  1. Nice !! So how much does he want for the XR ??? I'll trade him a Blackbird and it and $... I like the carrier set ups. Seems to me it wouldn't be hard to set up bolt on left and right stabilizing bars. That prob what I would do rather than just cinch one side down. Good point about the air bags, I'll have to look into that. Might be worth pulling the carrier too... Ok, SAS and XR400 are the goal for this summer... Now that it is settled, I'll get a job... B
  2. I totally understand what you are saying M and agree !! I'd love a trick bike, but I need a reasonably priced workhorse. My XR650L was far too powerful for off road unless your goal was to knock riders off their bikes 100 feet behind you with torn knobbies and fist sized rocks... It was nicknamed "the Tractor" :cool2: The XR's have great aftermarket parts and don't worry, I'll make that little 400 piggy squeal !! B
  3. Bingo, sw gets the prize !! B
  4. I just put in an OE clutch... They last 100k with some abuse, I don't see needing anything more... If you have 50 more HP, tow large trailers and ride the clutch, aftermarket performance may help... Yes, 5 qts of GL-4 ONLY !!! 75w-90 or comprable synthetic... B
  5. Yes, one of those switches is to decativate the cruise when you step on the brake... you have found the problem !! Try giving the wire power and then tripping the switch... if the cruise cuts off, you have the right side, if it doesn't, chase the other wire to see where it is losing power ? does that make sense ?? If not, I can try again. B
  6. Sounds like throttle position sensor maybe ?? Just guessing... Intermittent wiring/connector issue... Ground ?? I don't recall anyone stating this problem before... B
  7. Hope it works out that you can get it Dowser !! PM's also work great for this type of thing... B
  8. Hey Mark, glad to see you back !!! I thought about you a few times over the months, wondering what happened and hoping everything was ok... Hope you had a nice vacation, I'm going on 24 weeks now myself... B
  9. Would that be a Suzuki GS550 Mr P ?? That was my first street bike. 78 GS550E to be precise... Great little bikes with a totally bullet proof motor... If he ever gets rid of it, I highly recomment you aquire it !! B
  10. Agreed with the two of you, but I find my pathy doesn't shift without clutch as easily as other cars I have had... No interlock switch either... Plan on fixing that ASAP !!! mws... Riding a bike without a clutch sucks !!! Linear gear boxes are problematic for such fun. I only had to do it once, but it was a superbike in rush hour traffic, both freeway and through town... I don't think I ever white knuckled as much as that afternoon. I remember screaming a lot.... B
  11. Cool !! I really want to see your receiver carrier for the bike !!! I've been knocking around that idea as I want to set up a xr400 enduro but don't want to schlepp around a trailer... Damn, this summer I'm going to have to come up there so we can hit the sierras !! B
  12. Ahh, I did not know that the ARB assembly was that complete. Thanks for the clue in and good luck, I'm sure you will enjoy it !! Going to take picts of the install for a write up ? Hint, hint... B

LMAO You don't have a manual or have read it... Unless you are handy, done it before, have all the right tools and a good place to work... I wouldn't try it in that time frame. It's not like it's an impossible job, just not something you rush and you can run into lots of little problems. Everything above is good advice !! Trust the NPORA crew, they are trying to help. B
  14. So where in all this did you see dual exhaust will give you more 'power' over single ? Is that Horse type power or Torque type power ? Without headers, a full exhaust may get you +1 mph, depending on driving. Duals are silly on a pint sized V6 like this. Pay no mind to my rant, and do what what you want, but the good info that has been supplied should be heeded... B
  15. We need picts of you peeking out of the engine compartment making revving noises !!! B
  16. Glad you said that, I was thinking the same !! BAD SLICK !!! BAD !!! It has been weeks !! Month+ ?? BAD SLICK !!! B
  17. Glad it was not the motor, but there is still the mystery of the low oil... watch it closely for a while... $550 for MAF ??? WTF ??? I'd be junkyarding it !! congrats on it being less of an issue than you thought !! B
  18. Try what k9sar said... You checked the part #'s, do you have the old ones to hold up and visually check ? Other than that I'm running out of ideas... Last thing I can think of is that the shoes are not in the same position. Try 1/2 mooning the top of the shoes with the drum and lightly tapping on the bottom of each to see if they settle upwards until the drum fits... B
  19. As I understand it, you need an open diff to install a locker. Does this mean you are swapping out components from an open carrier in order to be able to install the locker ? What kind of locker ? SolidS, if you are a weekend warrior (especially in sand) you may find it unnecessary... Depends on your desire, time and $ I guess. A locker is generally preferable to LSD. Have you been in many circumstances where you almost got stuck and wished both wheels were spinning ? B
  20. Everything is stainless up to the rear of the old cat where they somehow welded it on... B
  21. PM this !! So, back to the TD turbo boost... B
  22. Yes, get the V8 and only the V8 springs... Slick got some new progressive ones from Kragens or Grand Auto for like $80 and her ass is WAY in the air !! Well, you know what I mean... B
  23. You probably need to colapse the wheel cylinder. Open the bleed nipple (with a line on it) like you were going to bleed the brake and push the tops of the brake shoes together evenly. You will see the ends of the wheel cylinder moving in; try to keep it the same on both sides.Once the drum goes on, tighten the bleeder nipple, tighten everything up and asjust/bleed away... B
  24. I agree that it is worth collecting all info possible on the TD's... I'm moving this to the newly created forum. B
  25. When I bought the Pathy 1.5 years ago, I got a receipt for a cat back magnaflow ss exhaust for $280. But then this is Cali where nothing is cheap... It's only been 8 months or so, but it seems to work fine... B
