the truck while you pull the lever... ask them wtf it does....... if anything....
  10. king disconnected his own sway bar. on one side.... i have just let it be for now..... tho it does squeak while stopping/wheeling...... and i didn't have to do a thing great flex..... drives fine. just don't corner as fast (like i ever did before?)
  11. packie is right. i have a 4" SL lift and 3" BL and rub my new 33" tires on the fender flares the JGC coils you need are FRONT, off a V-8 model, years 93-97 if I recall. this is the kragen JGC part number i got/used on mini me.. PA 8360513 (FCS782V) mine seemed a tad different to everyone else's, and i seemed to have got 1/4" to a 1/2" more lift from them......
  12. my 92 XE has cloth interior, roof rack and electric everything. LSD rear. no 31's. other than that, pretty basic. my 91 SE has full leather (no heated seats or rear air tho), sunroof, NO roof rack, NO spoiler, chrome bumpers and LSD. both my trucks seem to be the "basic" lower level of each model....... oh, and both are 4 door 4wd trucks. 4 doors RULE!
  13. By the way Slick, I think it was just Kragens crappy online parts finder that could't find the quick boots ahhhhh. yeah, it won't show em online. I had to go in there n ask em. have fun!!!!!! be SAFE!!!!

  15. try A/C (omg i can't believe i said that!).... and wtf. kragens don't have em... they have em fer my 92.......
  16. why don't you just go to kragens and get the "quick boots". they cost a tad more, but can be installed without tearing anything down...... :contract:
  17. how da hell ya gunna wire a 5 spd like an auto?
  18. -bounce- woohooo! now yer talkin my language! 1. AIR DOWN 2. fix the boots.... as above, sand gets EVERYWHERE (trust me.. i KNOW) 3. watch out for idiots flying over blind dunes 4. keep ANYTHING of value INSIDE your tent/rv.. lotta theives out there, and when caught, they don't play nice.... 5. please obey the speed limit on the ebach of 15mph.... and watch for stupid people who DON'T 6. HAVE FUN!!!!!! and -alcohol- here's some pics of pismo when we go. we go every labor day sly Oceano Dunes AND #1 THING TO REMEMER!!!! DO NOT. let someone tell you which way to go through the creek!!!!!!! many a truck has been lost to the creek. watch others go through and follow.... don't mess around in there.... it could cost you your truck. Go through at LOW TIDE... and go SLOW. there are many dangerous drop off's if you do not pay attention.

  20. -bounce- wooohooooo. i finally posted
  21. -bounce- i love my 5000's. they are a stiffer shock, but i like that "firm" feel, as i drive mini pretty hard around corners..... they always give me a firm, stable feel. the ride is a bit harsher, i have the JGCC's witht he shocks, but i like the slightly "stiffer" ride. they are a greta shock on and off road, but definitely not a soft ride.
  22. :sniff: my alignment guy is awesome, but the TM LCA's stick "out" too far thus not allowing the camber to be adjusted enuff to correct the camber fully.... it is spaced out as far as it can go, and the camber is still "top in".. i think/believe this was one of the first TM susp lifts they did, as i know it's been on the truck more than 7 yrs.... so i am thinking this was a  on TM's part, adn will be emailing them to ask if this has been a problem on their first lifts. the bracket that holds the lca needs to be about 1/4" more towards the "other side of the truck" to be correct....
  23. damn that's expensive! i think i'll pay someone to do mine.. i am lazy and have very little math skills........

    HELP!

NO. yes, i am a little further north.... but when it was dry as hell here, down south had floods...... i can always find mud... until about july. then it gets kinda sparse :sniff: but it can be found all year if you are determined enuff sly i live in the "central valley" where rain is sparse, and heat is rampant.
  25. :cool2: i wish i had the time to do a bunch of work to my 2 kids
