That's normal. With the extreme temperatures across the nation recently, it's to be expected. The AC Compressor will shut off at low load to keep the engine from overheating. The ECU receives signal from temperature sensors, vehicle speed sensors, fans, etc to determine the air flow across the radiator/condensor. If the air flow is not enough to sufficiently cool the engine as well as the refrigerant, the ECU will turn off the compressor to prevent the engine from overheating and causing damage. This is what's happening. Also, if your fan clutch is bad, the AC compressor will shut off sooner/more often than if it were good.

On-Road it's fine as long as you don't over-oil it.

If it was indeed blowing the fuse, maybe it's shorted out or grounding out... Pull the socket out of the console and see what it looks like inside of it. If it's all burnt up lookin, then you need to replace it. It's also possible that the P.O. was using it to power something that was over the maximum load of the socket and it kept popping the fuse that way. If you can get your hands on a fuse, toss one in there and see what it does.

It doesn't make too much difference, as the suspension isn't altered, but it is recommended that you do it after the new tires are on.

Check out 4x4parts.com for the Thorleys. Yes, they make them for the Pathy. I don't recall pricing off the top of my head, but they have it on the site. As far as exhaust goes, I got mine done, aluminized steel, all custom piping from the cats out, for just under $200. That didn't include buying the muffler, which I paid $18 for on eBay. It was originally like a $100 muffler. Between Magnaflow and Flowmaster, they have two very different sounds. If you want more subtle, but still a little throaty, go with the Magnaflow. If you want a balls-out roar, and a really throaty idle, go with the Flowmaster. And then once you choose a brand, you have to choose which line of muffler you want. I've got a 40-Series Delta-flow and love it. I'll post a vid when I get home.

How many gallons is it taking when you fill up at ~260? On my trip out to Phoenix, I had my gas can filled up and I decided to see just how far I could go on a tank....so I set the cruise at 70 and let it rock n roll. Then I saw a sign that said "Check your gas...next gas 100 miles." So I stopped. The trip odometer was at 345mi. That was fully loaded, too. Ok...granted this was in Kansas and there was a slight tailwind...It took just shy of 20 gallons then.

I drive like a grandma around town, party to save gas, and partly because everyone else around here drives like crap and I wanna make sure I can stop without hitting them WHEN, not IF, they pull out in front of me and then take 10 minutes to get to 20 mph when the speed limit is 45. Interstate is another story....75-80 minumum. And that's just to keep from getting run over by the Semis! I've only gotten pulled over twice in the Pathy in nearly 90,000 miles (across 23 states) in it. Once was for expired tags, which werent expired...it turned out the cop just needed to get his eyes checked and didnt read it right....and one was a bogus right-turn on red. There was no sign! Didn't get a ticket in either case....

It might help. Could also be your relay is burnt out, or missing. Or, maybe a fuse?

Actually, if you've got the patience....I'd save up and do it all at once. But, if you can't wait, do the lift and headers, and then the rest of the exhaust later.

Yes. In every market other than US, the 4cyl models were more prevalent. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see a 4banger one in Ecuador. 125 sounds right. 3. Yes, swapping the engine will require a new transmission that will bolt up to the new engine. Yes, you can swap in a 6cyl from another Pathy, but it's still a lot of work. You'll have to switch the ECU, transmission, transfer case, as well as all the wiring and fuel stuff as with any other engine swap. Good luck.

Sway bar most likely. Also might be the chassis tweaking. I've got skids and sliders so my chassis is a little stiffer, and don't have a rear swaybar, and I don't get any popping sounds. Might also be the coils getting situated.

I'd rather pay $50/hr to do it myself and do it right than have someone else do it and screw it up. Most of the time, I'm faster, too. Most shops bill book rate, too...so, if a job calls for 4 hours, and it takes them 45 minutes, you still pay for 4 hours. Lame.

I get 4Runner a lot.... Once the guy at Valvoline pulled an oil filter for a 4Runner and was wondering why it wasn't going on....He was like..it's the right filter for a 4Runner...I don't understand why it's not going on!? I said..."You Friggin MORON! It's a ****ing PATHFINDER!!!"
