Well, it won't run well when warm. My first guess is the temp sensor and a close second is O2 sensor, but that is after normal tune up items are verified/replaced. There was a guy who posted over 500,000 miles on his pathfinder, but 250-300 seems to be the normal effective service life of these motors, which is amazing if you consider it... Look around for a parts vehicle, either locally or on line that has a low mileage engine. Just make sure it is from a trust worthy source... B

And less traction on wet/icy pavement too?? Yes... People generally go with what works for their offroad/winter needs and deal with it the rest of the year unless they get two sets worked out. One for summer/pavement and the other for winter/dirt. That's the best, obviously... Then there is the 'winter beater' method also... What a serious waste of time and $ on their behalf and unnecessary BS on yours. Sadly many corporations (just like governments) blindly enforce the letter of the 'law' regardless of practical consideration. Yeah, I just have to reinforce this. Do not confuse AT tires with MT tires because they don't compare, expecially in the real muddy conditions. Probably the one biggest factor in driving/wheeling is having the right tire for the conditions and no one tire can excel at them all... B

True, and that doesn't work well. Taps are designed for cutting, not clearing and when you have steel threads left in aluminum and chase with a tap, you will be sorry. Even when drilled to core hole size, there is still a helicoil of thread that needs to be picked and pulled out. It can be touchy and there is no easy, every time kit. I am terrible at freehand drilling so if something really helps, I'll use it!! B

Skid plates never hurt. What kind of driving are you going to do? Honestly, it isn't the area you are in, it is what you are trying to do. You can wipe out a skid plate with a poorly placed poodle!! I removed the wife's plastic splash guard to change the oil filter on her 99 and never put it back on. If that is the one you mean VS an aftermarket one, for any off road it is a good investment. B

Interesting. All that really is is an adjustable drill bushing and drill bushings have been used forever in fixturing. It simply centers the drill and adds rigidity since a drill is not designed to cut in any direction except down. There is no one way to deal with broken bolts, it depends on many conditions including the size, condition of the bolt, material and even what equipment is available. That said, this is a good place to start, whether it is used to completely drill out an old bolt or to be used in conjunction with bolt removers. It should still be used with left hand drills and I prefer the square type of 'easy out' bolt remover as they are less prone to breakage when dealing with the smaller sizes. All that said, extracting damaged or broken fasteners is an unpleasant art in its self. Is this one worth it?? I don't know as I have not inspected one for quality nor do they list a price. The theory is sound and has been used since the machining industry began. B

Only in the American minivan, otherwise they interfere oh so very much. It's in the top 5 killers of pathfinders... Your timing belt change interval is 60,000 miles. How many miles on yours and when was the last time it was changed? B

There are a few threads about engine swaps that describe what you have to do so it might be easier to look those up. Sucks to hear, but it sounds like you have the solution figured out. I agree about changing the timing belt when it is out, but it sounds like you have severe time constraints. It should be ok for a while if you don't though. Last year I changed the TB on my 95 with 100k on it, and the belt looked fine. Your 91 should have have been on it's 4th timing belt... B

Yep. Put in a can of engine flush, run it for 5 minutes or whatever it says (when fully warm!!), drain it, change the filter, fill it with new oil and drive it. Check regularly. Hows the PCV valve?? B

Ok, I figured it was something hard to see with the tire on. Did you rebuild or replace it?? Reason being, you want to clean and grease the slide pins too if you rebuilt it. We try to help, sometimes it works... B

It's a CYA/disclaimer BS. Yes, it can affect braking, but generally if you upsize drastically or your braking system is worn/weak/corroded/malfunctioning to begin with. There are people driving around with 33" tires and the stock brakes without issues. B

Good tire!! Reasonably priced, fairly sticky, great wet weather characteristics and general all around good riding tire. I can't comment on off road ability, but I'd be surprised if they weren't adequate for an AT... B

I can not remember but I do remember it being in the two hundreds and much higher than I would want to see. I'm certain it was posted in a thread, I think by someone living in Colorado... B

Some people do run the motor to clear as much ATF out as possible. Shut it off when it burbles is the rule... It is good? Can it cause harm? I really don't know. There are so many tranny failures that it is hard to correlate the ones that might have done this. There was a write up/thread about this by 88pathoffroad IIRC. B

Hey Ramon, you may want to source a motor and compare to the cost of fixing this one. You could always fix it when it was out and sell it to offset the cost or do it to learn... B

Exactly. I put a set of $90 Mile Marker manual hubs on the wife's R50 and instantly got +2mpg so it gets over 20 mpg running at 70-80mph. B
